Rob Reacts to Paradise Season 2 Ep 7
Rob Reacts to Paradise Season 2 Ep 7 Paradise Season 2, Episode 7 gets a fresh look as Rob Cesternino and Chappell dig into all the twists in this penultimate installment. The episode centers on the reveal of Link’s true identity and its eerie connection to Sinatra’s past, while the Paradise community braces for a tense finale. With nuclear reactors at risk and the threat of an incoming crowd, the survivors face choices that test their loyalties and raise big questions about the fate of their society. Rob and Chappell break down the key developments in Paradise, including Sinatra’s surprising discovery about Link’s real name, Dylan, just as her own emotional story deepens. The podcast explores how the show shifts from moving chess pieces to focusing on the main game, especially as time travel elements become harder to ignore. Nuclear meltdown risks, mysterious nosebleeds tied to timeline convergence, and the chaos below Paradise set the stage for what’s coming. The hosts weigh whether the Alex system is a time machine or something with even bigger implications, and debate how this tech might impact Dylan’s future—or potentially reset the entire game. Highlights from the discussion: Link’s reveal as Dylan and its dramatic impact on Sinatra’s motivations and the unfolding story. Debate over whether Alex is a time machine, sentient AI, or a device capable of rewriting past disasters. Speculation on how the nuclear reactor crisis could be used to activate Alex, referencing parallels to Lost. Reactions to Jane’s abrupt exit, contrasting expectations after her flashback, and questioning the survival of other characters like Gary the mailman. Insight into Paradise’s bunker dynamics, with 10,000 outsiders threatening the group’s safety and resources. As Paradise heads toward a showdown, Rob and Chappell ask whether the Alex device can change history, and if the next episode will truly tie together the complex timelines. Will the survivors face rebuilding from scratch, or does time travel rewrite their futures? Chapters: 00:00 Where’s Joe Bluth? Rob Reacts to Paradise Season 2 Ep 4
Rob Reacts to Paradise Season 2 Ep 4 Paradise Season 2, Episode 4 sends Xavier on a dramatic journey that leaves both the characters and listeners with plenty to unpack. Host Rob Cesternino teams up with Chappell to break down the latest events, including family turmoil, life-and-death decisions, and haunting glimpses of what lies ahead. The emotional stakes are raised as Xavier navigates a world where trust is scarce, and every choice could mean survival or heartbreak. Rob and Chappell dive in as Xavier searches for his missing wife, Terry, only to find himself caring for a newborn and wrestling with tough questions about family loyalty and responsibility. The episode sprawls out across both the bunker and the battered landscape outside, with the hosts tracing Xavier and Annie’s journey and the larger consequences of the world’s devastation. The flashbacks and time jumps serve up twists, as both discuss how events tie together, from a mixed family forming in Paradise, to President Bradford trying to rally hope inside the bunker, and Annie’s tragic fate after childbirth. Explore these highlights: Xavier and Annie’s uneasy partnership, sparked by a medical emergency and the need to survive, and their tense negotiations over travel plans. The emotional impact of Annie’s death, with Rob relating the childbirth scenes to real-life anxiety and Chappell connecting medical details to TV drama. President Bradford’s optimistic push to name the bunker baby “Hope” while exploring the value of symbols for morale. Speculation about Sinatra’s evolving role and mysterious motives, including hints at scientific innovation and possible space travel or time manipulation. Moments of humor and skepticism, as Chappell questions “work husband” dynamics and the trustworthiness of several key characters. From Annie’s survival challenge in Graceland to Xavier’s journey with the Lost Boys and the power plays inside the bunker, this week’s discussion uncovers the tangled motivations and evolving alliances driving the series forward. Rob and Chappell dive deep: Annie’s two-year survival inside Graceland, the emergence of Link, and a surprising decision not to join the Colorado mission. The Tastemakers | The Game of Thrones Sequels We Want to See
The Tastemakers | The Game of Thrones Sequels We Want to See Taran Armstrong (@armstrongtaran) and Grace Leeder (@hifromgrace) are The Tastemakers! Every week, Grace and Taran tell you about what’s on TV, which shows are worth watching, and which shows are worth skipping. This week, Taran and Grace are joined by Rich (DM Philly), Mari, and Chappell to break down the finale, and the future, of A Night of the Seven Kingdoms and the wider Game of Thrones universe. The panel digs into how A Night of the Seven Kingdoms has unexpectedly punched back into the cultural mainstream. With critical acclaim, strong word of mouth, and even an IMDb ratings skirmish with Breaking Bad fans, the show has reminded audiences what made Westeros compelling in the first place: intimate stakes, rich characterization, and storytelling rooted firmly in George R.R. Martin’s voice, something many felt was missing in House of the Dragon. From there, the group opens the writers’ room and pitches smart, restraint-first spinoff ideas designed to avoid franchise burnout. Concepts include a tightly focused Robert’s Rebellion political drama, a sequel-style Great Council series meant to reckon with the original show’s divisive ending, and an ambitious anthology in the vein of Black Mirror or Star Wars: Visions. Genre swings follow with spy thrillers inspired by Andor, offbeat buddy comedies, romances, and even grounded crime stories set in the shadows of Westeros. To close things out, the hosts share what they’re watching now, from The Pit and Hacks to new films like The Phoenician Scheme and Marty Supreme starring Timothée Chalamet. If you’re craving thoughtful franchise talk with big ideas and sharp takes, this episode delivers. The Tastemakers |Talking Alien: Earth with Stephen Fishbach
The Tastemakers |Talking Alien: Earth with Stephen Fishbach Each week, The Tastemakers reviews television and movies, advising listeners on “what you should and shouldn’t watch”. This week, with Taran on “Big Brother duty”, Grace is joined by “off-brand Taran”, Stephen Fishbach. Watch on this episode on Youtube: https://youtu.be/-e-akyIX4jI Key Topics and Discussion Points: The main topic of the episode is the recently concluded show Alien: Earth, which Grace and Stephen discuss in “full spoiler detail”. Alien Earth Analysis: Stephen, a fan of the Alien franchise, argues that critics who complained about the characters in Alien Earth behaving misunderstand the premise of an Alien movie. Grace and Stephen agree that the show contained “a ton of really interesting ideas,” but they felt that many were not executed perfectly, leading to a “disjointed” feel. Grace believes that Noah Holly, the show’s creator, felt constrained by being asked by FX to do an Alien show set on Earth before the events of the first Alien movie. They discuss Holly’s strong central idea of putting human consciousness into synthetic bodies as a means of saving humanity. However, they felt this Peter Pan idea often clashed with the necessary inclusion of aliens. The metaphor was described as “really heavy-handed”. Both hosts praised Episode 5 (the Imaginino episode), which Steven found “so perfect”. They also found the “eyeball alien” to be “much more interesting and cooler than the actual xenomorph” in the show. They agreed the show was “really beautifully done” and looked “great top to bottom,” praising its “cassette futurism” and the way it successfully nailed the Alien visual identity. Steven felt the character Maro, played by Baba, was the most exciting part of the show and suggested he should have his own spin-off series. They noted that the Xenomorph model looked a little off, with Stephen suggesting it “looked like someone wearing alien pants”. Grace rated Alien Earth as potentially in her “top 15” shows of the year, but “not elite,” noting that even during the dry summer for television, there were better shows. Stephen’s Viewing Habits: Stephen shared that he watches very little TV, often watching Jeopardy with his wife after the kids are down and then scrolling on his phone. He notes that he has to be selective because his wife dislikes anything with drama or conflict. He primarily finds things to watch that “percolates up” and match his “existing interest,” such as the Alien franchise. The Chair Company: Grace discusses The Chair Company, Tim Robinson’s new 30-minute absurdist and surreal HBO Sunday Night Show. Stephen, who enjoys Tim Robinson’s previous work (I Think You Should Leave), admits he usually breaks up episodes into pieces and watches clips on YouTube due to lack of time. • Stephen’s Book: Escape! Stephen discusses his upcoming book, Escape (with an exclamation point). The book follows a reality TV contestant seeking lost glory on another jungle reality show. Stephen explains that the novel explores the competing dramas between the contestants and the show’s producers, who are “storytellers” crafting narratives out of human lives. Book Recommendations: ? Stephen highly recommends the sci-fi book Annihilation (by Jeff VanderMeer), praising its world-building and perfect narrative arc, and the science fiction book Children of Time (by Adrian Tchaikovsky). ? Stephen also mentions Alex Garland’s book The Beach. ? Grace recommends the very popular audiobook Project Hail Mary. ? Grace mentions picking up Richard Osman’s fourth book in The Thursday Murder Club series. She also discusses the Red Rising books. •Other TV Recommendations: Grace recommends the FX show The Lowdown, an “Oklahoma noir” by Sterling Harjo (creator of Reservation Dogs). She also praises The Pit and Andor Season 2. Send in feedback every week by emailing [email protected] Never miss a minute of RHAP’s scripted coverage! The Tastemakers: Dexter Is Back and Better Than Ever?
The Tastemakers: Dexter Is Back and Better Than Ever? Taran Armstrong (@armstrongtaran) and Grace Leeder (@hifromgrace) are The Tastemakers! Every week, Grace and Taran tell you about what’s on TV, which shows are worth watching, and which shows are worth skipping. In TV news, J.J. Abrams’ show Duster was cancelled by HBO Max, likely due to a lack of traction despite favorable critical and audience ratings. Critically acclaimed reality series Queer Eye will conclude with its next season after a significant nine-year run. On the renewal front, the popular anime Solo Leveling is set for a live-action adaptation on Netflix. Apple TV+’s Murderbot received a Season 2 renewal. A Scrubs reboot with original stars has been ordered to series by ABC, prompting conflicted feelings from the hosts. Additionally, Dr. Heather Collins will not return for Season 2 of The Pit, possibly due to scheduling conflicts, a development that could be woven into the show’s narrative. In surprising news, Larry David is set to lead a history sketch show produced by the Obamas for HBO. The hosts also reviewed several new releases. Dexter Resurrection (Showtime/Paramount+) is noted for its “campy tone” and the way it retcons the divisive ending of Dexter New Blood. Michael C. Hall and David Zayas return. Foundation Season 3 on Apple TV+ has begun, though its initial episode left the hosts feeling it wasn’t as strong as anticipated, with expectations needing a “reset”. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia premiered its 17th season with a “very funny” crossover episode with Abbott Elementary. The new Superman movie, directed by James Gunn, was highly praised for its “human portrayal of the character” and its timely social commentary, and is performing well at the box office. Poker Face Season 2 concluded positively, with its ending setting up a new reason for Charlie Kale to be on the run. A significant portion of the podcast was dedicated to the New York Times’ Top 100 Movies of the 21st Century list. Parasite topped both the critic and reader versions of the list, a choice the hosts agreed with. The high placement of Mulholland Drive (number two on the reader list) was a point of discussion. Other notable films in the top ten included No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, The Dark Knight, Interstellar, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Spirited Away, Get Out, The Social Network, Moonlight, and In the Mood for Love. The hosts shared their personal favorite films, with Taran’s list featuring films like the Vengeance trilogy, Sinners, My Sassy Girl, Call Me By Your Name, and Green Room, and Grace highlighting films such as The Banshees of Inisherin, Petite Maman, and The Green Knight. Looking ahead, I Know What You Did Last Summer is returning as a timely horror movie. Ari Aster’s new black comedy, Edington, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone, delves into COVID-19 lockdown themes, with mixed early reactions. Finally, Taran announced his new book, “Behind the Mirror,” focusing on the reality show Big Brother, available for pre-sale, while Grace mentioned upcoming interviews and a new weekly recap series for Dark, her favorite scripted show. 0:00 Podcast Welcome and Overview 1:05 Cancelations and Renewals 10:14 Dexter Resurrection (Paramount+/Showtime) has released two episodes, and initial impressions are positive, especially compared to the first episode of Dexter: Original Sin, which felt like a parody. 16:30 Foundation (Apple) Season 3 has started with weekly episode releases. 19:25 It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FXX/Hulu) Season 17 kicked off with the second part of its Abbott Elementary crossover, which successfully navigates content restrictions between ABC and FXX. A second episode, “Frank is in a Coma,” was also released. 21:40 Ballard, a spin-off of Bosch, has been released. Fans describe it as “fine” and praise Maggie Q’s performance. 22:50 Poker Face (Peacock) wrapped up its second season. 26:50 Superman movie was released and is considered “really good” despite not being perfect. 36:10 Other new releases include Mercy for None (Netflix), Too Much (Netflix), The Institute, Sovereign 39:50 New York Times Top 100 Movies of the 21st Century 1:11:00 Upcoming Releases and Host Projects Send in feedback every week by emailing [email protected] Never miss a minute of RHAP’s scripted coverage!
