Episode 17 :March Forward Into The Horizon
Episode 17 is a recorded walk journal where I figure out in real time how to get a better outdoor recording with my new mic Rhode Wireless Me. I realized two major things I learned. Project my voice and walk on smoother surfaces. Once my breath and my footsteps found a harmony with my Outdoor Canvas the poetry flowed organically. This was the first Monday of Spring Forward and there was a cool crisp smell in the air as I moved intentionally in the spirit of progression.Walter P.o.p. Matthews IV

Episode 15: Bedroom Canvas Mic Check
I decided to do a podcast doing a mic check on my Rode Wireless ME while I was in bed, under the covers looking at a projected full moon while the real full was outside but it was too cold to go out there. I was pleased with the quality of the sound and I liked my spontaneous streams of thought. Leave a comment and tell me what you think.

The Sonic Painting: Episode 13
What is a Sonic Painting?A Sonic Painting is when I realized that my voice is an instrument. An instrument like a guitar, a saxophone. Or even a paintbrush. The Sonic painting is my podcast. My podcast is the sound of a writer.I used to rap, recite spoken word and even sing and play guitar. Now I'm in the season of mindful monologues with music. This is an organic progression of where life and art has taken my pen and my voice. I hope you all enjoy it , leave a comment and I hope that this episode brings you inspiration and a good vibration.Walter P.o.p. Matthews IV

Episode 12: Moonlight Mastermind August
This episode is the beginning of my Moonlight Mastermind series. I've done other recordings but they're unreleased. The week or a full moon is a frequency that I can't even explain but there's something about going on to my outside in the middle of the night and my rooftop is saturated in the lunar glow. Instead of high noon it's my midnight high. It's become my monthly flow state because every time I press record on a full moon night the episode writes it myself. I had the theme in my head many months before I recorded any episode in this series. Moonlight at Midnight is featured at the end of Ep. 12 and is featured at the beginning and end of Ep. 11. Let me know what you thought in the comments.

Episode 11: Moonlight Mastermind / The Rooftop Walkpad Mic Check
What's good, everyone? This is P.o.p. Presents. And I'm P.O.P. Also known as Walter IV. And this is a special episode. Am recording live. On a full moon night on my rooftop. And this is the first time that I'm recording. On my lavalier mic. That I have attached to my shirt. And while I'm recording. Looking at that beautiful full moon? I'm on my. I'm walking on my Walkpad. And if you don't know what a Wattpad is? That's a treadmill without the bars. So? I'm doing a test. I'm doing a mic check. And a podcast at the same time. Isn't that some great multitasking? I'm not even going to tell you how long I had this mic, but it takes me forever to do things, but. Guess what? We're here.Walter P.o.p. Matthews IV

Ep: 10 The Path of The Sonic Writer
This episode I share with my listeners my first recorded walk journal in August 2025. This has been an idea I've had since I've been writing my monthly walk journals. When I write my audio diaries of my morning movement I have to retain all of the ideas and thoughts until I get home. Sometimes I get distracted and lose all of my ideas when I get home. I wrote many and I also lost many. The Path of the Sonic Writer solves that problem of losing my ideas. I bought a lavilier mic and this podcast episode was just supposed to be an outdoor mic test. That's it. A soundcheck in motion. It actually was going to be a throwaway because because of bad mic placement I had pops and crackles in the recording. Recently realized a program that I already have restores audio and takes out any unwanted sound. So I'm back in business. This recording was one take in the length of one mile into my walk. The rest is history. I get to share with you the first one of a long future series. I would love to read what you think in the comments.Walter P.o.p. Matthews IV

My Birthday Journal 2025
This episode chronicles three days of my life that was just supposed to be recorded on my birthday but I started a day early on my birthday eve 6-20-25. Then proceeded with an audio journal on birthday 6-21-25 and then created one more the day after on 6-22- 25. Every night I went out into the dark stillness of my rooftop under a crescent moon and recorded an introspective and reflective monologue. I captured what I was feeling right there in that moment. The theme was gratitude, being thankful, mindfulness, feeling renewed, being present and showing up for yourself. It's never too late to start again and a special message to all of my creatives to never forget your dreams.Walter P.o.p. Matthews IV

Episode 9: Rhythm of the Rain
Rhythm of the Rain is a Spoken Word song that was written and recorded in 2006 and was a poem that birthed my love and connection to the rain. I tell three stories about teenage love, heartbreak, and an intimate music listening date that all had nature's poetic precipitation as the backdrop. The rain turned my saddest and most lonely moments into introspection, reflection and euphoria. My narration of the three stories was an impromptu and spontaneous recording while I was driving home in the morning rain in early April 2025. It was one take and no edits. Right after narrate my backstory I introduce the poetry that has motion with nature'watery snare. The clouds held my sonic tears so I could share my joy and pain. An urban dystopia is my utopia as I walk to the rhythm of the rain. Walter P.o.p. Matthews IV

Sublime: A Halftime Redefined
This is a short bonus episode about my thoughts on Kendrick Lamar's Superbowl Halftime show. It's an event that will be talked about in music history for many years. It was one of those where were you moments. In my life it was when I saw Micheal perform Billie Jean at Motown 25, The first time I heard Nirvana and now Kendrick Lamar performing at the 2025 Superbowl Halftime show. It was masterful art. A sonic painting in motion right before our eyes. As a producer and fan of music I felt pure joy that mindful music had the biggest stage of the year. Walter P.o.p. Matthews IV

The November Wind That I'm Standing In: EP 7
I recorded this November 1, 2024 and it was nice to do a journal/ rooftop recording. I allowed my spontaneous thoughts to be as free flowing as the wind that was tossing around the leaves and swaying the trees. It was just a quick catch up with to see where I'm at in this moment of time. I hope you enjoy. Walter P.o.p. Matthews IV

The Cosmos and The Canvas: Episode 6
In episode 6, I return in real-time on 10-25-24. It was a clear, crisp Autumn night, and when I go out on my rooftop in the middle of the night, it's always the recipe for inspiration. The big dipper, the crescent moon, and the constellations were my audiences for my 21-minute monologue. My most extended recorded one take to date. I felt fully immersed in this ocean of planets, solar system, and galaxies, all contrasted by the blackest void of space. While recording, I saw two meteorites (Falling stars), which enhanced my experience. I named it The Cosmos and The Canvas because I felt like my words were painted, and my imagination was the empty canvas and was as vast as the universe I was staring into. I plan to continue these rooftop recordings and release the others I've already recorded.

A Voice Evolved ( No Music)
A poem about overcoming my self consciousness about my speaking voice. This is the poem without music A Voice Evolved A voice of self-consciousness A voice of doubt A child trapped in a dark room Wanting to go forth In the remote wilderness but No one can hear my scream They don’t hear the real me I often wasn’t seen They see what they want to see They listen to what they want to hear I begin to hear their distorted audio Of my vocals So begins the fear People thought silenced me I became stagnant and stuck Until one day, I stopped giving a… You know what Exactly. You filled it in right. The voice of many waters Broke through My self-critical dam Flooding I spoke life into who I am A voice that is born A voice that’s me A voice that has now evolved P.O.P. is free.

The Evolved Voice
I randomly recorded a mindful message and I stopped for a moment to realize how far I've come in being confident with my speaking voice. It's been a journey and I'm proud of myself. I captured the thought and I added a poem of my journey. Walter P.o.p. Matthews IV

Episode 5: The Ethically Immoral Interview
In episode five, I go back four years to December 2020, when I reunited with a long-time friend and collaborator, Mike Payne, host of The Ethically Immoral Podcast. This is part 3 of 4 of the P.O.P. PRESENTS interview series. We met right at the birth of social media as we know it. Yes, it was the dawn of it because Facebook was born in 2004, and we met on a website called Hi 5 in 2005. This website housed a chat forum called AAP ( African American Poetry), which developed my poetry skills. Then, in 2006, Mike recognized my growing popularity as a poet and suggested I create my writing forum. I knew I didn't have the discipline to keep up and maintain a writing forum, but I saw the administrative gifts in him, so we put our brains together and created The Mecca Lounge writing community. I inspired the conception, but Mike's diligence and hard work executed, built, and maintained a fantastic platform that gave us a home to write, read, support, and hone our skills. The community of writers thrived. Our platform was the Medium of 2006, founded in 2012, and I joined as a reader and writer in 2020. Mike Payne was also a trailblazer in the podcast movement with a show on blog talk radio in 2007 in which he had me on as a producer. In this, we cover the span of my artistry from 2004 to the present. We had known each other for 15 years at the time of this interview, so Mike saw my creative pivots, changes, and evolution as a writer, rapper, music producer, and photographer. We cover many topics in 90 minutes, the closest thing I have to an audiobook memoir. So take a 3-mile walk or a long scenic drive and dive into Episode 5: The Ethically Immoral Inner View, hosted by Mike Payne and featuring. Walter P.o.p. Matthews IV

Episode 4: Reintroducing Walter P.o.p. Matthews IV
Episode 4 occurred in the summer of 2020 when I appeared on my first Instagram live interview with Ashley Collins. I've been hiding behind my written work and music production for so long, and this was the first time social media had heard and seen me. My speaking has improved in the last four years since this aired. I feel confident. My prologue/intro was recorded in 2024. I wanted to publish as a thank you for Ashley being such a pivotal and supportive person in my life. I wouldn't be here without this interview.

Episode 3-Heal with Shay Feat P.O.P. -Sleep 4 Creative People
This was one of four interviews I did from 2020 to 2021. I began coming out of the shadows and exiting my comfortable shell. I inspired the podcast Heal with Shay, and I didn't even realize it would be the seed that would lead me to the P.O.P. PRESENTS podcast. Shay and I would have creative brainstorming sessions where we shared many ideas, and they would bear much good fruit. I produced a new 2024 intro with original music to give you all the backstory behind this interview. Let me know what you think in the comment section. Walter P.o.p. Matthews IV

Episode 2: A Voice is Born
This episode explores when I leaped into the audio/video world to record my first vocal /video experience. On December 18, 2021, after a cold morning walk, I decided to emerge from the shadows of a written writer/producer and reveal myself to the world. I had been self-conscious of my voice for most of my life, but after I recorded this never-released 19-minute monologue, there was no turning back. Self-doubt had died so my confidence could live. A Voice was born.

Episode 1 : Press Record and See What Happens
This is the first episode of my first podcast, and I wanted the recording of the concept to be organic and spontaneous. I did most of the recording in one take. Sometimes, overthinking will keep you stagnant. There's a time to be still, and there's a time to move. I leaped!
