This is Making Feedback Count – a three-episode podcast series from Erasmus University Rotterdam about giving and receiving feedback in higher education. By having conversations with colleagues, students, and experts in the field we will unbox feedback practices, and discover tips and tricks to help us improve. This podcast is the end result of an educational innovation project by Dr. Mijke Slot, assistant professor in Media and Communication. The expert perspective
In the past two episodes Mijke has talked with colleagues and students about feedback practices. In this third and final episode of Making Feedback Count, Mijke will ask the advice of two experts on feedback working for RISBO at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Marit Nieuwenhuys is senior educational consultant and Celine van der Lienden is educational consultant and a specialist on educational assessment.

The student perspective
In the second episode of Making Feedback Count, the student perspective on feedback in higher education is discussed. Together with two students, Mijke discusses the importance of good feedback, student’s motivations to engage with feedback, and the challenges they face in receiving and using it.

The lecturer perspective
The first episode of Making Feedback Count focuses on the lecturer's perspective. Providing feedback is essential for student development, but balancing quality and efficiency remains a constant challenge for educators. What are the complexities of delivering good feedback, how do we ensure students genuinely engage with it while managing our workload at the same time? Mijke Slot discusses these issues with three colleagues from ESHCC's Media and Communication department: Palesa Mashigo, Arne van Lienden, and Aleid Fokkema. They share their experiences and discuss practical tips and tricks to increase the effectiveness of our feedback practices.
