Episode 81: Lanterns Trailer, Where's the Green?!
The Lanterns trailer dropped, and honestly… I walked away feeling pretty damn optimistic about it.Right away, what stood out to me was the cop dynamic between Hal Jordan and John Stewart. It feels grounded, it feels investigative, and it already hints that there’s going to be a lot more depth to both characters than people might be expecting. You can already sense the mentor/partner tension brewing, and if the show leans into that, we could be in for something really special. But of course… the internet had other priorities.Instead of talking about the tone, the chemistry, or what the story might build toward, a lot of people immediately jumped to complaining about what wasn’t in the trailer. No green suit. No glowing green aura when Hal flies. No giant constructs. And look—I get wanting to see that stuff. We all do.But the reaction is starting to feel like people are just looking for cracks in the armor of the DCU and James Gunn’s vision before anything even has a chance to breathe. It’s getting exhausting. At some point, we’ve got to allow stories to build instead of demanding every visual payoff in the first teaser. So in this episode, I’m talking about why the Lanterns trailer actually gives us a lot to be excited about, what the Hal/John partnership might evolve into, and why patience might pay off big time with this show.Plus, I’m sharing a quick update on the future of the podcast starting next week.Beginning next week, I’ll be launching individual comic discussion segments on video over on my YouTube channel, where I’ll break down trailers, comic news, characters, and everything happening in the superhero world in shorter, focused videos. If you want more comic talk, reactions, and deeper breakdowns:👉 Subscribe to the channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@VoiceofGarciaNew video segments start next week, and I’d love to have you there as we keep building this community together.

Episode 80: Is James Gunn Staying… or Is 2027 the Exit Plan?
Alright… let’s talk about it.Today on Outside the Comics: Vol 3, I’m getting into something that’s been sitting in the back of my mind for a while: What happens to DC Studios if the Paramount–Warner Bros. merger actually goes through?James Gunn’s contract runs through July 2027. That’s not that far away. So the real question becomes — if corporate politics start creeping in, does that change everything?Would Paramount’s political ties and boardroom dynamics make things uncomfortable enough for Gunn to walk when his contract’s up? Or is his love for comic book movies, filmmaking, and building a long-term DC vision strong enough to keep him there… as long as nobody messes with his sandbox? This episode isn’t just speculation. It’s a real conversation about creative freedom vs. corporate control — and what that tension could mean for the future of DC.And at the end of the episode, I share something personal: a shift that may change the structure of this podcast moving forward. It’s me stepping outside my comfort zone and taking this show somewhere new.If you care about the future of DC, the business behind superhero films, and where all this could be heading…Tap follow. Leave a review. Drop a comment with your take — does Gunn stay in 2027, or is he gone?Let’s get into it.

Episode 79: Paramount Wins Warner Bros? | Sony's Reboot & Snyder Speaks
Today on Outside the Comics Vol. 3, we’ve got a lot to unpack.Word is that Paramount Pictures is now in the mix to acquire Warner Bros., which basically shuts Netflix out of the race. Some people think that’s a win. Some think it’s a disaster, yet at the end of the day, I just don’t want great movies losing their theatrical moments. Certain films deserve the big screen. That experience matters. On top of that, the CEO of Sony Pictures says they want to reboot the Sony Cinematic Universe. My only question is… what are you actually going to do differently this time? I offer a few real suggestions that could help them avoid the same mistakes. And finally, Zack Snyder talks about wanting to continue his version of Justice League — and shares his thoughts on the “toxic fans” conversation. This lines up with what I’ve been saying for weeks now, so we’re getting into all of it.If you care about where comic book movies — and the film industry overall — are headed, this episode’s for you.👉 Hit play, subscribe, and share it with someone who actually loves talking movies beyond just “was it good or bad?” Let’s have the real conversation.

Episode 78: Why Generative AI is going to Fail.
In Vol. 3 of Outside the Comics, Mike Garcia dives into why Generative AI is destined to fail. Beyond inconsistent quality, content theft, and the illusion of “creation,” the real downfall is human connection — audiences won’t emotionally connect with AI-generated content.Mike also breaks down the latest in animated superhero news: Sony Pictures Animation giving the green light for an R-Rated Venom movie, as well as Spider-Gwen and Spider-Punk films. With animation in full swing, creative freedom has never been higher, and Mike explores what that means for storytelling in the MCU and beyond.Tune in, hear the hot takes, and stay ahead of the curve in comics, animation, and media trends.CTA: Listen now and hear why AI can’t replace the human touch — and which superhero animations you need to watch next.

Episode 77: Spider-Noir Trailer is Here!
This week, I’m breaking down the brand-new Spider-Noir trailer starring Nicolas Cage — and let’s just say… the vibe is dark, gritty, and exactly what this character deserves. With all the Spider-Man content we’re getting this year, it honestly feels like we’re in a full-blown Spidey renaissance. And yes, I’m holding out hope that the Rubik’s Cube makes a slick little Easter egg appearance in the series.Over in DC territory, I dive a little into DC KO where certain Batmen fight against each other. And while we’re talking superheroes — can we please leave Tobey Maguire alone? The internet needs to relax. If you love comic book culture, real talk, and unapologetic fandom, this episode is for you.🎙️ Hit play, subscribe, and share the episode with your fellow nerds — let’s keep the conversation going.

Episode 76: Wonder Man and the Cost of Hiding Who You Are
In Outside the Comics Vol. 3, we step away from capes and spectacle to talk about why Marvel’s Wonder Man landed so deeply—and why it might be the superhero story we didn’t know we needed. This episode explores how Wonder Man breaks away from traditional superhero storytelling, focusing instead on identity, ambition, and the painful reality of hiding who you truly are to chase your dream. Through Simon Williams’ journey as an actor legally forbidden from revealing his powers, the show becomes a mirror for creatives who are told to “be authentic,” but only within limits. We dive into the emotional cost of the grind, the isolation that comes with pursuing a creative life, the powerful chemistry between Simon and Trevor, and the deeper meaning behind performance as truth—and performance as survival. From unanswered questions about Simon’s past to the heartbreak of Trevor’s ending, this episode reflects on sacrifice, guilt, and the invisible struggles people rarely see. With both critics and audiences rating the series over 90%, Wonder Man proves that sometimes the most heroic stories aren’t about saving the world—but about trying to stay true to yourself in one that won’t let you be.

Episode 75: Batman: Brave & the Bold — Am I Right to Be Worried?
Christina Hodson — screenwriter behind Birds of Prey, The Flash, and the canceled Batgirl — has officially been tapped to write Batman: The Brave & the Bold. And yeah… I’ve got concerns. On paper, this is a bold move. In practice, Hodson’s recent comic book track record hasn’t exactly inspired confidence, and if rumors are true that Andy Muschietti (The Flash, Welcome to Derry) may also be directing, it raises even more questions. Are we repeating past mistakes? Or are we misjudging the pieces before we see the full picture? Here’s the thing though — this Batman exists under James Gunn’s DCU. That changes everything. In this episode, I break down:Why Hodson’s past work makes fans uneasyAnd the real question: If this movie fails, does it actually damage the DCU — or just prove the skepticism was justified?I want this movie to be good. I’m rooting for it. And if it knocks it out of the park, I’ll gladly eat my words and give credit where it’s due.But if it doesn’t… we need to talk about what that means for DC going forward. There’s only one way to find out when Batman: The Brave & the Bold finally hits theaters.🎙️ Hit play, drop your thoughts in the comments, and subscribe for more unfiltered DC conversations, deep dives, and hot takes.

Episode 74: Why I Feel Bad for the Duffer Brothers
After watching the Stranger Things documentary on Netflix, I found myself feeling something I didn’t expect: sympathy for the Duffer Brothers. On Outside the Comics Vol. 3, I talk about how the creators behind one of the most important pop-culture shows of our time slowly became victims of their own success. Stranger Things grew bigger than anyone could realistically contain, and with that growth came pressure—from Netflix, from fans, and from the sheer scale of the production itself.Unlike Game of Thrones, where D&D rushed toward the finish line and paid the price, the Duffer Brothers clearly wanted time. But time is the one thing they didn’t have. The result? An ending that wasn’t terrible… but felt strangely safe and, at times, mediocre. This episode isn’t about hate—it’s about creative burnout, expectations, and what happens when art turns into a machine.🎙️ Listen, reflect, and let’s talk about it.

Episode 71: Why Steve Rogers Coming Back is NOT a Problem, it's a Solution
Marvel bringing back Steve Rogers isn’t a desperate move — it’s a necessary one.Since Endgame, Marvel has slowly lost the core audience that helped turn the MCU into a cultural phenomenon. Box office numbers reflect it, fan excitement has cooled, and many Phase 4 and 5 characters simply haven’t connected the same way. Bringing back Chris Evans as Steve Rogers isn’t about undoing the past — it’s about restoring the emotional foundation that made Marvel work in the first place. In this episode, I break down why Steve Rogers returning could help bring back the magic Marvel once had, which Phase 4 and 5 characters are actually worth getting excited about on the big screen, and why nostalgia only works when audiences loved the characters to begin with. I also compare Marvel’s approach to the SnyderVerse, where fans now demand returns for characters that were heavily criticized during their original runs — and how box office results tell a very different story than social media noise. We also dive into the growing gap between theatrical releases and streaming-first storytelling, and how that shift has changed the way superhero movies are experienced. If you care about where Marvel goes next — and whether superhero movies can recapture what made them special — this episode is for you.🎧 Listen now, follow the podcast, and join the conversation.

Episode 70: My Thoughts on Supergirl Trailer | Disney investing $1 Billion on OpenAI
In today’s episode, I break down my honest first reaction to the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow trailer. Was it mind-blowing? Not exactly. Was it bad? Not at all. I get into why I think it lands somewhere in the middle—and why some of the fan criticisms actually make sense. Yes, I see the comparisons to the Guardians of the Galaxy tone, but at the end of the day, every director has their own flavor, and we all gravitate toward the styles we love most. Then I pivot to the big industry shake-up: Disney investing $1 billion into OpenAI to use AI for their characters and creative pipeline. I talk about why this move might honestly be the thing that pushes me to step back from Marvel entirely if they decide to start producing content created solely by AI.If you’re into comics, film, animation, and the crossroads of creativity and technology—this is an episode you won’t want to miss.

Episode 68: The Batman 2: Scarlett Johansson as the Phantasm?!
Breaking news! Reports are coming out that Scarlett Johansson is in talks to join The Batman 2 — and if the rumors are true, chances are she’ll be playing Andrea Beaumont, setting up the long-awaited live-action debut of The Phantasm. In today’s episode, I break down why this casting news is massive not only for fans of Mask of the Phantasm, but for the entire future of comic book movies. If Reeves is truly bringing Andrea into the sequel, we might be witnessing the setup for one of the greatest Batman stories ever told on film.I explore why this storyline matters so much emotionally — especially for men who’ve dealt with the heartbreak of losing their first love. Bruce Wayne’s vulnerability, grief, and unresolved trauma have never been shown on this level in live action, and seeing that portrayed through Andrea Beaumont could hit harder than any villain we've had so far. Finally, I wrap up with an update on where I’m taking this podcast next and how everything will be fully revamped and relaunched heading into 2026.It’s a huge episode — breaking news, deep character analysis, and a behind-the-curtain look at my next steps as a creator. Episode 67: We HATE AI Dubbing!!!
In this episode, I dive into the uncomfortable truth: Marvel’s hype just isn’t hitting like it used to. With no major releases in a while, the buzz is fading fast—and it’s got me genuinely worried about how Avengers: Doomsday will perform when it finally drops. Then we head over to the DC side, where I break down why the highly requested Blue & Gray Batman suit just doesn’t land for me, even if the fandom’s been begging for it.To wrap it up, I go off on Amazon/Prime Video’s atrocious AI dubbing for Banana Fish. It’s robotic, soulless, immersion-breaking, and proves exactly why audiences hate AI replacing real voice actors. If you’re into comics, superheroes, and raw honest takes—this episode is for you.🎧 Listen now and join the conversation!

Episode 66: Stranger Things 5, Supergirl Hype & My Final Word on the SnyderVerse
In today’s episode, I dive into my thoughts on Stranger Things Season 5 so far — why I’m loving it, why I’m praying plot armor doesn’t tank the finale, and my fear of it turning into another Game of Thrones Season 8 situation.I also talk about the rumored Supergirl trailer dropping next week and what I really want to see within the movie with her character embracing her RAGE.Then, to close things out, I finally address the delusional SnyderVerse cult once and for all. No more debates, no more convincing people with basic common sense — I’m officially moving on and focusing on the projects that actually matter. If you enjoy the show, make sure to follow, share, and leave a rating to help the podcast grow. Episode 65: The Animated SnyderVerse: The Only Real Way It Comes Back
The SnyderVerse returning in animated form might be the most realistic—and honestly the BEST—path forward for Zack Snyder, Warner Bros., and the entire DC fandom. In this episode, Mike Garcia breaks down why animation gives Snyder more freedom than he ever had in live action, why it avoids the studio politics holding everything hostage, and why this move would finally expose who the real Snyder fans are… and who’s just clout-chasing because they hate James Gunn.We dive into:Why animation is NOT a downgradeHow Snyder could go full mythic without budget ceilingsWhy Gunn stays in live action (and why Snyder doesn’t)How this tests the Snyder fandom’s loyaltyWhy this is the cleanest “win-win” DC has had in yearsIf you want an honest, drama-free breakdown of what an animated SnyderVerse would actually mean for DC’s future, this episode is for you.Listen now — especially if you think you already know the answer.

Episode 64: Why the SnyderVerse Is Dead: Breaking Down the Delusion

From false “Saudi Arabia buying Warner Bros” conspiracies to the growing hate campaign against James Gunn, we separate fact from fan fiction. We also analyze Grace Randolph’s controversial 44% SnyderVerse poll, the misleading narratives pushed by influencers like Tyrus Magnus and Cosmic Book News, and the toxic hype machine keeping the SnyderVerse dream alive. If you want real talk, facts, and an honest look at modern DC fandom — this is the episode for you.The truth: The SnyderVerse is dead. Episode 63: Wonder Woman Coming to Man of Tomorrow?
In today’s episode, I break down the latest rumor: Wonder Woman possibly appearing in the Man of Tomorrow movie. Reports say they’re searching for a tall, physically built actress in her 20s… but honestly? I’m skeptical. James Gunn and Peter Safran haven’t confirmed anything, so take this one with a grain of salt.I also dive into Spider-Man’s potential new Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus. And look—these characters are iconic, but I’m really hoping Marvel gives us some fresh villains making their live-action debut instead of reusing the same faces.PLUS… big update: I’m doing the podcast LIVE on TikTok from now on! Episode 62: Disney+ Embraces AI — Is Bob Iger Risking Everything?
In today’s episode of Outside The Comics: Vol 3, we dive into three major conversations shaking up the fandom. First, Brainiac is officially confirmed as the main villain for Superman: Man of Tomorrow — so who should portray him, and what form of Brainiac would make the biggest impact in James Gunn’s DC Universe?Next, we shift to the casting world as Brie Larson steps in as Rosalina. Despite the online criticism, I break down why her genuine love for Nintendo makes her a natural fit — and why the hate needs to stop. Finally, the big one: Bob Iger and Disney+ embracing AI. I dissect why he’s doing it, what it means for the future of content, and how this risky shift might push longtime audiences away from the platform. If you enjoy these deep dives into everything comics, casting, and the future of entertainment, make sure to subscribe, share the episode, and leave a quick review — it helps the podcast grow more than you know. And as always… Be You, Be Super!

Episode 61: Predator Badlands Review | A Jimmy Olsen TV Series???
In today’s episode, I share my spoiler-free review of Predator: Badlands — and while the Predator makes an appearance, it doesn’t quite feel like a true Predator film. The action delivers, but the humor? Maybe a bit too much. Let’s talk about those mixed tones.Next up, Jimmy Olsen — yes, Superman’s pal — is getting his own spinoff series. At first, I wasn’t sold… but hearing it could expand the DC universe and spotlight villains? That changed my mind. And finally, there’s trouble brewing at Funko. Episode 60: Pre-Judging Predator Badlands | GEN V Season 2 Talk
Everyone’s already picking sides on Predator: Badlands — some calling it great, others trashing it before it’s even out. A lot of that hate seems to come from the idea of the Predator being the good guy this time. In this episode, I talk about that rush to judgment, how negativity drives so many opinions online, and why I’m holding off until I actually see it.I also share some thoughts on Gen V Season 2 — why it didn’t land the way I hoped, how the Gen Z focus threw me off, and why that same old “lone hero pushes everyone away” trope needs to retire already. If you enjoy the chat, don’t forget to Like, Subscribe, Share, and Download — and reach out anytime at [email protected] You, BE SUPER!!! 💥

On this episode of Outside the Comics: Vol 3, we’re talking about Zack Snyder dropping that hint that Henry Cavill is still Superman… and honestly? Let people believe what they want. Everyone’s got their version of the story, and that’s okay. Then we’ll jump into some of the hottest new comics dropping this week — what’s worth grabbing, what surprised me, and what’s already on my pull list. And to finish it off, my first reaction to the Wonder Man trailer — what my personal prediction for what the show may be about.Real talk, no drama — just pure comic talk, fandom fun, and keeping it chill.

Episode 55: James Gunn’s DCU: Is It Already Falling Apart?
Everybody’s got an opinion about James Gunn’s DC Universe — and most of them ain’t shy about it. From “his movies all look the same” to “he’s just making Guardians of the Galaxy again, but with DC characters,” critics like Critical Drinker, Nerdrotic, and the rest have been lighting him up online. But hold on — is it really that bad, or are people just stuck in the Snyderverse? In this episode, we’re breaking down the 10 biggest complaints people have thrown at Gunn’s new DC era — from Superman, Peacemaker Season 2, to Creature Commandos — and we’re going point-for-point on why these criticisms don’t hold up.We’ll talk about the “James Gunn formula,” the so-called “goofy tone,” the claims of “too much humor”, and whether his DCU actually has heart or not.If you’ve ever rolled your eyes at someone saying “he’s ruining DC” — this is the episode for you. It’s all about keeping it real, looking at the facts, and giving credit where it’s due. Episode 53: My Thoughts on Peacemaker Season 2
Here it is, the finale of Peacemaker Season 2, and I will say, it wasn't as grand as I thought it would be. Mostly because of the quick pacing, and the lack of the emotional depth of Chris Smith being in his "perfect world". But also, we as an audience have higher expectations only because we can predict on what may happen next in the grand world of the DCU. Yet we cannot forget, the core of the story here is about Peacemaker, his road to redemption, and his desire for being a part of a family. Let me know what your thoughts are in the comments below! It is the second to last episode of Peacemaker Season 2, and after watching it, I can't help but feel really bad for Chris Smith. After losing his family again for the second time in this Nazi-world and believing that everything he touches dies, he now becomes a broken man. With the finale being a week away, what do you think will happen? Is someone or something coming through those dimensional doors? Will Keith get his revenge against Chris? In this episode, I kick things off with Superman — and the success the movie is having post-theatre, and haters are still trying to cope that it "failed". Then I jump into Marvel Zombies, where Wanda has gone full Queen of the Dead, trapping the world in her twisted reality… but does the show actually land the horror it promised? Finally, I wrap things up with Alien: Earth, and why Disney’s take completely misses what made the Alien franchise terrifying in the first place. Episode 49: Trolls vs. Women in Comics
On this episode of Outside the Comics: Vol 3, there's this one troll out there (and more) that got so upset on Sasha Bordeaux being a Cyborg, and truly believed she is THE Cyborg from the DCU. This mindset opens up the talk of how so many trolls feel about women in general, being the frontrunner or not, in the world of comics. All of it is rooted from the "M-SHE-U" of course, but if we changed our mindset and give these characters to different sets of hands, would it be better? Episode 47: DC Cancels Red Hood Series | Fiction vs Reality in Fandom
DC recently pulled the plug on the Red Hood series following backlash over writer Gretchen Felker-Martin praising Charlie Kirk’s death. In this episode, I dive deep into the controversy — not just the cancellation itself, but the bigger picture of how we as fans draw the line between fiction and reality. Why is it that we love horror, villains, and dark stories in comics and movies, yet we recoil when people cross that line into celebrating real-world tragedy? I break down the difference between enjoying fictional darkness and endorsing real harm, using this moment as a clear example. All that and more, right here.Questions, Comments, or Concerns: [email protected] Ones Podcast - Rest In Peace Charlie Kirk: https://open.spotify.com/episode/6CAoTAoDimniVr08Wy5u72?si=2786f859d73f4c40Be You, BE SUPER!!!

Episode 46: Beast Boy, Business, & the Voice Actor Struggle
Greg Cipes, the voice of Beast Boy, was reportedly let go from Warner Bros. after sharing his Parkinson’s diagnosis — and as a voice actor myself, that news hit me hard. In this episode, I break down both sides of the story: the human side, where a beloved actor who’s given us over 20 years of Beast Boy deserves support, and the business side, where studios are always looking out for schedules, consistency, and profit. But at the end of the day, I can’t help but lean toward Greg and the actor’s perspective. This episode is about what it means to be replaceable in a cutthroat industry, the message this sends to performers, and why compassion should matter just as much as business. Episode 43: Doomsday Rumors... RDJ vs. Ryan Reynolds
Marvel fans are buzzing over the latest so-called “Doomsday rumor”—a supposed feud between Robert Downey Jr. and Ryan Reynolds. But let’s be real: if there was any truth to it, credible outlets would have confirmed it by now. Instead, this feels like another case of internet smoke with no fire. Sure, creative differences happen, and maybe there’s some back-and-forth about character choices, but a full-blown feud? I’m calling BS. In this episode, we break down why these rumors don’t hold up, what might actually be going on behind the scenes, and then pivot to a fun debate: who should play Batman in James Gunn’s DCU? I’ll give you my thoughts on who could step into the cowl next.As always, Like, Subscribe, Download & Share the podcast!Email for your Questions, Comments, or Concerns: [email protected] You, BE SUPER!!!
