The mind sure is a funny thing—one second, you can find yourself tripping over the gradually increasing existential crisis of modern-day living in 2026, and the next, you’ll find yourself thinking about dumb ways to make peeing for a dog way more fun than it should have any right to be! On this week’s episode of Press Pause Radio, we tackle some of the news bits in gaming and our current gaming shelves in another “What’s in your console” edition of the show. Andrew and George are joined by Hugo Award-winning writer and all-around gaming journalist sweetheart, Aidan Moher, who is also ½ of one of the coolest new video game podcasts to hit the web, Fun Factor: a show that takes a retrospective look at retro game magazines that inspired them to be games writers themselves! In this episode, the cast will go over the news of the leaked internal Xbox memo that would rapidly become the “We Are Xbox” state of the union from Microsoft, and the details of the new Steam controller from a leaked review of the device, including its $99 price tag! On the games side of things, we get real weird with it as we discuss OPUS: Prism Peak, Life is Strange, Division 2, Froggy Hates Snow, Returnal, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, Under the Island, Cobra, ZX Spectrum Next, Saros, Pragmata, Mouse: P.I. for Hire, Invincible VS, Quest: Brian's Journey, and so much more! We hope you enjoy our busy bodies of work as we have a whole lot more to cover with y’all in the coming weeks here at Press Pause Radio, oh, and be sure to subscribe to Fun Factor, and buy Aidan’s cool ass book, Fight, Magic, Items: The History of Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and the Rise of Japanese...Mail us at our new email [email protected], leave a voicemail at 42-GAMEZAP-4 (424-263-9274), and be sure to stop by at our Forums if you haven’t already registered and post your thoughts about the show. PAX East 2013: Press Pause Radio Podcast Special
We’re approaching the last day of PAX East and we’re surprisingly chipper for what we covered so far but it’s a momentous PAX. It’s the first PAX to see an exclusive reveal, with Capcom and WayForward debuting their remake of an NES classic, Ducktales Remastered. Bob Mackey and the gang were able to fund their Retronauts Kickstarter within hours, and when we weren’t playing a lot of games, then we were treated some of the finer citizens in Boston. Special guest Seth Macy of the internet joins us as we gab up the event and recount our plans for Sunday. If you happen to see us, then don’t be shy! Mail us at our new email [email protected], leave a voicemail at 469-PPR-TALK, and be sure to stop by at our Forums if you haven’t already registered and post your thoughts about the show. Man, a game with a floating disembodied old man head has our early vote for the next Game of The Year folks! You heard it here first! Oh and Sony did show off their latest console to help usher in the next generation for video games, the PlayStation 4. Among the talk we’ve got some emails with some late confessions, thoughts towards Aliens: Colonial Marines, and we share our condolences for our favorite game enthusiast/journalism and media website on the internet—1UP.com. Jeremy Parish and company continued the legacy after so many have left and we indulge on why 1UP was so important to all of us. Normally, we would never apologize for what we may write or say because, you know, it’s the internet, deal with it. This latest episode, however, may just be the exception, and it may just be the most personal episode we’ve ever recorded…This week, we share, our deepest, darkest, gaming confessions, and what you’re about to hear may shock and will most likely disturb you, but hey, you might get a great laugh out of it. Join us as we have a full house with George on his deathbed, Andrew getting insecure over his micro-transaction spending towards anything with the word “Avatar” next to it, Ser being that lovable jerk, and everyone forgetting about James as usual. Oh, did we forget to mention that Catie was able to podcast with us too? Finally right! Dead Space 3, Antechamber, Pokémon Black & White 2, and more on the games we touch on in this latest Press Pause Radio! Bloody mayhem you say, well; we have something we’d like to share. This week on Press Pause Radio, we return to discuss the subject of violence in video games and media in general as far as what sort of influence they may potentially have. Among all the serious talk, we also discuss Mailman ethics, Gargoyles the TV series, Dead Island controversies, Unepic, and more. So just sit back, relax, and enjoy the latest gathering of the PPR gang as we clench fists and talk some words on the effects of shooting a gun with a controller, spoiler; nothing dangerous and we’ll share why.

PPR Games Club: The Walking Dead
Well it’s the new year, you know, the big twenty-thirteen, and what better way to move on then to do a Games Club on our Golden Zonkey awarded Game of The Year title, The Walking Dead. Telltale was able to create a tale of misery and emotion in five episodes, and beyond all of the zombie madness, we learned what it truly is to protect what you love, no matter what the cost. Join us for this latest Games Club with Andrew, George, and special guest Dana, as we test our humanity (or in some cases, cast it aside) in this three hour spanning show where we cover all five episodes from start to finish. Come joins us and keep a box of Kleenex nearby so you can relive the trauma all over again with your favorite podcast, (or not, just listen to the show already!)

PPR Presents The Golden Zonkies: Class of 2012
We are nearing the end of 2012, and with the end of this giant year for video gaming, we here at Press Pause Radio have decided to shake things up a bit. In the past, we normally just choose a personal Top 10 list for the games released within the year in which we talk to a certain degree as to why they made our list; we figured that this wasn’t going to work for us this time around. Therefore, this year, we’re going all out with our own game of the year award show that we’ll be recording instead; aptly titled, The Golden Zonkies! Below is a list of the eligible titles that we have all nominated to win the particular Golden Zonkey awarded for the category displayed. We’ll be recording this weekend and updating this post with winners for the appropriate categories as we publish the podcast. Until that happens, be sure to check out what’s been nominated for the official 2012 Golden Zonkey Awards!

Many of us have been raised around video games, and the industry has grown up with us. But what happens when the future generation begins to take an interest in this hobby and culture? The group will discuss these points, and also argue the question of whether or not some of us should even have children. Have you seen Toast before? We also answer your questions, speak about the massive amount of games being played at the end of the year and potentially tease an upcoming podcast based on THE GREATEST FILM OF ALL TIME. Be sure to tune in and and hear all about it!

No worries, Press Pause Radio is here to save the day once again. This episode begins with a very real and extremely awkward discussion about European porn stars and voyeurism. So, there's that I suppose. Hopefully you will all continue to listen to the latest episode of Press Pause Radio, as we discuss the recent news and events in the world of video games. Our cast returns from the short hiatus and breaks down the upcoming Wii U, as well as the departure of our favorite Doctors from BioWare. In our featured topic we define, in our own words, the definition of a legacy in video games, both positive and negative. Thanks for checking out our newest episode and please make sure to rate and review us. Stay tuned for more greatness coming your way from PPR!

So wait, George is planning to go vegan? Moreover, Killer Instinct 2 is a completely different game from Killer Instinct Gold? We answer these questions and many more on the latest episode of Press Pause Radio. The main subject of discussion this week is Cross-play, we’ve seen this sort of thing before with the GBA/Gamecube connectivity functionality in the past, hell we’ve even seen with the Dreamcast VMU, but what about the modernized concept for the future? The Wii U is just around the corner and the Vita is supporting Cross-play functionality with the PS3, there’s plenty to speculate towards the potential this gimmick may actually offer. PPR at PAX Prime 2012: The Climax
T’was a Saturday night all through out Seattle while PPR was afoot, and there was a ton of peeps and noise to boot! We’ve recorded our experiences so far from PAX 2012 and we’re still so woefully behind checking out all of the games on the floor! We talk a bit about some of the triple A titles we’re given access to like The Last of Us and God of War: Acsension while talking about all of the indie titles we got hands-on with at the Indie Mega Booth! We finally nail the right sound setup for our make-shift recording session, but we all sound like dog shit in this episode due to our exaustion. If you’ve listened to any of our other Trade show podcasts then then you’ll already be privy to the right kind of expectations to keep in mind. I thought I was the Bally table king, but I just handed my pinball crown to him. There is such a rich history involved with the pinball industry and the community of players, that current gamers definitely owe a debt of gratitude to pinball. From humbled beginnings, illegal operations and persecution to the rise and the fall of the pinball machine there have been many stories and tales associated with various flippers and metallic balls. The PPR family will discuss this as well as the small factions of players that continue to keep pinball enthusiasm alive and well. We also discuss Select Feedback from the listeners and dwell over recent news and events. Thanks for taking the time to allow us into your eardrums, and please remember to rate and review us on iTunes, Zune and Stitcher Radio so we can continue to reach more and more listeners. Welcome to the inaugural episode of the official Vintage Play podcast! "The Shmup Duke" Serraxor and Sean from Press Pause Radio have dedicated themselves to becoming time travelers and searching for the best and the worst in retro gaming. This has lead to the creation of a video show and supplemental podcast entitled Vintage Play. On this landmark episode, the two discuss how horrible Shadowgate would be on the Philips CD-i, the awesomeness that is U.N. Squadron and the potential that the recently announced OUYA will bring to the game business. For as long as the video game industry has exisited, there has always been a stigma around licensed games. History has proven almost every single time that a title based off of another franchise or form of media has never been done well or at least was not enjoyed by the community as a whole. However, in some rare instances this generation and in the past there have been several releases that broke the mold, paving a way for licensed games of the future to truly shine. Is this a new renaissance in gaming, or is history doomed to repeat itself? The original round table of Press Pause Radio will discuss this and much more on Episode 60! TACO BOAT! Has E3 lost it's staying power, or was the lineup of titles and new innovations enough to win us over? We will discuss this and so much more on this episode of Press Pause Radio. PPR at PAX East 2012 Special
It has been a few days since Team PPR has returned from PAX East 2012 and we have compiled several recordings we made throughout the weekend for you to enjoy. In the first half of the show, we were able to trick Shawn Andrich and Cory Banks from Gamers With Jobs to record with George and Catie, as well as our good friend Derek Lavigne. In that first segment the group discussed sleeping in train stations, how PPR killed The Couchbound Network (probably) and all the games that we saw and played at PAX East. The second segment is the entire team that attended the convention, conversing over the content that was posted on the site over the three-day event, as well as some of the controversy surrounding the Mass Effect 3 panel and other happenings on the show floor. It was our absolute pleasure to cover PAX East 2012, and we are grateful to everyone who followed the site and to those who we had the pleasure to meet in person. Thank you for a great show, and we cannot wait to do it again at the next PAX!

Press Pause Radio has survived another holiday filled with crazy mobs of shoppers and an insane amount of game releases to give you an early gift, that we like to call Episode 51. The crew welcomes back Matt Jay from Snackbar Games as they attempt to go through another long list of What's In Your Console, including The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Assassin's Creed: Revelations and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim just to name a few. The group then discuss the advent, rise and potentially harmful future of downloadable content. Does DLC extend the experience of games that we have already conquered? Or is DLC just a way for developers to make more money and fix problems that should have been taken care of before the game has shipped? We will tackles these questions and more, just like shoppers tackle each other at Wal-Mart. Please rate and review us on iTunes or Zune, and give us an early Christmas present.

We've done it. We somehow survived and reached episode 50 of Press Pause Radio. And to celebrate we are returning with a three hour long show, as well as our first show with Couchbound Network. Ser, Sean, GeorgieBoysAXE and Toast will converse about titles such as Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Uncharted 3. The crew then debate on what makes a "Triple A" title, and if there have been too many blockbuster titles this year. Reaching fifty episodes is a great milestone for the website, and we are so happy to have shared it with you all. Rate and review us on iTunes and Zune so we can record fifty more.

Please continue to rate and review us on iTunes and Zune so we can be downloaded faster than a speeding bullet. Thanks and enjoy!

PPR Games Club: Ico/Shadow of the Colossus Collection Side A
So hopefully everyone knows how our Games Club works by now. We play through a game, and discuss it on the show along with your comments. However, this time we are switching things up by playing not one but two games. The recently released Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection on PS3 gives us the perfect opportunity to discuss some of the finest games ever released on the PlayStation 2, now remastered in HD for the PlayStation 3. So whether you are playing the original or the re-released version, we will discuss both in great detail. This week's show is Side A, where we discuss Ico. Please remember that this is a Games Club, and the entire game will be discussed. So play along and enjoy the show, and continue to play Shadow of the Colossus, which will be recorded soon for next week's show.

Press Pause Radio escapes the limbo of corrupted audio files and damaged computers to deliver the newest episode of PPR! Along for the ride is our newest member to the team Dan, the man with possibly five or more nicknames. One of our good friends Matt, Patriot1030 from the WOFR Gaming Network also is able to join us at the last minute to complete the roundtable discussion. On this week's episode we discuss news and information from the Tokyo Game Show, including the Vita and Final Fantasy remakes. Our Featured Topic is a lively discussion about game pricing and the used video game market. This often heated debate gets turned up a few degrees as we explore all areas of the topic. Thank you to everyone for listening to the show, and for helping us reach over 200 fans on Facebook! We couldn't have done it without you!

Disclaimer: No Juggalos were harmed in the recording of this podcast. This episode of Press Pause Radio is brought to you by the one and only SeanDood, as well as his mustache. On this week's episode, we will discuss level design in video games. For decades, video games have evolved and we have seen numerous technological breakthroughs. However the core element of level design has remained the same, and is the cornerstone of all video games. The crew will discuss this as well as news from Penny Arcade Expo and the Call of Duty XP Convention. Select Feedback is packed with excellent letters, and comments from our listeners, and we answer our first (hopefully last) relationship letter. The group will also review the massive list of new video game releases as they discuss Gears of War 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. We hope that you enjoy this week's episode, and we hope you have the chance to rate and review us on iTunes and Zune so we can reach more and more listeners. Don't forget that we are also on the go, with both the Android and iPhone apps that are available right now!

Press Pause Radio does not condone or recommend that any of our listeners let a PPR cast member babysit your kids. Episode 46 not only proves this, but also alienates fans of any age. This week will will touch on recent news from Gamescom as well as welcome a few friends to the show. We welcome the former host of Pixel Dreams, Drew, to the show, a long time friend and supporter of the show. Another great supporter of the show, Dan also joins us and brings some sanity to the recording. The topic this week is about death in video games. Whether it is an element of the story or a game mechanic, we will discuss it all in this episode. We also will spoil a few games here and there, as well as get a little fired up. Drinking and podcasting do not mix. Enjoy the show, and please make sure to rate and review us on iTunes and Zune. Yes, we do have listeners on Zune. Two of them.

PPR Two Year Anniversary Special
This is the moment you've all been waiting for: The Press Pause Radio Two-Year Anniversary Extrazaganza™! (Not really trademarked, sorry). For this episode, we pull out all the stops for you, our faithful listeners. We have a full room of PPR contributors, along with Ignition Entertainment's Shane Bettenhausen to discuss the importance and evolution of video game podcasts. Having Shane on the show was a great experience for all of us, since he pioneered the video game podcast during his time with 1UP, and we greatly appreciate him taking time out of his busy El Shaddai schedule to be on the show. Stay tuned after our normal show for a retrospective on all of our best moments during our two years in existence. Listeners past and present will really enjoy this trip down memory lane, full of singing, cursing, and Hadoukens! Thanks for two great years, and we hope for many more in the future. The amazing artwork for this episode is courtesy of Wil Brendel, who is an amazing artist you should be checking out. Enjoy!
