EP 23: Comparison, Competition, & the Truth About “Getting Lucky”

In this solo episode of the Nomad CEO Podcast, I’m recording from Chiajna, Romania — in an Airbnb that definitely did not match the photos — talking about something that’s very real for me right now: luck. After a decade of sacrifice, crying nights, risk, & relentless work to build a business that allows me to travel full-time, I often hear, “You’re so lucky,” or “It must be nice.” & if I’m honest? It’s triggered defensiveness in me. In this episode, I unpack what’s underneath that reaction — & what I’m learning about curiosity, comparison, & creation.   In This Episode, I Share: The 10-year journey behind the “overnight success.” Why being called lucky can feel disconnected How curiosity dissolves comparison & judgment The affirmation that shifted me: I refuse to compare. I simply encourage. I refuse to compete. I simply create. The difference between competing for worth vs. creating from alignment The 4-part intersection of meaningful work: what you love, what you’re gifted in, what the world needs, & what people will pay for My reminder to you: When you focus inward & create from alignment, you stop chasing the spotlight — & you become the lighthouse. In this solo episode of the Nomad CEO Podcast, I’m sharing my full health journey — the messy, obsessive, painful, & redemptive parts of it. I grew up finding comfort in food, struggled with body image from a young age, & eventually fell into a binge-purge cycle & exercise addiction in college. At 19, I walked into my first 12-step meeting. Years later, I was diagnosed with bulimia. That diagnosis didn’t define me — it gave me a path forward. Here’s what I’ve learned after 13 years as a trainer & nutrition coach working with over 1,000 clients: In This Episode, I Share: How my childhood shaped my relationship with food The performance-driven identity that fueled my eating disorder The moment I decided I wasn’t going to let my health control my life How I rebuilt self-trust with simple daily habits Why health is a three-legged stool: mental, physical, & relational How to stop being a victim to your body & start becoming a lifelong learner My belief is simple: health is the foundation that fuels your ambition. EP 19: Why I Don’t Believe Everyone Should Be on Social Media

In this episode of the Nomad CEO Podcast, I share my honest relationship with social media & why I chose to delete it long before building publicly again. I talk about walking away in 2016 after realizing that comparison was quietly draining my confidence, joy & sense of self. Leaving social media was not about hiding; it was about getting healthy. I came back years later, only when I could show up from alignment, not validation. What I cover: • Why comparison is a signal, not a flaw • How stepping away created clarity, confidence, & connection • Replacing consumption with intention • Building real relationships without a platform • Returning to social media from wholeness, not need • Using social media as a tool, not a weapon Things I said in this episode: • If you are thinking about deleting social media, it is worth it • You have to add something life-giving when you remove something draining • I only came back when I no longer needed validation • I care more about connection than followers • Social media should serve your life, not run it I also share practical shifts that supported me • Replacing scrolling with books & intentional learning • Creating a private connection through shared photo streams • Choosing an in-person connection over an online presence • Setting boundaries with guard rails to protect focus & energy This episode is for anyone questioning their relationship with social media & ready to rebuild it from clarity, purpose, & self-trust.   Hey, consider this your "stop doomscrolling" invite. EP 17: Take Your Power Back, Reclaim Your Energy, Identity & Authority

In this episode of the Nomad CEO Podcast, I’m inviting you to take your power back in your relationships, health, business & life. This is a conversation I care deeply about because real-world change always starts internally. I share how daily renewal of the mind rewires the brain & why lasting change comes from what you consistently think, believe & apply. At World Changers, we believe changing the world starts by changing yourself. What we dive into: • What personal power actually is your gifting energy & sense of self • Why mentally strong people do not give their power away • How insecurity, scarcity & lack quietly steal your power • The difference between awareness & blame • Why your power is always your responsibility • How small internal shifts compound into massive life change Things I said in this episode: • Taking your power back starts with awareness, not shame • Power is your energy, your authenticity & your brilliance • Playing small does not serve the world • When you give your power away, you disconnect from who you really are • You cannot change the world if you are disconnected from yourself I also walk through a simple process to reclaim your power: 1. Identify your power 2. Notice when you lost it 3. Understand how & why it happened 4. Release blame & victimhood 5. Choose responsibility & awareness 6. Reclaim your energy & step back into who you were created to be This episode is for anyone ready to stop shrinking, stop outsourcing their worth & start living in alignment with their calling. What I open up about • Addiction as a spiritual void, psychological disconnect & physiological deficiency • The day I realized sugar had more power over me than I had over myself • Why deciding means to cut off, not to negotiate • How one decision made thousands of future decisions easier • Letting go of sugar alcohol & coping patterns • Why nomad life requires sacrifice, responsibility & clarity • Being a CEO who follows through when everything falls apart • The Fiji retreat chaos & why commitment always finds a way Highlights: “I only saw pain, no pleasure anymore.” “If your actions have not changed, you have not decided.” “Nomad does not just mean freedom it means responsibility” “When you truly decide, you will always find a way.” “You are worth the decision & the outcome, but you have to fight for it” This episode is for anyone stuck in indecision, addiction, overwhelm, or fear. EP 12: Chainsaws, Courage & Conscious Leadership: How Shelby Descamps Builds Powerful Humans

In this episode of The Nomad CEO Podcast, Ken sits down with Shelby Descamps — leadership development facilitator for the Idaho National Guard, former wildland firefighter, and life coach — to explore what it really means to lead with courage, integrity, and emotional intelligence. Shelby shares her unconventional journey from studying animal science at California State University, Chico, to fighting wildfires across the Mountain West and Alaska. A conservation corps project in the North Kaibab National Forest sparked her entry into fire, where running chainsaws and working in high-risk environments taught her powerful lessons about focus, fear, and self-trust. The conversation delves into the balance between hard and soft leadership skills, the importance of physical vitality as a leadership tool, and the mentors who shaped her philosophy along the way. Shelby also breaks down practical frameworks for giving and receiving feedback, including SBI, the Pendleton Method, and her favorite, the BOOST method — tools that help people navigate difficult conversations with clarity and confidence. Shelby opens up about her transition into life coaching, her passion for facilitating transformational retreats with accountability built in, and why having an objective third party can be a game-changer for personal growth. This episode is a powerful exploration of leadership, communication, resilience, and what it takes to build strong humans — in business and in life. ⭐️ Find Shelby on Instagram @mindbodyauthority   Enjoying the conversation? EP 3: The Top 3 Things I Sucked at to Get Here

In this episode of The Nomad CEO Podcast, I get real about the top three things I royally sucked at in 2025 & how working through them helped me grow as a nomad, CEO & human. Even though I am literally living my dream of traveling full-time & working for myself, the journey is still a fight. My goal is not just success, it is impact. Success will impress people, but failure truly impacts them, & I want to share the lessons from mine. The three things I struggled with most last year Regulating My Nervous System 2025 felt like an instant pot of stress. Panic attacks, anxiety & restlessness showed me my old coping tools were not enough. Somatic breathwork taught me how to reconnect with my body & make nervous system regulation non-negotiable. I am still learning, but I have come a long way. Budgeting I have tracked my finances for years, but building a business on inconsistent income pushed me out of my habits. Big projects, retreats & nomad life expenses added up fast. The first three months as a nomad were spent in a low-cost area to course-correct, and I learned how critical it is to balance personal finances with business growth. Marketing My Message As the founder of World Changers, I am in the bottle, seeing every detail & vision. Explaining it clearly to others, the label outside the bottle, has been a challenge. Last year it felt overwhelming, but with guidance, clarity, & support, I have made progress, & I am still growing. These struggles shaped my mindset, my leadership & my ability to create meaningful impact globally.   Enjoying the conversation?Stay connected & join the movement: 📍 Follow Kens (Host) IG: https://www.instagram.com/nomad_ceo_/ LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/mckensie-stanton-765299325 🌍 World Changers: https://www.instagram.com/worldchangers.me/ ⚡ Elite Edge: https://www.instagram.com/elite_edge___/  📘 Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61586444813911    🎧 Available now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, & YouTube
