Hurricanes Waiting For Buffalo or Montreal | Maniscalco & Adam Lee Decker Convos | ACC & Big 12 Want 24 Team CFP | 05.14

Ovies and Giglio are live on YouTube and Mike Maniscalco joins right out of the gate to tackle the most pressing question facing the Carolina Hurricanes right now — what do you do with all this extra time? While the Canes wait for Buffalo and Montreal to settle their series, all eyes shifted to Colorado where the Avalanche came back from a 3-0 deficit to win in overtime and complete one of the most remarkable series comebacks in recent NHL playoff memory. Are the Avs perfect? No. But can they score at an absolutely epic clip? Very much yes — and the Hurricanes will need to be ready for it. Keeping the Canes vibes going, Adam Lee Decker stops by the studio to share what it has been like to sing the National Anthem for the Hurricanes for nearly a decade — and it turns out he is very superstitious about his pregame routine. Then Mitch Northam of the Women's Basketball Podcast and USA Today jumps on to break down everything he saw and heard at ACC meetings in Amelia Island. OG Sports Phone calls close it out. Canes GM Tulsky on roster construction, keeping Stanley Cup window open | ACC wants 24 team CFP | Coaches hate Notre Dame | 05.13

Ovies and Giglio take a brief detour from hockey to break down what came out of ACC meetings in Amelia Island — and it's a significant development in the college football playoff conversation. The ACC has reached consensus on wanting a 24 team College Football Playoff, joining the Big 12 and Big Ten in what feels like a sudden and meaningful shift from where these conversations were not long ago. The key word driving all of it is access — coaches want the security of knowing their programs can get in and athletic departments want actual ROI on the money being poured into building these teams. That leaves the SEC standing alone. Will they fight it or eventually fall in line? Then it's back to the Carolina Hurricanes — and the guys went straight to the source. Ovies and Giglio sat down with GM Eric Tulsky at Lenovo Center for a wide ranging conversation about how this roster was built, why it works so well together, how planning ahead never truly stops even in the middle of a historic playoff run, and what really happened at the NHL trade deadline. OG Business: What's "Blue Dot Fever" & can the music industry find a cure?

OG Business is back with Ovies and Demetri Ravanos tackling some of the most fascinating questions in sports and entertainment business right now. First up — Blue Dot Fever. The term coined on social media for when concerts get canceled due to low ticket sales has become one of the more talked about phenomena in the live entertainment world. Is the demand for live music simply not what it used to be? Are concert prices so high that fans are tapping out before they ever hit buy? Or are artists and bands making the wrong calls on venue selection — overshooting their audience size and paying the price at the box office? Joe and Demetri work through all of it before getting into the latest developments at Disney, what the NFL's evolving TV rights landscape looks like going forward and the increasingly important question of whether social media clips are actually moving the needle for content creators and media companies. Carolina Hurricanes 8-0 But Can They Win 16? | Lightning Round | OG Sports Phone | 05.11

Ovies and Giglio are back from Philadelphia and the energy has shifted from celebration to processing. Saturday was about appreciating the moment and the history. Monday is about something more important. How did the Carolina Hurricanes get here and how many things have gone right to make it possible? More critically — the Canes aren't here to win 8 games. They're here to win 16 and hoist the Stanley Cup. So what needs to improve and can they keep this going? Ryan Didoshak of Hot Garbage Sports on YouTube joins the show to make the case for why the Canes are the monster under the bed this postseason and why the top line is actually producing at exactly the level needed to make everything else work for Carolina. The Lightning Round covers a lot of ground — Ovies learns the meaning behind Morgan Wallen's "98 Braves" song before the guys reflect on the passing of Atlanta's legendary manager Bobby Cox and billionaire visionary Ted Turner. ACC meetings in Amelia Island and the NBA Draft Lottery also get their moment before OG Sports Phone calls close the show. Carolina Hurricanes Make NHL History With Flyers Sweep | First 8-0 Since 1985 Edmonton Oilers

OG After Dark is live from Philadelphia — and the Carolina Hurricanes are making NHL history. The Canes pulled off the double sweep to start the Stanley Cup Playoffs 8-0 becoming the first team to do so since the 1985 Edmonton Oilers who went all the way to 9-0. Carolina got there by shaking off a first period deficit and surviving a gut punch moment in the second period when an initial lead changing goal was wiped off the board after NHL review determined there was goalie interference from William Carrier. That was followed by the Flyers tying the game 2-2 after Logan Stankoven notched his 7th goal of the playoffs. The Canes held their composure to get this thing to overtime, where Jackson Blake scored the game winner to close the serious out. OG Mailbag: Canes vs. NHL History | Enshittification of Youth Sports | NCAA Tournament Expansion

The OG Mailbag is back with a full range of questions and the guys have plenty to work through. The Carolina Hurricanes are up 3-0 on the Philadelphia Flyers and on the verge of back-to-back sweeps — and the listeners want context. How does this start stack up against NHL history and what does it actually say about Carolina's chances of making the Stanley Cup Finals? Then a genuinely important conversation about the influx of private equity money flowing into youth sports and what rising costs mean for future generations of kids who may simply price out of playing the games they love. Sticking with the future of sports, the NCAA Tournament's approved expansion to 76 teams has the mailbag full of college basketball questions about what a bigger field actually means for March Madness going forward. Then things get a little looser — beer conversations, watch stories and a curious case of adults being way too into Pokemon round it all out... Carolina Hurricanes Up 3-0 Over Flyers | Power Play & Penalty Kill Dominate | Stanley Cup Playoffs

OG After Dark is live on YouTube following a dominant Carolina Hurricanes performance that puts the Canes up 3-0 on the Philadelphia Flyers and one win away from back-to-back sweeps. Tonight's game was decided by special teams. The penalty kill remained fantastic as always — including a short handed goal by Jalen Chatfield fed by Jordan Staal that completely swung the momentum — but the power play was the real difference with Staal and Andrei Svechnikov both notching man advantage goals. Nikolaj Ehlers then provided the ultimate dagger to cap off a big night for Carolina's marquee names. What made it even more impressive? Stankoven, Taylor Hall and Jackson Blake were all relatively quiet. The scoring depth on this team finally flexed in these playoffs. Can Carolina close it out Saturday? We'll find out Saturday. Until then the OG Sports Phone is open and the hockey takes are flowing. Will Wade's Reality Distortion Field | Civian on Canes & Stanley Cup Playoffs | Why B1G Hates Duke's Amazon Deal | 05.06

Ovies and Giglio open the show with the latest example of Will Wade operating his reality distortion field. How does anyone believe anything this guy says anymore? The guys aren't here to pile on — they're genuinely asking how Wade keeps getting the benefit of the doubt in college basketball. Then it's to the Big Ten, which is not happy about Duke's unprecedented Amazon broadcast deal. The conference is framing it as a television contract dispute — but the real fear runs much deeper. Name brand schools carving out their own broadcast deals have the potential to blow up the entire concept of traditional conferences as we know them — and the Big Ten knows it. Old friend Sara Civian then joins the show to discuss the Carolina Hurricanes and the bigger picture of what's left in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Down 2 Goals In 39 Seconds, But Hurricanes Win in OT | How Carolina Handled Flyers Pressure

OG After Dark is live on YouTube following another character defining win of the Carolina Hurricanes playoff run. The Philadelphia Flyers scored two goals in 39 seconds early in the game and put the Canes in a hole they hadn't been in all postseason. The "never trailed in the playoffs" streak was over — and for the first time since their double overtime win over Ottawa in the first round, this Carolina team was facing genuine pressure. The response? Seth Jarvis finally getting on the board to tie it 2-2, then grinding into overtime where Taylor Hall won it with 1:06 remaining in the extra period. The Canes now take a 2-0 series lead heading into Philadelphia. Experience Gives Hurricanes Biggest Advantage | Philly Giglio vs. Raleigh Giglio | McNeil Back To Pack | Roy Cooper Convo | 05.04

The Stanley Cup Playoffs picture is coming into sharp focus — and the Carolina Hurricanes are emerging as the team in the Eastern Conference with the most playoff experience in the field. Ovies and Giglio break down whether that experience advantage is enough to carry the Canes to the Stanley Cup Finals or whether the tippy top talent on the Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres represents a genuine problem for Carolina down the road. Then it's to NC State, where Paul McNeil Jr. is coming back to the Wolfpack — a loyalty that deserves its own award given he's now had three coaches in three seasons. What changed? It's entirely likely that Will Wade's track record of not delivering on promises played a significant role in McNeil's decision to stay home. Back to hockey with a very special crossover — WIP radio host Joe Giglio joins the show for a Philly Giglio vs. Raleigh Giglio debate that you won't want to miss. Stankoven's Hot Streak Continues As Hurricanes Stifle The Flyers in Game 1 | OG After Dark

OG After Dark is live on YouTube — straight from a former co-worker's wedding reception in Garner, beers in hand. The Carolina Hurricanes took Game 1 against the Philadelphia Flyers and Ovies and Giglio aren't letting a wedding stop them from breaking it all down. Logan Stankoven and his linemates continued their postseason hot streak — the group has been one of the most dangerous lines in the entire Stanley Cup Playoffs and Game 1 against Philly was no different. Stifling puck possession was once again the defining theme for the Canes, limiting Philadelphia's opportunities throughout the night and controlling the game from start to finish. OG Mailbag: Canes Won Mikko Trade War? | NCAA's Own Mess | Duke Playing Chess? | Beer Snobs

The OG Mailbag is back and the listeners delivered another wide ranging week of questions. Did the Carolina Hurricanes ultimately win the Mikko Rantanen trade war now that Dallas has made an early exit from the Stanley Cup Playoffs? The guys weigh in on what that departure means for the Canes moving forward. Then a very important logistical question — how exactly are Ovies and Giglio going to handle Game 1 of Round 2 given they'll be coming off their own podcast birthday party and a wedding? Priorities. Duke continues to play chess while everyone else plays checkers — the Blue Devils keep making moves that separate them from the rest of college basketball and the mailbag has thoughts. Hurricanes vs Flyers Awaiting Schedule | Duke's Amazon Deal | Big 12's Private Equity Gamble | 04.30

The Carolina Hurricanes know their second round opponent — the Philadelphia Flyers — but the schedule is still up in the air. Mike Maniscalco hangs out in studio to break down everything Canes related, from the latest injury updates to what the matchup against Philadelphia actually looks like when it tips off. OG Sports Phone calls are in the mix too. Then Chris Powers from Trophy Brewing and Jake Wood of Lawrence BBQ come through the studio to talk about Gettin' Piggy With It — a great event taking place May 17th to raise money for the Frankie Lemmon School and one worth putting on your calendar. On the college basketball front, Duke has been running silent since their Elite 8 collapse — but the Blue Devils are making noise again. Jon Scheyer continues to run hot on the recruiting trail and the program just agreed to an unprecedented broadcast deal with Amazon that raises a very real question — is this the future of sports on television? Throw in the Big 12's new private equity deal, fans need to get ready for another new era of college sports. NCAA Tournament Expanding To 76 Teams | NC State & ECU Baseball | Brind'Amour Wants MORE Replay | Portal Updates | 04.29

The NCAA is moving toward expanding the men's and women's basketball tournaments to 76 teams as soon as next season — and Ovies and Giglio are not on the same page about it. Giglio is firmly in the "more is more" camp and welcomes an expanded field that keeps pace with the growing number of Division I basketball programs. His issue isn't with the expansion itself — it's with how the NCAA is planning to implement it, and he has a better way to do it. Ovies meanwhile is less focused on the bracket and more focused on the bigger picture — the writing is already on the wall for the future of college sports, and it ends with the SEC and Big Ten getting exactly what they want every single time. Then it's to baseball, where NC State dominated ECU for the second time this season. But the segment goes deeper than the box score — it's really a conversation about where both programs stand in this new era of college sports. The Lightning Round covers Rod Brind'Amour sounding off on replay review, the latest hoops portal updates and more.
