In this episode, I recorded a therapy session where I discuss my trans dad and try to work through some of the trauma associated with that. I've never discussed this at length with my therapist before, and it came up naturally a few sessions ago, so I recorded it, and then made it ethically compliant by removing her voice and filling in so listeners know what's going on.Content warning - there is a brief mention of sexual assault that I experienced just after I mention that I was depressed through my senior year of high school. If you skip forward maybe 15 seconds at that point you'll skip that audio.I hope that this sheds some light to people on the gravity of working through the very real trauma of having a transgender parent. In my first episode, I discuss why I am sharing my experience around my dad being transgender, I talk about my anxiety a little, and emphasize that I want this to be a community for children of transgender people to be there for each other in all our range of experiences.
