This week, Andy West is back to talk with Bekah about his spiritual journey and call to ministry. Andy shares about his experiences with disability and ministry, his journey towards Anglicanism, and the role that listening and cultivating his spiritual life have played in his ministry.

In this episode, Justin and Bekah begin unpacking the concept of ageism, discussing its similarities to ableism, and how it harms older people. They speculate on the role that fear of death plays in ageism, and how to work through that fear in order to treat others well.

The Institute on Theology and Disability (ITD) is a yearly conference bringing together academics, religious professionals, and lay people who are interested in the intersections of disability, ministry, and theology. Justin and Bekah have attended several Institutes over the years, and found them useful and enriching, but also deeply challenging. In this episode, Bekah shares her experiences from the 2024 ITD, which she found to be a true joy, and improved in many ways. She and Justin discuss the need to center disabled voices in disability theology spaces, and consider the present and future of ITD.
