WITH A RATE OF 13 DEATHS PER 100,000 PEOPLE, NORTH CAROLINA HAS THE 24TH-HIGHEST RATE OF GUN DEATHS IN THE UNITED STATES.  The Town of Wadesboro is consistently listed as the #1 most dangerous place to live in North Carolina, largely due to the number of people killed per capita by gun violence. Join The Brothers as they discuss an upcoming Stop Killing Us march, rally and health fair in Wadesboro on August 26, 2023.  Featured guests for this show include Karida Giddings of the North Carolina Black Alliance and other members of the coalition to bring awareness, support and solutions to this national tragedy. The Gatewood Brothers formed a gospel singing group while most of them were in their teens.  They went from church to church wowing congregations with their youth, determination and unique harmony.  As they grew up, and began going into different directions, sustaining as a group, became unrealistic, if not impossible. Fast forward 50 years later, The Gatewood Brothers are at it again.  Five of the brothers; Joseph, Robert, Leon, Curtis and Daniel, though in various locations and professions, are all on one accord, singing again, but this time with a slight twist.  The Brothers have added light Rhythm and Blues and message music to their repertoire. One of the missions of the brothers is their desire to preserve good soul music.   The Brothers will be performing at The Hampton B. Allen Library in Wadesboro, NC on Monday, July 10 at 10:30 a.m.

The reason why we sing!

For years, churches have been the strength of the Black community, providing spiritual health, moral guidance, resources, etc. Church buildings require maintenance, upkeep and paid employees.  Too many churches in poor communities can have an adverse effect.

Election 2022 has finally happened.  The people who voted have made their selections of who will lead this country.  Those of us who decided not to vote, let it up to those of us who did.   The 2020 presidential election had the highest voter turnout of the 21st Century and that was only 66.8% of eligible voters.

LC had one of its most beautiful and enlightening Homecomings in recent memory.  Folks were everywhere and there was a spirit of love and magic in the air.  Up jumped the devil!   The blackest bus in America is headed our way.  We're going to Black the town out in anticipation of its arrival.  Tune in for details!
