    Erica was 29 when she was arrested, and she is now 43 years old. She has been incarcerated for approximately 14 years. She is serving a life sentence in SCI. Muncy.

    Jean was arrested in 2004 at the age of 45. She is now 64 years old and has been incarcerated for just over 18 years, and is serving a life sentence at SCI. Muncy.

    Nacola was 32 when convicted and she has served approximately 11 years of her life sentence. She is incarcerated at SCI Muncy.

    Marilyn

    Marilyn was arrested in 1972, when she was 19. She has been incarcerated for approximately 52 years and serving two consecutive life sentence in SCI Muncy.

    Tanya was incarcerated in 1989 at the age of 19. She has served approximately 35 years of her life sentence. She is currently incarcerated at SCI. Muncy.

    Incarcerated at 21, Elena has served approximately 6 years of her 20 to 40 year sentence at SCI.Muncy.

    At 33 Patricia received a double life sentence. Today she is 59 and currently incarcerated at SCIMuncy.

    Terri was arrested at 22 and charged with 2nd degree murder. At 24 she was sentenced to serve life at SCI. Muncy. Today at 54, she has been incarcerated for approximately 32 years.

    A conversation with Dr. Kathryn Whiteley and AJ Nutter.Kathryn Whiteley Ph.D. originally from Australia, is one of a few criminological researcherswho have meet individual women convicted of murder, serving life, life without parole sentencesfor almost 20 years, in maximum security prisons in Ireland, Australia, Pennsylvania and Texasin the United States.Her goal is to avoid the gravitation towards the crime and motive and learnmore of the entirety of the women’s lived experience, from childhood, adulthood and theirincarceration experience. Her contention is that a focus limited to crime and motive yields anincomplete understanding of the phenomenon of killing by a woman; she asserts the women aremore than their crime. She has published in academia, appeared on international television, inmedia, produced an educational documentary on women serving life, and is a college professor.
