It’s fragile and lovely to look at because it decorates the outside beautifully and that way it is able to decorate your own heart for the start right into your day...

Welcome back. Today’s episode is about a playing card, you know. But on the other hand »Queen of Hearts« is also the title of a poem by an old friend of mine that took me by all means, it struck me! So that I had to sit down and write a song about it. That was many a year ago, Lord. It turned out to be no simple song but one that characterised the new Band in 1999 and in years to follow until we split apart. This song was the red line in every program we played live and has still remained a special song to me - until today. There are so many things we dream about - and in dreams we all are free.  We are as free as we can be and we have wings to fly wherever we want to go to in an instant. Nobody is able to steal your dreams away and theres is no one who has the right to do so. This song is dealing with the mellow space of dreams, reflected by the harsh winds of reality. Can these two ways pair or go along as one - right next to each other and without being irritated by each other? Can you tell?

I've always tried to combine the classical orchestra with the songwriting I am looking for to a really high degree.  But I've always wanted an orchestra that has things to say, not just to accompany, you know. You can do wonderful things while orchestrating the music and end up in a dialog with the songwriter an its song. That is what I am looking for and this is what I intended while recording this very song from my current album. What does the world look like when you look at it through the eyes of a 16 year old? On the one hand, the world, at this stage of your life, is so big and it is much too big to grab it with your young hand. You really can’t understand what’s going on out there. But you try to - you really do. Markus Zosel reflects on writing his song in 2020 and where it might take you when looking at it more closely.

In Fall 2019 I watched the news and I saw thousands of young people, mostly students of the local university, marching through the old streets of Hongkong. They were on their march for freedom of speech and a formal freedom that was guaranteed to them since the colonial days of British Hongkong. Now, I saw protest and a police that kept fighting these young kids in a way that was really hard to look at. So it began. www.markus-zosel.com
