    Changing Careers with McGyver the Golden Retriever

    "I always say I won the dog lottery. I'm so grateful he's the one I got to keep." In this episode, we chat with Grace about McGyver, her six-year-old golden retriever and career-changed guide dog for the blind. Raised by Grace through Guide Dogs for the Blind, McGyver was cut from the program as a COVID puppy after a scary encounter with kids at a daycare. He's been the Quality Assurance officer at Grace's work ever since.

    "He's such a good dog. He's just a jerk." In this episode, we chat with Danielle about Jiro, her 13-year-old Shiba Inu who was started out as the only puppy in his litter, competed in the show ring, and has spent the last decade making it very clear that his human's schedule exists to serve him. We get into why the perfect puppy turned into a self-important jerk at 18 months, how he peels back every rug in the house when meals are 10 minutes late, and why he's somehow the best-behaved dog at a restaurant but will scream at you if you pet him for too lon.

Charlie is a rescue who came with some anxiety and resource guarding, and George was brought home practically to be Charlie's therapy dog! We get into Charlie's behavioral journey, how Genevieve learned to read her signals and manage her triggers, and why George is arguably the most passive dog alive.     "Kirby is one of those like, 'Hey guys! Hey guys! Hey, hey, guys! Guys! Let's go, let's go, let's go!' And then Phil is a little bit more goofy: 'Hey guys, just let me curl up.' And then 'Oh no! What's happening? There's someone over there! It's a FedEx truck. I'm just gonna be a noodle.'" Meet Kirby and Phil: two black-and-white supermutts who came from different backgrounds but  complemented each other instantly. In this episode, their mom Kate chats about Kirby's cattle dog bossiness, Phil's noodle-on-your-feet sweetness, snowy adventures near Alpental, and life with two tuxedo dogs who very much run the household.

    Riding in Style with Georgie the Papillon/Chihuahua Mix

    "I always dreamed of having a dog in my lap, like hanging his head out the window while I'm running a locomotive." In this episode, we chat with Kat and her 2.5-year-old Papillon/Chihuahua mix, Georgie Porgie, a one-gerbil-sized puppy turned 15-pound certified co-pilot. Georgie logs two to three miles a day, hits the beach rain or shine, and looks out for his "big brother" Ghost at the dog park. As a railroad conductor, Kat has taken Georgie along for the ride on the locomotive, ear protectors and all, making him one of the most well-traveled dogs in the Pacific Northwest.

    Choosing Her Family with Hippo the American Bully

    "I told her to send me a message, send me a feeling... I would know […] Out comes Hippo. She attacks us with love." Sarah wasn't looking for another dog after losing her beloved Layla, until a Facebook ad stopped her mid-scroll. She drove an hour to Contra Costa Animal Services, where the dog she came for wanted nothing to do with her. Hippo had other plans! Six weeks later, the 76.5-pound former stray is fully settled into her furever home: destroying toys in under 15 minutes, barking at fast-moving animals on TV, and snuggling her way into everyone's hearts.
