To close out Pride Month, the sisters come back with a conversation they had a while back when they were together, in person. They discuss Missy coming out and various aspects of being an ally, family member, coworker, and more to a person in the LGBTQIAP+ community.

This episode, the sisters expand on their conversation around spirituality and what they believe. They talk about how they came to their beliefs at this stage in their lives and their influences. It brings up some interesting thoughts and feelings that the sisters touch on and decide to get deeper into on a future episode of the podcast.

This week, Missy and Sheryl-Lynn are working through trying to figure out what to save for the podcast and what to save for themselves.

We’ve all had to have the talk and the sisters remember some of their funny and embarrassing stories of having the talk about puberty, periods, and sex. Sheryl Lynn is now on the other side as a parent and is even more embarrassed talking about it!

The sisters revisit a conversation they had on the podcast a couple of weeks ago (from the episode titled “Celebrating Small Wins…ish) about therapy, and it wasn’t exactly easy. Sheryl Lynn expresses things that felt triggering to her during the conversation and Missy listens and responds with her own thoughts and truths. Loving expressions and apologies were made. Sometimes in life, it can be helpful and uplifting to acknowledge the little things to get momentum for the big things. Missy and Sheryl Lynn discuss the differences in their tendencies to celebrate themselves, and they point out the importance of celebrating small wins. They start with, “Stop telling people that no one will love them until they love themselves. Stop planting the idea in people’s brains that they are unworthy of love because of their own struggle.”

Here’s the Situation: In previous episodes, Sheryl-Lynn mentions a change she experienced in relation to Missy. Sheryl-Lynn celebrates (?) a year since an invasive surgery and needing Missy to help take care of her. This throws the sisters into a complete role reversal. In this episode, Sheryl-Lynn shares how her perception of Missy changes and what revelations came to light about her capability.

Here’s the situation: siblings are often treated differently by their grown-ups and it’s not uncommon for that to spark some sibling rivalry. Missy & Sheryl-Lynn spend this episode exploring how they’ve been treated differently. With the nearly 8 years between them, their circumstances led to much of the same.
