On National Agriculture Week 2026, MABA President Chuck Lippstreu joined WILS-1390 in Lansing to spotlight Michigan’s second-largest economic engine.

MABA spent three days in Washington DC this week, conducting more than 20 meetings with Members of Congress, their staff, USDA and White House officials. Here's an overview of some topics we covered with them.

On October 30, 2025, Cooperative Elevator Co. CEO Scott Gordon joined Michigan Agri-Business Association President Chuck Lippstreu in providing an informational overview to the Michigan House Agriculture Committee. Scott's opening statement is included here.

On October 30, 2025, MABA President Chuck Lippstreu and Cooperative Elevator Co. CEO Scott Gordon provided an overall agriculture sector update to members of the Michigan House Agriculture Committee, and took questions from the Committee.

On February 25, MABA President Chuck Lippstreu discussed current events at the federal and state government levels in remarks to the Michigan Wheat Program Annual Meeting — covering trade and tariffs, USDA policy issues, Michigan government developments and beyond. 

The Michigan Agri-Business Association maintains strong two-way communications with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) across many areas, including pesticide regulation. Recently, MDARD Pesticide Section Manager Brian Verhougstraete participated in a meeting of the MABA Pesticide Committee to provide updates on the section's priorities. This was an extremely useful update and we appreciate Brian for joining us this week to cover some of the same updates for the broader industry.
