Some live songs from The Whigs at their SXSW showcase in 2006. This show wasn't mixed the best...unfortunately....but we have tried to make available the best "sounding" songs, so you don't think that they sound poorly mixed all the time. (Some instruments are too low, and some vocals are too loud.) We'd rather spread the joy, then just let it let sit. Go see them live when they come to your town, you won't regret it. Recorded March 15th, 2006, at Bourbon Rocks during SXSW. - Austin, TX. First broadcast on Music For Listeners June 3rd, 2006.

Jens Lekman and Friends - Three selections from his set at Emo's - October 25th, 2005 - Recorded exclusively for Music For Listeners. - October 25th, 2005 - Austin, TX.
Three songs personally picked by Jens for MFL broadcast and podcast. From his live set at Emo's, October 25th, 2005 Jens sang and played guitar and kalimba. Tony Rogers on cello. Rick Nelson on violin. Gary Olson on trumpet. Terese Nordstrom on bass. Tammy Karlsson on drums, and Nedelle sang back-up and opened the show! Voxtrot played after Jens for some reason. Voxtrot is of course, very good, but even Voxtrot was baffled by this. We all think it was because Jens didn't want to headline, but it doesn't really matter. This line-up was my (Michael) personal favorite show of 2005, and Orly and I saw a lot of shows too! Special thanks to Jens for letting us record this show. I think MFL was the only radio show to receive permission to document the 2005 U.S. tour. He had a good feeling we would get a good recording...I think we did. - First broadcast on Music For Listeners - March 4th, 2006.

Taste Test on the streets of Austin at 6th and Red River. We plugged our recorder into a power invertor located in The Spinto Band's van, and away we went. Recorded August 19th, 2005 - Austin, TX. Host Michael Thomas talks with Brandon and Christian from The Earlies. Recorded March 16th, 2005 - Austin, TX before their first ever show in America. Never aired on KRTU, but you really really should listen to this exclusive podcast. Orlando and I think this band might be the most overlooked band making music now. This is totally based on how strong their first release 'These Were the Earlies' is, how strong of a live band they are, and what smashing people make up the band. Why aren't you listening to the Earlies? Pictures available at www.musicforlisteners.com/pictures.htm
