My West Brom Story
by Dale Brookes
A huge West Brom fan who will be sharing all of my Baggies memories since 1991, while adding some audio commentary.

Not worried!
Well it's a shame we couldn't end it with a win, but let's just forget 2025/26 season ever happened, draw a line under it and hit the refresh button in the summer. Hear my Sheffield Wednesday review, player ratings for the season, favourite game and more as I bring another West Brom campaign in my life to a close.
-
111
We settled it on the pitch!
We’ve done it! At last we can now say we are mathematically safe and will be playing in the Championship again next season. It’s been a hard slog especially at times, but we are over the line and that’s all that matters.Hear me and Dad with our pre-Baggies chat. Uncle Roy remembers an Ipswich memory, plus the usual in-game reports on how it happened.
-
110
Safety secured or is it?
Well that’s it we are safe now. Oh no hang on we might not be? It’s all a complete chaotic mess off the pitch isn’t it with this possible pending points deduction. However, what certainly is not chaotic is our performances on the pitch! Another brilliant display 3 goals and a clean- sheet. Mozza for Albion! That’s all I can say. Hear the goal reports from the Watford win, a Baggies chat with Dad (apologies for the audio at the beginning. - it was recording from the car audio by mistake 🙈 ) and those Preston goals too. It’s good to be back! 😊💙🤍
-
109
Another battling point towards survival?
I think so! Another stalemate, but it’s now 4 clean sheets out of the last 5. What a transition compared to what we had been witnessing under the previous regime. The mini Tony Pulis effect really is taking its toll now isn’t it. You can see organisation, structure, game plans for each game and most of all looking solid at the back.Hear my pre-match, in-game and Baggies chat as we make yet another important step towards Championship survival.
-
108
Meet my Aussie Albion family!
Well it’s fair to say it wasn’t a classic was it? But, if you can’t win it don’t lose it. Unbeaten in 6 under Mozza and 4 points above the dreaded drop, I’d have snatched your arm off for that after the Oxford game.Hear my pre Baggies chat with Dad and then my Australian family all have a quick say on all things Albion, along with the usual in-game review away at Blackburn.
-
107
We’ve had worst days!
Of course it’s disappointing to throw away a 2-0 lead in any game, but I always thought Wrexham were going to be a tough nut to crack. So in hindsight it’s not a bad result and it keeps us 4 points out of danger for now. But, it’s not all about the game in this episode as the Brookes family get treated to a nice surprise!
-
106
The stories go on!
I love producing my season reviews and going back on those wonderful memories that I have made following my beloved Baggies! So, with the international break in full swing, and no Albion men’s senior football. Here is the latest one for you to sit back and enjoy. It includes a radio interview, a competition which changed my life, a wedding. Plus, could I turn a Man Utd fan into a Baggie and more.
-
105
An away win at last!
Finally the monkey is off our back in terms of that elusive away win!I could get used to these weekends again 😊and what a way to give us a send off ahead of the international break. Beaming with positively - I give my usual thoughts on the Bristol City win and throw in some Baggies chat and memories. 💚💛
-
104
Taming the Tigers!
Awesome, outstanding, throughly entertaining. I could go on! Three smiles, three goals and three points! This is an Albion side I can get used to watching. From the off we were up and at them and hardly gave Hull a moments peace.Without doubt the best performance of the season and a clean-sheet to boot - lovely!!!Hear a second goal mistake, that Blackburn away game memory plus the usual in-game, pre-game and post game chat and commentary about our beloved Baggies as we finally see another win! 😊💙🤍
-
103
Something to hang onto?
The performance, spirit and fight was there again, and that does give me a glimmer of hope, but in truth we are clinging on now aren’t we?That’s how it feels after that gut wrenching last gasp equaliser. Not finishing teams off, not getting that 2nd killer goal, it’s happened far too often hasn’t it?As always hear the pre-match, in-game chat and commentary as we once again fly up and down with emotions watching West Bromwich Albion.
-
102
We deserved that!
Wow what a week or so a change can make in football eh?I feared the worst after last weekend, but to go there and show grit, determination and most importantly fight to earn that draw really was impressive! Hear me re-live that George Campbell strike, reminisce a time to forget at Bramall Lane and give my review on that well earned point at Sheffield United. 😊💚💛
-
101
Magical day off the field, but definitely not on it!
A brilliant day for my lad who was one of the mascots for the game. Sadly the special day could not be matched with yet another lacklustre performance.I tick off a new ground - hear how many my total has got up to now! Could be more next season though the way it’s going!😬Mom, Dad and the other mascot’s Grandma chip in with their Albion thoughts, plus more!
-
100
Had to be done
So all change once again then. Ramsey has gone and I give my brief thoughts at the start.Hear me and Dad as we take a walk down memory lane playing Charlton, as well as throwing him a little quiz question! The usual pre-game, in-game and after game thoughts as it happened.
-
99
Dropping like a stone!
I’m just extremely thankful Leicester have been deducted those points that’s all I can say, because oh my word we would be in a mess! Well we are anyway, but the table would look a damn sight worse that’s for sure.Yet another turgid performance with not many positives, but I did manage to find one, whilst Dad also has his say at the game.
-
98
Still no win for Ramsey
Well I must admit I expected it to be a challenge against the flying Canaries, but it’s yet another damaging defeat with more questions than answers. On the positive - an away day family game is revealed as birthday and valentines all come together- plus of course my Norwich review.
-
97
Definitely not feeling the Blues
Another clean-sheet, another spirited performance! At least there’s no ‘Brookes’ divide this time around either. The points are shared, but of course as is always the case there was one side of the family happier than the other. 😉Hear my son and daughter’s pre-match prediction, along with my usual brief review on the game.
-
96
A big chance missed!
Hindsight is a wonderful thing isn’t it? A point and a clean-sheet normally isn’t that bad and maybe it isn’t as at least we didn’t lose. But, I can’t help thinking that was a big missed opportunity. Stoke were there for the taking and we didn’t do enough!Dad ‘s back from his break! Hear his thoughts amongst a couple of others as well as the usual in-game, pre-game and post-game discussion.
-
95
Another horror show!
Forget the Pompey chimes, this is West Bromwich Albion in full decline! What another miserable away day, performance and result. This really is turning out to be a season in turmoil isn’t it. No fight, no desire,.no passion - I could go on! I do find a couple of positives, such as WBA Women! But, in the main it’s my feelings after another abject display.
-
94
It felt like a win!
That’s better isn’t it? The unwanted record breaking stops here now hopefully. About time we had some luck go our way - especially on the road. How crucial may that point be come the end of the season I don’t know. As ugly as it may have been we’ve grounded out a result and at the end of the day that’s what will keep us up - results not performances!Hear my view on the game, how I broke a personal action for only the second time in my Albion life time! Plus, the usual positives and more!
-
93
A rude awakening!
Wow did I not see that coming? Did any of us see that coming? Even I cannot take any positives out of that apart from meeting George Kirk of West Brom Fan TV.Starting off with usual Albion chit-chat and then in-game views of not just me , but others.
-
92
A see-saw of emotions!
Well Eric Ramsey’s in-game management almost got us off the hook didn’t it? So, there’s something different from the Mason era straight away.Almost a complete heroic comeback, but too much respect early on gifted the result for me. Hear me touch on WBA Women, the Albion goals as they happened, and explain why I’m definitely not Steve Hermon and more!
-
91
An away win at last!
Doesn’t matter how they come does it? A win is a win and through to the FA Cup Fourth Round! Hear my usual thoughts on the game and little bit about the new boss we now have at B71.Exciting times? Let’s hope so! 💙🤍
-
90
How did we not win that?
Outfoxed again! 🙄Pardon the pun - I remember Leicester doing this to us when we played so well at their place under Corberan a couple of seasons ago. They should never have won that one either! But, this is a results business and now Ryan Mason has gone, maybe we can start to look forward. 🤞Hear my Leicester review, brief Head Coach thoughts, messages from some lovely listeners and more!
-
89
New year, same old Albion!
Another away defeat. When does it stop? Another mistake for their goal, when does it stop? It’s so puzzling and frustrating isn’t it. We deserved something again on the road, but once again came home with nothing.Hear my view on the game, a post-Xmas wish for Bilkul, our horrendous New Year’s Day record and more.
-
88
‘Heading’ into 2026 with a bang!
Pardon the pun, but two headed goals saw us complete revenge over QPR in yet another stylish Second half performance. It was like replica Sheffield United wasn’t it? We wanted it, we battled for it and we won it!Happy new year to all my wonderful followers and listeners. What a nice way to end the year eh - Boing Boing!
-
87
Things can only get better!
It’s really true isn’t it being a West Brom fan right now sitting closer to the bottom of the table than the top. Of course it could be worse, but we are not used to this in recent times are we?Hear the in-game pod which includes favourite Boxing Day games, a couple of different voices, although only brief, how did she become a Baggie? And more!
-
86
Junior Baggies, Hull - plus my favourite Albion Christmas
Not how we wanted to start Christmas off with another away defeat was it? But, there were positives to take from it to keep your Christmas spirits in chime hopefully!Hear my Junior Baggies party review, thoughts on Hull City result and my favourite Albion Christmas.Once again, I’d like to wish all my followers and listeners a very happy Christmas with all of your families. Thanks again for your wonderful support and listening! 💙🤍As always feel to drop any messages to me on X @NostalgicBaggie, or any of your listening devices or even by email to: [email protected]

Second half Albion strike again!
What a Friday night that was under the Hawthorns lights!. Going from Negative thoughts to Positive outcomes!Cutting down the Blades in style! Alright, alright it wasn’t that convincing in the First half, but we made up for it in the Second didn’t we?In this one, a quick Southampton review, the Sheffield United in-game pod along with a correct prediction, Mason, the goals as they happened, and much more for your listening pleasure (hopefully!). 😜UTA! 💙🤍
-
84
This time you don’t change it at 2-0 down!
Another frustrating away defeat and performance. 😞At least you’ve got this podcast to cheer you up with eh? Haha! Well it certainly cheered me up doing it anyway. Seriously, I talk all sorts in this one from my train experience, to Junior Baggies, to Slaven Bilic oh and the QPR review of course. I don’t know how I get onto these conversations, but it’s all good fun!
-
83
Gutted, but still smiling!
We’ve only waited since 1992 for this sweet revenge. On that occasion, we were 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go only to lose 3-2! But, this time it was our turn to produce an emphatic comeback! Sadly I didn’t make it, but still give my brief review on the bits I saw and explain why I missed it! 😞I’m gutted I did and if it would have been my choice - believe me I would have been there! On another note, of course I’m delighted! Boing Boing!💙🤍
-
82
Should have been dead and buried!
Just like Leicester at home, we blew the chance of getting 3 points. Again sitting too deep and inviting pressure onto us when we did not need to! That was my mini take of it anyway.Blues were there for the taking, but we didn’t finish them off, and were once again made to pay for it and rightly so!At least we didn’t lose but the wife will be happier that’s for sure. Enjoy nevertheless!
-
81
How did we throw that away?
From 2-0 up and coasting to yet another away defeat. I had two words for this episode to explain it for me which you will hear if you listen, plus my mini Coventry review. The wife also has her say on that crucial meeting between us in midweek. Those that listen regularly will know exactly what I mean!😬 The face tells you everything of how I’m feeling right now!

My feeling after Charlton
Déjà vu! Well it certainly feels like it doesn’t it?Norwich City, Bristol City and now Charlton all in the space of a few months. There are probably others, but this seems to be a constant theme of conceding late goals and losing. We can never seem to do it at the other end or look like we could can we?There were positives, but is it too late?. Hear my brief thoughts after our fantastic away support yet again had to suffer another loss on the road.
-
77
Sheffield Wednesday review & Rich Sant
Well where do we start? Another hard watch at the Hawthorns after a poor goalless draw with bottom of the table. Big thanks to Rich Sant for coming on the pod - definitely the highlight of the podcast and day! Big apologies for the mic this week. Tried a new mic. Don’t think I’ll be using it again lol. you can still hear though but the quality dips in and out. Enjoy - nevertheless. Roll on Charlton! 😬
