067: 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, Stranger Things, The Golden Globes
This week we go deep into the dark depraved zombie world known as THE GOLDEN GLOBES! 2026 is already starting off promising with a sequel like 28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE and a horror shlock fest PRIMATE. Catch up with 2025 releases seemed to be underwhelming with THE SECRET AGENT and THE MASTERMIND. On the TV side of things, I watched one show with a giant fantasy spider fight (STRANGER THINGS) and another show where a women does random tasks in silence (PLURIBUS). Welcome to 2026! I kick off the new year by bitching about some cultural trends that need to stay in 2025. Timothée Chalamet may be hot but not as hot as my take on MARTY SUPREME! Aqua-god-director James Cameron delivers audiences a whopping three plus hour adventure back to Pandora with AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH! I catch up with some indie darlings like IF I HAD LEGS I'D KICK YOU and foreign language favorites like IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT. In a stunning turn of events, Netflix is buying Warner Brothers! Is cinema over as we know it!? In addition to all their business endevors, Netflix has been dominating the end of the year with an entire slew of Oscar contenders like Jay Kelly, Train Dreams, Frankenstein, and the new season of Stranger Things. 050: CHICKEN JOCKEY (i hate myself)
The movie theaters have been ravaged by a bunch of 13 year olds so I didn't bother seeing the new big meme movie hit "A Minecraft Movie". But much like the begining of last year, there seems to be a ton of big TV projects out right now when there hasn't been much of anything good going on in the theater aside from the ocassional gem. I attempted to check out Severance and the new season of White Lotus just wraped up. But I still keep myself doing triple features of 90 minute movies to see what's out there. So I checked out the new Blumhouse "The Women in the Yard", Alex Garland's quick follow-up to last year's Civil War, "Warfare", Christopher Landon's new Hitchcock-esc thriller "DROP", and of course, I COULD NOT RESIST seeing the next public domain slasher "Popeye the Slayer Man"! Q1 of 2025 is OVER and it has not been a good for movies so far. Dan rants for like 30 minutes about Ashton Hall's morning routine, Kanye's new "album", and the state of the attention economy. BUT there has also been some good TV shows like Netflix's "Adolescence" or Apple TV's "The Studio". Was there anything good in theaters this past weekend? Not really! but I still managed to see A24's horror comedy with Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd "Death of a Unicorn" and David Ayer's new hunk a shi- I mean action movie with JASON Statham!!Support the showSocials:PatreonYouTubeTwitterLetterboxdInstagramTwitchTikTok

Anything good come out of SXSW in Austin other than your favorite podcasts doing live shows? I talk about maybe the worst movie of the year out on Netflix from the Avenger guys?
