Maybe the real question isn’t “Is this it?” but “What do I want to make of it?”

This week, we say the quiet parts out loud. How much of marriage is romance… and how much is Google Calendar? When does love turn into maintenance?  We’re talking long-term partnership reality — sex changes, frequency drops, resentment builds, and sometimes passion has to be scheduled. We get honest about mental load, roommate mode, emotional labor in straight vs. queer relationships, and the weird pressure both dynamics carry. Stability can feel boring. Passion takes effort. And you can deeply love your life while still grieving who you used to be.

Quiet part? Straight marriage is assumed stable. Queer marriage has to prove it. Straight women over-function. Lesbians over-communicate. Different dynamics. Same maintenance.
