ALPA Committees and Volunteering
For the first time since our very first episode last summer, we are joined by Piedmont MEC Chair, Captain Kim Gott. She’s with us to highlight the roles of the various committees within our union operations and explain the best ways for our pilots to become involved with specific committees. Holiday Party Information RSVP Here Additional Details As we move into the holiday season, we are reminded that flights are full, and commutes are tough. Please remember to “do the walk” for jumpseaters. Please do everything you can to ensure that jumpseating and commuting coworkers receive the courtesy of your best efforts to accommodate them. For our commuting pilots, please take a moment to review the Piedmont Commuting Policy outlined in our CBA. If you have any questions, please reach out to your status rep… We hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving, whether that is at work or at home. Thank you, as always for listening. How to Handle Fatigue
Welcome to the first episode of 2025! This month, we are joined by Captain Jerry Schiffauer, who is the chair of our Fatigue Committee. Our schedules are always demanding, no matter the time of year, but winter storms and weather delays, along with holiday stress, and cold and flu season, mean winter is a prime time for pilots to become fatigued. Jerry is with us to discuss how and when to call out fatigued, how to file a fatigue report, and what he and the members of the Fatigue Committee have done and continue to do in order to make Piedmont Airlines safer. Also in this episode: - Remember to check your ALPA account to ensure you're receiving update emails and TextCaster text message updates! - When filling out an Incident Report, as required for specific events per the FOM, ALPA and the MEC recommend *not* using the option provided to generate an ASAP report directly from the Incident Report. It is recommended to file those reports completely separately, with different levels of detail in the information. Please contact a member of the Safety Committee with questions.

ALPA-PAC and Government Affairs
Welcome back to part 2 of our ALPA Board of Directors special edition interviews. I had the opportunity to sit down with ALPA Director of Government Affairs, Elizabeth Baker, as well as the chair of our own Government Affairs Committee, Matt Chadwick, to discuss the role of ALPA and ALPA PAC in government and what pilots need to know about how your union is working for you. This interview was recorded in October, prior to the 2024 Presidential Election. ALPA has not endorsed a presidential candidate in many years, and did not in 2024. ALPA and ALPA-PAC firmly believe in working with all elected representatives who are willing and able to help protect and advance the causes of our pilots and the aviation industry. To quote directly from ALPA-PAC's website “ALPA-PAC is the most bipartisan labor PAC in the country. The PAC counts conservative Republicans, liberal Democrats, and moderates of all stripes among its greatest allies. Party and ideology are irrelevant to an individual’s support for pilot partisan causes. We are pilot partisan.” Also in this episode: - Holiday parties are December 16 (PHL) and December 17 (CLT). Review your MEC Update email dated 11/7 for details, and contact [email protected] if you need to cancel, or would like to be added to the wait list. - Q4 CBTs are due 12/19 Please like and subscribe to our channel, and leave a 5 star review if you feel so inclined!
