New Media World: Business, Life, Freedom

In this episode, after 40+ episodes, I share my reflections on the second season of New Media World. I talked about the many amazing entrepreneurs I was grateful to have on the show and what I have learned from them.

Cesare Rocchi is a software maker, speaker and writer. He is currently working on Podrover. He blogs at Upbeat and he hosts the Cocoaconf podcast.

Todd Cochrane is the CEO of Blubrry. He is an author, new media and podcast advertising expert, Podcast Hall of Fame Inductee, and a 12-year podcaster! Todd retired from the US Navy in 2007 with experience in Advanced Airborne Avionic Systems to include EW/Radar/CSM/SAR/IR/ with in depth knowledge of RF systems and components. He retired from the US Navy as a Senior Chief with 24 years active service. He has worked as a government tech rep involved in design, installation, operational testing, and evaluation of new mission systems along with managing multiple aircraft modifications across multiple depot repair facilities worldwide.

Zohar Dayan is the Co-Founder and CEO of Wibbitz. He is a self-educated software developer and graphic designer with a strong passion for combining smart UX, minimalistic design, and clever technology.

Krishna De is a digital strategy and social media communications speaker, commentator, educator, and mentor. She's a judge of several Irish digital marketing awards and developed and leads the certificate and social media communication for the PR Institute of Ireland.

Nicola Cairncross is the Founder of the self funded 6-figure startup ClicksAndLeads.com and co-host of Own It! Your Business & Your Life Podcast. Nicola left school at 16 with only three core skills: the ability to talk, a love of books and the ability to type.

Paul Boag is the author of Digital Adaptation. He is a leader in digital and user experience strategy with over 20 years experience. Through consultancy, speaking, writing, training and mentoring, he passionately promotes digital best practices.

Joshua Rivers is an Oklahoma-based podcast producer and podcaster at Podcast Guy Media. He started with websites many years ago which he started to build into a business sometime in 2012-2013. When it didn't get a whole lot of traction, so he started podcasting and producing podcasts. Joshus is currently aiming to build his podcast production business to replace his full-time income.

Nick Loper is the founder of Side Hustle Nation, his website that showcases his successes and failures, as well as the actionable lessons from dozens of fellow side hustle entrepreneurs. Some of the biggest pet peeves are people who insist on introducing themselves with a middle initial.

Janet Murray is a journalist and PR coach who helps businesses and brands tell their story in the media. Janet has been featured in dozens of national and international publications including the Guardian, Huffington Post, Daily Telegraph, Entrepreneur, BBC Online, The Sun, Daily Mail & many more. Janet is also a blogger, speaker and podcaster and runs her business from her garden ‘shedquarters’, local coffee shop or wherever she happens to be in the world (and thanks her lucky stars for it every day).

Bridget Harris is the CEO and co-founder of YouCanBookMe, a cloud-based service which allows your customers to schedule appointments and make bookings with you using your online calendar. She is also the previous special advisor for Deputy Prime Minister in the UK.

Francesco Baschieri is the founder and CEO of Spreaker, a platform for creating, distributing, and monetizing podcasts and live radio shows. Spreaker currently has more than 6.5 million monthly users and has offices in Italy and the USA. It has won a number of prizes and awards, including the “Most Promising European Startup” at the Microsof Bizspark European event in 2013. Francesco is also a lecturer at the University of Bologna where he teaches a course in Digital Entrepreneurship.

Pete Matthew is a Chartered Financial Planner, Certified Financial Planner, and Managing Director of Jacksons Wealth Management. He also runs his own business for MeaningfulMoney.tv, a website that conveys Pete's belief that financial planning is really simple and for a lot of people.

Colin Gray is a podcaster, writer, and has a PhD in education. He specialises in engaging through content with podcasting at its core. His company, The Podcast Host, helps businesses to grow an audience by combining podcasting, blogging, and video.

Rye Taylor is a story architect and podcast launch strategist for many of today's New York Times bestselling authors, influencers, and businesses. He's the host of Daring & Rye podcast and writer for Huffington Post, among many other publications.

Judith Morgan became self-employed in 1977 at the tender age of 22. She started her own firm of accountants and sold it later twenty years later for a six-figure sum. A few years later, she began again as a business mentor and serial entrepreneur.

Tracey Burnett is a business and marketing mentor for women entrepreneurs. She is also the founder of Leads to Success, a digital marketing agency providing social media advertising, videos, online marketing campaigns, and website design. Her life and passion is food and health which led her to study and become certified as a holistic health coach.

Patrick Powers is one of Europe's top experts on entrepreneurship, small business marketing, persuasion, and influence. He is also a founder of Entrepreneurs In London, Europe's biggest meetup group on a platform call Meetup.com and also the third biggest group in the world with over 17000 members.

Chloe Thomas is the creator of eCommerce MasterPlan, an author, a speaker, a podcast host, and expert in eCommerce strategy and marketing. She helps eCommerce business owners make better decisions. She speaks at client conferences and this year, she also started writing whitepapers and website content. Chloe has written several books including eCommerce Marketing, eCommerce MasterPlan, eCommerce Delivery, and Customer Manipulation.

Katrina Burrus specialises in coaching international and highly mobile leaders. She has a proven track record in working with numerous international companies including Nestle, Novartis, United Bank of Switzerland, United Nations, and the World Trade Organisation. She is also a regular user of new media tools in creating podcasts, videos, blogs, and more.

Pilar Orti, the Director of Virtual, Not Distant, uses technology to strengthen connections between people. Lisette Sutherland is based in The Netherlands and is the Director of Collaboration Superpowers, a company that helps teams work together from anywhere. Lisette is also the remote team manager for the all-remote freelance team at Happy Melly.

Valerie Groth currently runs a life coaching practice working with individuals who come to her from around the world. Valerie loves working with her clients on overcoming fear, gaining self-confidence, and making massive positive transformations in their life. She believes that everyone is capable of living an energized and impassioned life, and she loves to make the impossible POSSIBLE. Valerie is also a motivational speaker and workshop facilitator, as well as the host of the Inspiration With Val podcast.

Mark Asquith is a serial entrepreneur who has built globally successful design & marketing, SaaS and digital businesses since he quit his job in 2005. A passionate podcaster, perpetual learner, and helpful bloke, Mark has an adoring wife, a giant dog and an embarrassing beard.Mark had a small business podcast, Excellence Expected, and an all-in-one website and hosting solution for podcasts, Podcast Websites. Recently, Mark has been working with a few people on a project on artificial intelligence for entrepreneurs and professionals.

Paula Cordeiro is a digital media advisor for several broadcasters, music and media companies. She is also an author and delivers conferences about the constantly changing online world. She is currently an acting ombudsperson for public radio in Portugal. She is lecturing about digital media and developing the future of media on a digital hub called URBANISTA.

Corey Northcutt is a three-time founder, creating three successful businesses in three industries. His current project is an inbound marketing agency called Northcutt, which applies the marketing systems that he’s used in the past on the businesses of others.

Kevin Field is a multi-award winning media specialist and social entrepreneur. He is the founder and host of Radio Skills for Podcasters, a podcast and blog focused on the craft of creating powerful audio content that gets results. Kevin has extensive experience in radio. His passion has moved him to podcasting and the goal of his podcast is to share tips and secrets from the radio industry to help others build their own podcasts.

Phil Pallen is an LA-based brand strategist who builds brands for media personalities, professionals, and entrepreneurs. Some of his clients are media personalities who have appeared on shows such as Shark Tank, Dancing with the Stars, The X Factor, Project Runway, The Doctors, and many others.

Tony Brown is a business systems strategist, coach, author, and speaker. His goal is to help business owners and entrepreneurs to systemise their workflows, reduce their workload, and increase their productivity and profitability. Minesh Bhindi is a wealth manager at Gold and Silver For Life where his mission is to help busy professionals, small business owners, and private investors to transform their investment results for reliable, consistent, and easy profits. He also runs a personal blog, Introspections From The Journey.

Ryan is a US citizen living in Germany and hosting a podcast called Your Business In English, a podcast for people who use English in their business even if English is not their first language. He is also the founder of Englisch in München.

Jon is a small business marketing expert and an entrepreneur. He is also the man behind the Marketing for Owners podcast. Jon started his own business as a young man selling fire extinguishers! He was able to grow his business using marketing and sales methods he learned from big companies. The methods he tweaked, tested, and improved on worked really well – he was able to sell his business for a 7-digit figure!

In this episode, I gathered the courage to be on my own. I shared my thoughts on working as an entrepreneur, on the new schedule I set for myself, and challenging status quo.
