August first 1976 was the founding date for Shelby Systems ministry software. Inquoris “Inky” Johnson was a star football player at the University of Tennessee with just eight games to go before achieving his life-long dream of being drafted into the National Football League. Shelby Cares is a group of volunteers working with Shelby Systems to assist worthy organizations that are making the world a better place through Christian principles. The new Executive Director for JIFF (Juvenile Intervention and Faith-Based Follow-Up), Richard Graham, is visiting with us today here at the Shelby World Headquarters. The movie Unbroken tells the story of Louis Zamperini, a World War II prisoner of war survivor who spent 47 days on a raft in the shark-infested waters of the Pacific Ocean. Shelby Cares is more than just a slogan at Shelby Systems! With Christmas coming up, we decided to take a group of Shelby volunteers over to JIFF (Juvenile Intervention and Faith Based Follow Up) to see if there was something we could do for their ministry. It turned out to be a great day, and you will see what was accomplished and the friends that were made during this brief video presentation. In addition you will have the opportunity to meet the four members of the Shelby Cares committee and discover what inspired this project, which ministries are being assisted locally, the biggest impact of the effort to date, and finally you will learn what Shelby’s fund raising efforts will go toward this year.
