E-88: And Then There Were None
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie is a locked room murder mystery with a mix of strangers having diverse intellect and emotional balance to keep them intact as a team until the last soldier dies. The book starts with an epigraph that gives all the hints for readers to find the reasons behind the murders that take place in the book. The story is set on a deserted island called "Soldier Island" where ten strangers from diverse backgrounds, including a lawyer, an ex police officer, and a doctor, are lured to join a party with different reasons to spend leisure time for free in a vast property on this secluded island. Each individual received a letter as an invitation from Ownes, but as they arrived, they found the hosts were missing. It looked a little queer to them initially; later, they understood something was wrong with the place and setting when a gramophone played accusations against each one of them, taking them back to the nostalgic road of the incidents mentioned in that gramophone. They were not ready to take it up, some even did not agree with what was said about them. Will the strangers get along to solve the mystery, or will they be doomed on the secluded island?

E-83: The Namesake
What are books meant for? To travel without moving an inch. Do you agree? Her debut, internationally-bestselling collection, Interpreter of Maladies, won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction, the PEN/Hemingway Award, The New Yorker Debut of the Year award, an American Academy of Arts and Letters Addison Metcalf Award, and a nomination for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. E-81 : The Scratch and Sniff Chronicles
From laughter to suspense, and from culture to crime, today’s book has it all, with a protagonist whose nose is sharper than any detective’s mind.It is an intriguing story where the protagonist's sense of smell plays a crucial role in unfolding the mystery as if smell in itself is a character. The Scratch and Sniff Chronicles by Hemangini Dutt Majumder is a humorous delight, mystery novel that blends Bengali tradition with a touch of Gothic literature. The story starts with the introduction of the protagonist, Ollie, where the author reveals how she got her name, Olympia Ghoshal Chatterjee. To begin with the life of Ollie, there is chaos, drama, an eerie atmosphere, ghostly appearances (not in real though), and the essence of the smelling sense that made her unique. Often, she landed in trouble because of her strong sense of smell, but in the end, it helped solve a series of murder mysteries by catching the culprit who was creating terror and fear in their ancestral mansion, Neelbari, in Chandannagar, and it even prevented two murders.

E-79: A House Without Windows
A House Without Windows by Nadia Hashimi is a heart-wrenching and compelling thriller novel that transports readers to the lifestyle of Afghanistan, exploring themes such as justice, resilience, womanhood, and turmoil.ReviewThe story follows the life of Zeba, a wife and mother of four children, who ended up in Chil Mahtab, a jail for women in Kabul, when she was found with blood on her hands and her husband lay with a hatchet stuck in his skull. Accused of a crime which she might or might not have committed, without throwing any tantrums, she followed the police. She waited for her trial in jail amongst other women who were spending their time in Chil Mahtab for petty crimes like running away with a lover, carrying a baby out of wedlock, and so on. Such was the life of women in patriarchal Afghanistan. The storytelling takes readers on the journey of Zeba's life, focusing on the judicial system, societal norms in Afghanistan, and the lives of women in a male-dominated society. In this book, the author meticulously and straightforwardly demonstrates the multiple perspectives about Zeba's life (from past and present, her family dynamics), her lawyer's condition in judicial trials because of his origin, and other women she met in jail, allowing readers to feel empathy for the injustice they all faced. It might appear as a whodunit, but there's more to grasp and feel while reading through the book.

E-54 : Reading Challenges and Communities You Can’t Miss
“Reading is a transformational journey from being on your own to being by your side.”In today’s episode, I have come up with something different, something that will answer the question that most people ask me: how to manage reading diverse literature across the year.I often felt that I was not reading enough good books, and would feel guilty about reading whatever came before me because I was habitual of reading certain kinds of books, genres, or authors. But soon I realized, that reading is a vast space and I can explore beyond my vision because we never know what becomes our comfort genre in the long run. For a long time, I kept myself away from fiction books and read only non-fiction books almost missing out on the different worlds and people I would love away from reality. So, here I got you covered. Today I am going to share about two Reading Challenges I am participating in this year to make sure I read diverse literature, and not miss out on gems in the book world.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/prickedinsightConnect for Romance Reading Project:Aastha: https://www.instagram.com/aastha__anandSiddhi: https://www.instagram.com/book_gobblerConnect for ReadingWithMuffy: https://www.instagram.com/kohleyedreads
