If you or anyone you know is struggling with any kind of addiction just know you are not alone and help is available. The only time we fail is when we stop trying.

In this episode I sit down with my Sister in law Cierra and she tells her story about being a survivor of gun violence. We discuss looking for the red flags while in a new relationship, not ignoring the red flags, the importance of holding standards and holding your partner accountable for their actions. We go into how not dealing with loss can lead to self destructive behavior. Cierra walks us through her memories of that horrific night and what led to the moment where she was staring death in the face. If you or anyone you know has been subject to domestic violence please seek help. There are so many resources available to you. Listen to your intuition when things don’t feel right. It can be the very thing that saves your life.

In this episode we discuss the day in the park that Mason decided to take the first steps in recovery. We will be going over a little bit of our conversation in the park and the challenges he faced while trying to remain sober. He will be sharing his take on rehab and how he felt having family support helped him through one of the most difficult times of his life. We also discuss the many things he has accomplished in his sobriety and how even though the road may seem long and the goal may sometimes seem unobtainable that is not the case if you believe in yourself and you take it one moment at a time. If you are struggling with addiction or a loved one of someone struggling with addiction don’t give up hope the chains can be broken. If it happened for our family it can happen for you!

In this episode I sit down with Mason Silva (my brother) who is recovering addict. We will be discussing his journey through addiction, some of the emotional challenges he faced in his adolescent years and how those challenges contributed to him using different substances as ways of numbing problems he was facing. We also discuss my point of view as a loved one and what it was like for me seeing my brother go through his addiction.
