In 1348 a mysterious plague from the East spread from Crimea to Europe, resulting the death of between 30% and 60% of the population of Europe. The Black Death was an event so monumental it is forever etched into history and even in our genome.

In 1235, against the backdrop constant conflict between Jews and Christians in Medieval Europe, a Kairite Jew named Nicholas Donin converted to Christianity and made 35 charges of blasphemy against the Talmud to Pope Gregory IX.
