MTB Summer Series | Episode 4 - BAC Prelims Rehearsal, Military Park, Semifinals Vlog + Finals Recap

Send us Fan MailWelcome in everybody to THE LAST EPISODE for The Summer Series Edition of the Meet The Bus Podcast! This final episode wraps up on one of the best DCI seasons I’ve seen in a while. 2024 was a summer that put the activity back on the map in my opinion as so many groups put their best shows to date on the field, and it’s got me in high spirits about what’s to come for the future of Drum Corps International. I made sure to include as much as I could from experience in Indy over the two days I was there, but my phone was on 10% for the last 4 corps, so I had to use my videos sparingly! I also give my closing remarks on the Top 12 after seeing everyone live, and I give a sneak peak into the future of Meet The Bus.Thank you all for watching and supporting us over the summer! I hope you’ve all enjoyed the series, and please let us know down below if there's something you'd like us to cover during the offseason as we head into the 2025 season.P.S- DROP YOUR Q’s DOWN BELOW BECAUSE I MIGHT DO A Q&A VIDEO IF YOU GUYS WOULD LIKE THAT :)INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/meetthebus/APPLE PODCASTS: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/meet-the-bus/id1707078072SPOTIFY: https://spotify.link/7bnPGvewBDbAMAZON MUSIC: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/658...SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS :)Editor: Michael Brunk- https://brunkphoto.myportfolio.com/home?fbclid=PAAabhtffzTyA9fFgXAARIzZ1K-faRJBawYdQzsaUxLGHsCy7XoT-tMPC7ZxI_aem_ATlKydP2r1lhkXGieNuPf5p8GpPUNCVD39IPUFbgerlc9kbbPzPhL3_QOYrvIT1JMrQThumbnail: Grant Langston - 0:00- Intro + My Experience in Indianapolis - 12:55- Boston Crusaders Prelims Rehearsal- 14:57- Military Park Prelims Day- 18:30- Getting Into Lucas Oil- 41:45- Final Thoughts on Indy- 53:40- The Top 12 of 2024- 1:05:50- The Future Of MTB

MTB Summer Series | Episode 2 - Early DCI 2024 Show Clips, San Antonio, Member + Staff Interviews

Send us Fan MailWelcome in everybody to The Summer Series Edition of the Meet The Bus Podcast! We are back again for a PACKED episode of drum corps, so I hope you got your popcorn ready! For today's episode, I started by recapping the beginning of the 2024 DCI Season, and where groups are stacking up in the rankings as we head into the San Antonio Regional. We then kick it to some early tour content from 2 DIFFERENT SHOWS!! I got the opportunity to get some coverage from the DCI Muncie show that started the 2024 season, and it was such a blast to be a fan again. I got to see so many old friends and teachers of mine who are now flourishing in all different areas of the activity. I made sure to get everything from lot coverage, hornlines warming up in the lot, and some show chunks from all 6 corps who performed that night. We also have some more exclusive show content from returning guest of the podcast, Riley Fitzpatrick! Riley was out at the DCI Idaho show, and got some great clips of all the corps in attendance that night as well as a special encore from the Blue Knights! We also got the opportunity to catch up with the member interviews again from our two stars, Matthew Iida and Alberto Paulino. I got to get some deeper insight into both The Blue Devils and Pacific Crest productions and how the groups are feeling after starting the competitive part of the season. Before we wrapped for episode 2, I decided to bring on a special guest from The Guardians Visual Staff, Dylan Rider! We got into what's happening in their season this year and the challenges that Open Class groups face during the course of a whole summer. I hope you guys enjoyed this episode of the Summer Series! MTB Summer Series | Episode 1 - DCI 2024 Spring Training, Mandarins + Blue Devils Send Off + More!

Send us Fan MailWelcome in everybody to The Summer Series Edition of the Meet The Bus Podcast! We're starting something new again with this one! I've talked about this idea of doing a summer series throughout the 2024 DCI Season, so finally after some moving, more moving and starting a new job I got the chance to pick the mic back up and talk some drum corps! I know I'm a little late to the party, so I'm gonna try my best to catch back up with everyone else!In this first episode, I do my best to quickly catch you (the viewer) up to date on WHY I haven't posted in 2 months. Big thank you to Alberto Paulino and Matthew Iida for taking the time out of their days to do an interview for the podcast as well because they were absolutely incredible, and I could not be more excited to see what Pacific Crest and The Blue Devils have to bring to the field this summer. The really fun part of this video, and it's something I'd love to keep doing throughout the summer was done by the one and only, Joey Teixeira. He got some great footage of the Mandarins hornline as well as some behind the scenes action and interviews with members of the corps! Joey also got the opportunity to attend BD's family day for 2024, and again got some great behind the scenes content of the event as well as some funny behind the scenes interviews with members of the Blue Devils hornline. We have special surprise for this one as well as Joey got to sit down for a 1-on-1 interview with the Brass Caption Head of The Blue Devils, Chip Crotts! I hope you guys enjoyed this first episode of the Summer Series! Episode 25: Talking New DCI Partnerships! (feat. Riley Fitzpatrick)

Send us Fan MailWelcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast! This week, we decided to call a quick audible and change up the regularly scheduled program to talk about some new partnerships that have been created recently with DCI. There has been a lot of negative news for Drum Corps International in the last couple years whether it's COVID or multiple groups having to fold whether it's for a season or some have had to completely fold up, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to talk about the exciting future of this activity! I brought my good friend and first seat partner in DCI, Riley Fitzpatrick back on for this episode (you can also find him in episode 3 and 7 of this podcast for more stories and getting to know the boy) and we had a really fun time just taking a look at what drum corps is doing to keep the future bright. QUICK DISCLAIMER: WE ARE NOT BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS. THIS WAS AN OFF THE CUFF PODCAST WITH TWO OLD DRUM CORPS GUYS SIMPLY GIVING THEIR OPINION NONE OF THIS IS FACT.....thank you :)Stay tuned! Episode 24: We The Champions (feat. Alberto Paulino)

Send us Fan MailWelcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast! In this weeks episode, we continue introducing the members who we will be following for the 2024 DCI season in our summer series! This episode, we had Alberto Paulino on who's been a Mellophone player with Pacific Crest since 2022 and will be with them again this summer! We got to talk about so many awesome things within this activity that have happened the last two seasons along with all of the incredible things that PC has also accomplished in '22 and '23. Alberto also tells a DOPE story about the time he made a beat while he had Covid during the '22 season that ended up turning into a really sweet song from an artist who opened up for GZA in LA during the '23 season! I've really enjoyed getting to hear from the current members of the activity the last couple weeks because it's just so cool to hear that prospective of someone who's in the mix!!Stay tuned! Episode 23: Definitely Not Allentown (feat. Clark Fitzgerald)

Send us Fan MailWelcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast! This week, we are starting to introduce the people who will be apart of the performer summer series for this upcoming 2024 DCI Season. In this episode, I got the chance to meet and talk with Clark Fitzgerald who's been a trumpet player for the Spirit of Atlanta since 2020. This was the first episode where we had a member on who has not marched pre-covid years, so it was really interesting to see the perspective of someone who's only been apart of this new era of DCI. Clark has such an interesting story from not getting to do his first summer due to covid, his first season was the shortened 2021 season, can't do 2022 due to SOA folding and then finally gets to do a full season in 2023, but now he's the section leader and the only vet IN HIS SECTION. We got to get into some great conversation talking about ast summer, and it being such a special one for SOA.Stay Tuned! Episode 22: Behind The Lens (feat. Sam Mohler)

Send us Fan MailWelcome Back to The Meet The Bus Podcast! For this week episode, we aren't hearing from the member or staff prospective....so who are we talking about? We're hearing from the people that give you all your profile pictures that have your sick action shots in them, and they promote your corps online and make them look really cool.....THE MEDIA TEAM. I got to learn so much in this episode from my guest, Sam Mohler. We got to cover his wild performing career which made him become a drum major in his rookie year due to an injury we talk about in the episode! I also got to learn the history of how the media game has evolved in DCI, and hear about a day in the life and how much goes into being apart of a media team in this activity. We have a very important conversation as well at the end of the episode about the recent folding of The Cadets that I think perfectly paints how we should look at future situations like this if they come up.I really hope you guys enjoy this episode! Episode 21: For All The Divas (feat. Dan Hoffman)

Send us Fan MailWelcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast! In this weeks episode, I had the pleasure of having one of my favorite teachers I've ever had in the marching arts world, Dan Hoffman! Dan marched the Boston Crusaders on Tuba from 2012-2015 and taught me on the Oregon Crusaders visual team from 2016-2018, and most recently just wrapped up his time on the Madison Scouts Vis Staff which he was on from 2019-2022. I've been so excited for this specific episode to happen since I started this podcast because Dan is one of the most uplifting and positive people I've ever met in my life and he helped me grow so much as an individual and as a performer during my time with OC. We got to cover so many great topics in this episode from Dan's time as a marching member to teaching me at Oregon, and then finding his way to the Madison Scouts right as the Organization made one of the biggest decisions in it's history and Dan even let me ask him my nerdy questions about teaching on the visual side of pageantry! This episode is a long one, but I promise you, you won't want to miss a second of it :) I really hope you guys enjoy this episode! Episode 20: TGI Saturdays (feat. Julia Robles)

Send us Fan MailWelcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast!I'm going to try my best these next couple months before the summer starts to keep getting content to you guys every single week cause that's what this channel has been about since the start!!This week, we are finally back with Episode 20 and I got to bring on another old friend of mine, Julia Robles. I marched with her in 2016 and 2017 at the Oregon Crusaders and she went on to perform with some great groups in Phantom Regiment and Santa Clara Vanguard in 2018 and 2019. She’s also leading the Pacific Crest off-season training program this season!! I had so much fun getting to talk to Julia Robles this past week! We got to reminisce about our time in the activity performing, got to look into some of the challenges that open class corps face on a summer tour and we might’ve gotten a preview into the PC 2024 Season. It's always nice getting to hear from someone who not only marched in the activity, but is now apart of the change teaching the activity! I really hope you guys enjoy this episode! Send us Fan MailWelcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast!Disclaimer: For the first time in this podcasts history, I forgot to check the audio source before starting the recording, so unfortunately it's labtop audio from me this episode :( In this weeks episode, I got the chance to sit down with another member who will be on the road for the 2024 season this summer, Matthew Iida! Matthew is the founder of the rising social media page DrumCorpsLink, so we talked a good amount about where that started from and you can find it on all platforms  @DrumCorpsLink . It was really nice to hear from someone who not only has marched in this new era of DCI, but also marched pre-COVID era as well! Getting to hear about the challenges of a young group like Genesis in 2019 compared to the groups at the top of the activity in Santa Clara Vanguard and the Blue Devils. I haven't had anyone on the podcast yet who's marched SCV so to especially hear about some of the behind the scenes challenges with that 2022 and 2023 season was eye opening as to how hard it is to keep a drum corps on the road year after year. I really hope you guys enjoy this episode! Episode 18: Never Been Cut (feat. Matthew Ezeh)

Send us Fan MailWelcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast! In this weeks episode, I had so much fun getting to sit down with Matthew Ezeh and talk all things drum corps with him. Ezeh is currently out in LA working for Warner Chappell, but in this episode we talked about his short time in DCA with Alliance, we rehashed some old memories of the 2017 season with the Oregon Crusaders and then we just talked all about his time with The Cavaliers as a member and his time on the brass staff. I was really excited to hear about this, but towards the end of the episode we got to talk about his most recent teaching experience on the Spirit of Atlanta brass staff this past summer and it was incredible to hear how they were able to pull it off. Ezeh is someone who is never afraid to be himself and speak his mind, so while there was some friendly trash talk ;) we had an incredible conversation about the activity and I learned so much from him by the end of it all.I really hope you guys enjoy this episode! Episode 16: POLE Hit or PULL Hit? (feat. Ben Smith)

Send us Fan MailWelcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast! In this weeks episode, we had our first guard guest on the podcast and we had a BLAST!! We had Ben Smith on for this one, and it was so fun getting to hear from a guest who's still active in DCI and just the marching world in general. We had a lot to talk about right away with Ben's first summer being the 2021 COVID Season with Carolina Crown, so we dove right into that and what that experience was like. I also got the chance to be a complete nerd and ask all of my questions about guard that I was curious about since I've only really known the brass prospective of the activity. We also got to talk about how cool it was to perform the 2022 Carolina Crown show, "Right Here, Right Now" and how in 2023 it was a complete 180 from a performance aspect with the show concept. Overall, Ben is a superstar who does A LOT in the marching arts, so if you are currently in marching band wanting to be in DCI or you're in DCI then this episode is for YOU!I really hope you guys enjoy this episode! This week, we got Andrew Reader on the podcast and what an episode it was. We got to cover everything from his performing career as a Tuba player with the Colts and Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps to his now teaching career as a Low Brass Tech with The Troopers! Send us Fan MailWelcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast! On this episode, I got the chance to sit down with one of my section leaders in 2019 with the Blue Knights, Nick Martinez! He marched trumpet with Horizon Drum and Bugle Corps in 2016 and then went on to march with Blue Knights from 2017-2021. We got to cover everything from the experience he had in Soundsport that got him prepared for the rest of his career with the Blue Knights to how the activity changed by the time he was all done in 2021 and what we think of the future of this activity. If you are someone who's thinking about doing drum corps or someone who is currently in the activity then this is the episode for you. We talk a lot about how to handle the tough parts of the activity, but also shed light on how this activity ultimately changed our lives for the better, so I hope you guys enjoy!I really hope you guys enjoy this episode! Send us Fan Mail#dci #carolinacrown #drumcorps #band Welcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast! On this episode, I got the chance to sit down with someone I've known for awhile now, but I never got the opportunity to pick his brain about his time activity so we did it today! I had on Taylor Womack and what a story he has. Taylor marched mellophone for Carolina Crown from 2014-2016, came back to Crown to be on tour admin staff in 2017, took a year off in 2018 and came back to teach on Music City's brass staff in 2019, and to cap it all off he worked for Carolina Crown at their HQ down in South Carolina. We had so much to talk about in this podcast from Taco Crew 2014 to Finals Week 2015 and even a scary beginning to the 2016 season for Taylor, so while it is a longer episode I promise you don't want to miss a second of this! Send us Fan Mail#dci #drumcorps #colts #blueknights  Welcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast! On this episode, I got the opportunity to interview one of my very good friends Zach Adams!! We are back in person for this episode and what a blast it was! Zach marched with the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps from 2016-2019 on trumpet and also marched Freedom Percussion on cymbals in 2018. We’ve been close for a long time with going to high school and college together for a little bit, so we just had a blast in this episode. We got into some DCI and WGI talk, got into some silly UDB (Ultimate Drill Book) stories from when the app first came out and we even have a fun story for you at the end about our time at the DCI Murfreesboro show from this past summer! Zach has such an interesting story about how he got into the activity and how he came into his own, and it was just such a fun conversation so I hope you guys enjoy!I really hope you guys enjoy this episode! Nick marched trumpet for the Troopers in 2019 and the Blue Devils in 2022, and we also taught high school band together in 2021. Nick has one of the strangest journeys in DCI that I've ever heard, so you're going to have to listen to this one because it's truly unlike anyone else who's been on the show so far. Episode 9: Oh Yeah? Watch This (feat. Keith Tye)

Send us Fan MailWelcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast! On this episode, I got the honor of interviewing my last brass caption head I had in the activity while I was at The Blue Knights, Keith Tye! Keith has done and still continues to do so much in the activity, so we had a lot to talk about in this one! Keith marched with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps in 2011, and then from there going to march with Carolina Crown from 2013-2016. His teaching career began right away in 2017 with The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, and then he became the assistant and eventual brass caption head for The Blue Knights from 2018-2022, and most recently he was the brass caption head for The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps for their 75th anniversary show and will return on staff for the 2024 season. I got to be a big nerd in this episode asking about everything Carolina Crown from 2013-2016, talking growing pains during the first couple years in the activity, how teaching came into the picture and how it’s changed Keith’s life and finally wrapping up with a discussion on where DCI is today!! It’s been a while since we’ve had a long interview like this, but I promise you it’s worth every second to watch!!! I really hope you guys enjoy this episode! With it being the first in person episode, we had some hiccups happen which you’ll probably see in the video, but we still had an amazing time having this conversation! Send us Fan Mail#dci #drumcorps #marchingbandWelcome back to the Meet The Bus Podcast! On this episode, we had THREE people on the podcast, and we only did an HOUR?!?! Riley returned for this one as my co-host, and Josh Sanchez came on the show as the new guest. Josh marched Tuba for 3 years with me at the Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps from 2016-2018. Josh had to get to a gig right after this interview, so we were on a little time crunch but we had an amazing conversation nonetheless! We've had a couple people on now to talk about OC 16 and 18, so since Josh was the first 2017 member to come on we dove into that year more than the others. We also had a short but very interesting conversation at the end on if we believe DCI can survive the way it's headed. I really hope you guys enjoy this episode! Episode 5: Waddup Dudes?! (feat. Austin Barry)

Send us Fan MailWelcome back to the Meet The Bus podcast! On this weeks episode, it was one the most chaotic episodes of all time with one of my best friends and fraternity big Austin Barry. Austin marched Music City Drum and Bugle Corps in 2014, Mandarins 2015, Cavaliers in 2018-2019 and finally Blue Devils 2020 and 21 (R.I.P the homie) I loved getting to do this episode though because Austin has been someone I’ve looked up to since the day I started at Middle Tennessee State University in 2019, so coming back 4 years later to have this conversation that we’ve had so many times over the years was special. We talked about so many different things in episode and we bounced around years just talking about advice for young marchers wanting to do DCI, all of the challenges Austin faced throughout his career and even what we both think about the state of DCI today!!I really hope you guys enjoy this episode!
