Solo Greebo & The Tempus Collective
by Stewart Grieve
The Tempus Collective are : Kevin Fleming - writing, vocals & keysStewart Grieve (Solo Greebo) - writing, keys and productionTempus are a duo hailing from Glasgow/Scotland, consisting of Kevin Fleming (vocals and keys) and Stewart Grieve (Keys, programming and production). The boys first met at school and have been playing together since 1983. They got their first 4-track a few years later and have continued to be bedroom music makers ever since, except for a 10 year recess to attend to family life.Over the years there have been various musicians who have joined the ranks but it remains a two piece outfit for the moment with guest musicians joining the band for selected projects as they are required.Influenced by the likes of The Blue Nile, David Sylvian,Thomas Feiner and similar melancholic artists, the Tempus sound is usually a subdued affair that could never be considered mainstream."We spend a lot of time on production, we always have, it's about making the best of what you

The Tempus Collective - The Blue Green Hollow
Music & Lyrics - Kevin Fleming & Stewart Grieve Vocals - Kevin Fleming Production - Stewart Grieve Mastered using ozone 11 Meet me on the corner Of Renfield and of West Georges, lane I’m told, Let us wander in the rain, on streets that glisten gold, Talkin traffic, walking home Meet me in the station The sweetest sense of fuel, ignites the very soul, The sound of engines, People talking, On the Square, where heads they once did roll. City of dreams, The likes of which you’ve never seen, The curtain falls, our gift to all, The people we have been, Boarded windows, Empty houses, Blackened buildings, broken homes Meet me on the quayside, that launched and hauled the earth across Pacific seas, We’ll take a boat ride, down the water And gaze upon the firth, and on the Clyde.

The Tempus Collective - Send In The Clowns
"Send In the Clowns" is a song written by Stephen Sondheim for the 1973 musical A Little Night Music, an adaptation of Ingmar Bergman's 1955 film Smiles of a Summer Night. It is a ballad from Act Two, in which the character Desirée reflects on the ironies and disappointments of her life. Among other things, she looks back on an affair years earlier with the lawyer Fredrik, who was deeply in love with her, but whose marriage proposals she had rejected. Meeting him after so long, she realizes she is in love with him and finally ready to marry him, but now it is he who rejects her: He is in an unconsummated marriage with a much younger woman. Desirée proposes marriage to rescue him from this situation, but he declines, citing his dedication to his bride. Reacting to his rejection, Desirée sings this song. The song is later reprised as a coda after Fredrik's young wife runs away with his son, and Fredrik is finally free to accept Desirée's offer.[1] Sondheim wrote the song specifically for Glynis Johns, who created the role of Desirée on Broadway. The song is structured with four verses and a bridge, and uses a complex compound meter. It became Sondheim's most popular song after Frank Sinatra recorded it in 1973 and Judy Collins' version charted in 1975 and 1977. Subsequently, numerous other artists recorded the song, and it has become a standard. This is our version with a Tempus twist.

The Tempus Collective - "Rise" 2022 Remix
This is a re-imagining of the track we first released two years ago, we were not happy with a lot of it, mix not right, vocal not really what Kev wanted in places and the whole thing was a bit muddy sounding, so I've changed a lot of the instrumentation, laid down better guitars and bass, plus with more modern plugins and 2 more years experience in production techniques this is now a totally different sounding beast. Strange love, is rare, Embrace it if you dare, Strange loves, can fade, With a pocket full of tears, Wept through all those years, And a suitcase, full of dreams, Empty now, or so it seems, I stopped the rain fall, I stood to face all, I rise again, I rise again Strangers and neighbours, updated status, Taking their chance, Like your never gonna get again I stopped the rain fall, I stood to face all, I rise again, I rise again If you ever find a way to feel, You can really work and make it real, Should I ever make a move for you, you can love me if you feel it too I stopped the rain fall, I stood to face all, I rise again, I rise again X 2 So love breaks you Hide away, Rise up, shout out (Rising) Shine on, move on (Rising) Break free, with me, (Rising) Stand and face up, leave it this way... The Tempus Collective - "Redemption"
Redemption: All the prayers I've made On this cold September day Has the call been heard Or just failed send. All the faith I've shared Has it changed this world Dictatorships and power trips Religious words that contradict I've rid myself from all that's free The bourbon that's from Tennessee The cigarettes, the girls, the weed, Yet still you turn your back to me. Should you forgive me Then I shan’t fear you Please don't regret me Or shed no tear..... Please don't forsake me For I have loved you Please don’t forget me, When I have gone ....... ............................................................................................................................................... Music by S Grieve & K Fleming Words by S Grieve & K Fleming. Recorded, mixed and mastered at SG Audio Production Studios Recorded December 2021 .............................................................................................................................................. Stop all the songs, Hold all those phones, Roll out the Christmas parade. Bring in the day, The old fashioned way, Never afraid. There's a Mountain, ahead We can move it, Should we dare, To take, The chance, Of all, life's gifts This is the one, You have become, the sun that shone, The whole day through, I will be home, The road maybe long, before the Hope Is gone to soon I was standing in the Gutter, Living like no other, Everyone could see, You were talking with a stranger, Living life in danger, Of all the things you’d be. Lock all the doors, surrender the cause, Stop all the songs, that breaks in your heart,

The Tempus Collective - "Secret Garden" (Bruce Springsteen)
She'll let you in her house If you come knockin' late at night She'll let you in her mouth If the words you say are right If you pay the price She'll let you deep inside But there's a secret garden she hides She'll let you in her car To go drivin' round She'll let you into the parts of herself That'll bring you down She'll let you in herheart If you got a hammer and a vise But into her secret garden, don't think twice You've gone a million miles How far'd you get To that place where You can't remember And you can't forget She'll lead you down a path There'll be tenderness in the air She'll let you come just far enough So you know she's really there She'll look at you and smile And her eyes will say She's got a secret garden Where everything you want Where everything you need Will always stay A million miles away. ............................................................................................................................................... The Tempus Collective - "Run The River"
A wintery sounding bit of Abstract Shoe Gazing Deep Chill Jazz from the Tempus duo.... "Run The River" I run the river The river runs to me Dances clear and so very free, Like veins that will carry Bloodlines flow, into the sea Dark water still - today Deep and cold as, night becomes the day, Bewitched by the winter, The frozen lochs are skater free….. Run the river, Run with me…. Hold forever, hold that fear…. The path is soft but, crisp below The leaves that breath hold Secrets of us all Submerged by the waters The undertow will pull you through the day ............................................................................................................................................... The Tempus Collective - King Of Catastrophe
Music – Stewart Grieve & Kevin Fleming Lyrics – Iain White, Kevin Fleming & Stewart Grieve This song is for my very good departed friend Brian Lennon, and released on my late brother’s birthday. It was made with love and respect... King of Catastrophe One day feeds to another Flick the radio on – don't even bother A chasm grows, resentment gathers Silence – our currency in tatters Do you feel me? King of catastrophe Teardrops – become the rage in the sea Raindrops – rage in the sea An empty room, my eyes feel the weight Revel in the gloom, life’s in a state I’m always here, where I've been before Thinking that I can’t knock down this door Just a fate that came too soon Our demise in fractured full bloom I’ve got no big master plan I’m the real nowhere man... The Tempus Collective - Supernatural Romance
A very special thanks to my friend Iain White for writting the lyrics that inspired us to create this track. Lyrics: I was standing, by the coast You texted out the blue I sent you, the photographs, Reminding me of you The light was so pretty We stood face-to-face Across the miles and miles Of social media space Our perfect, Long-distance Our perfect, Supernatural, Supernatural romance I aint going to, be in the way Of dates, or your new friends I just want to, keep this alive However it may end I'll never be good at the poetry as you I hate when folk are mean And hope can't, be seen It makes you feel so blue Our perfect, Long-distance Our perfect, Supernatural, Supernatural romance (supernatural) Let's be John and Yoko Hopelessly in love On a journey with each other Imagination chalks the curve Maybe we'll have us our moment this night Where seagulls cry and foxes hide And silly, crushes, Will all but take their flight Our perfect, Long-distance Our perfect, Supernatural, Supernatural romance (supernatural) Music: Grieve / Fleming Words : Iain White Recorded & Mixed in February 2018. The Tempus Collective - "A Moment's Peace"
A Moments Peace.... A boy without cares, Walks in himself, Through fields of despair – he moves. Told he was no-one, No faith in their words, Life in this day…..his day, If this is all, its too late. For all the wrong reasons, It always fades away, Blind to the song, he sung, For way to long…. He sought only silence, A moment to feel, A moment of peace….to steal He fought his convictions, From the moment he woke, A moment of peace, inside... If this is all, its too late… It’s too late... ............................................................................................................................................... Music & Lyrics by S Grieve & K Fleming Recorded & Mixed in November 2017. Title track from the album of the same name.

The Tempus Collective - "Salt Water Black"
Lyrics: His master, his father, he breathes his last, A mother, Beholden, freed from the loss A victim from days of truths, In a world they would not choose, Freedom from servitude, This day… He sailed… And the lashes across his back, Whisper in the wind… good god. He’ll miss her beyond these words, She will…Reside… And where the portrait hung, The boy is long since gone…. A single brush stroke hides the view, And the Skies… Look Down on streets of wealth, And the World took for itself. And he’ll always have his cross to bear, Shackled to the end he fears, Branded for his ship to sail One soul for the state And city merchants trade their skins, A revolution here within, Men of steel in cotton fields, As she cries for a son, He wonders if she’ll ever know, He wonders if she’d ever gone, The Suffrage, The stately homes, Gallows lead him down, And the lies that you tell, Strung out and raised against your will, I could run, This city raised this son……….

The Tempus Collective - "Heavens Corner Shop"
Heavens Corner Shop I Kick up leaves, like I've got a cause, Straight down the middle, and up until the cross. Before I know it, I’ve lost my way, I doubt what she’d had to say, I go to Heavens corner shop again, My daily bread, I have to earn. Breathe in, breathe out, then count to ten Close your eyes, and remember them, Breathe in, breathe out, Now the pain it flows, Let them go…… I think of him, from time to time, Wonder if, pray for a sign, There’s nothing left to see, Just pin holes, lookin back to me. Life goes on. Moments will haunt you, an unquestionable fact, Time moves on, you don’t get it back, Breathe in, breathe out, then count to ten Close your eyes, and remember them, Breathe in, breathe out, Now the pain it flows, Let them go…… Breathe in, breathe out, Now the pain it flows, Let them go…… ............................................................................................................................................... The Tempus Collective - "Heaven Sent"
Music and lyrics Kevin Fleming & Stewart Grieve With thanks to Stuart Gairns and Steven Young for their most excellent guitar work. She steps out of the rain, wonders at his shame, The colours on her face, remembers different days, Of heaven, yeah, heaven.....again, Raised a preacher girl, Forgives his ills, his very soul, I would love you to the end, As a sinner......always, (chorus) The stars that lead the way, will turn out on this day, Strangers in the end, will heart skip beat again, I will understand, always in the end, Till the end, She steps out into the city, one lifted hand to many, The strike from years of fury, And as shameless though it seems, hopelessly she dreams, (chorus) I will love you till the end, The hearts, the flowers, the hollow words that never mend, She steps out in the rain, hopes that lie in shame, Guilt stained are her hands, remembers better days, Of freedom, yeah, heaven.....again.....

The Tempus Collective - "Birmingham"
In 1960 Birmingham Alabama is the most segregated city in southern America, a brutal regime is in place denying blacks any rights. City Mayor, Bull Connor sets his dogs on the black community, he hoses them, and denies them all civil liberties. Churches are burned and men, women and children are brutalised, some are targeted and killed as a result of the colour of their skin. 1963 saw the civil rights fight start in this city, so chosen because of its troubles. One year later, following the great march on Washington and Luthers ‘I have a dream speech’ the civil rights act of 1964 was signed. “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” ― Martin Luther King Jr. Music & Lyrics by S Grieve & K Fleming (based around the words of Martin Luther King Jr.) How do you tell, your seven year old girl, She aint going to funtown, today It’s the colour of your skin, she just aint getting in, Not today, no how…. The dream that once you had, For-ever shall be heard, Let freedom ring, ..this day, From every city If they take your name, sing it, As the churches burn, there never was shame, And as the crosses flame, white cotton Dixie, Jailed for peace and prayer, Alabama 63, If a man has not found, some – thing for which he is prepared to die, Then he aint fit to live, this life we call our own, we call our own… Gotta fight to call our own……… Thank god almighty, we are free at last…..free at last……

The Tempus Collective - "Gaia"
Thanks again to Wargames79 for the guitars on this track. With every branch of blame, The best of men, they take the praise,….again. And every brick that’s laid, Sends shivers through the fields… in vain. Restoration of the feud, Redress the years for, Seeds that were sown….. Resurrection of the soil, Is coming for your soul, And rivers flow like bloods beneath the skin… Refrain..... Ive lived the life of loves lost hope, Defended from the faith, Wounded from the change, The dark, the stars, the heart the soul, To dust we shall return, This nemesis of earth, Restoration of the feud, Redress the years for, Seeds that were sown….. Resurrection of the soil, Is coming for your soul, And rivers flow like bloods beneath the skin… The Lessons of the word, Refrain…. This mothers earth. Refrain, refrain….

The Tempus Collective - "Traffic"
Late night, Light the street lights and, Embrace life, and the traffic fades,....it fades. The city wakes before the sun, The river washes through and on, The cars, the people, the street life urges on, Amidst the traffic, I hear laughter through the rain, The sub way trains, for us, while the great they'll take the plane's. The Restaurants lie bare now, The stations fares have gone, And people sleep in doorways. Just People watching, Clear skies, turning grey, Time to join the pedestrian ways, Take shelter from the rains of the day, Till this traffic fades, till another day.

Solo Greebo - "Life & Death" - From LOST
Was never really happy with my first go at this, the piano was weak and the strings sounded poor, was just messing about with it the other night and after I replaced the piano with the Alica Keys plug in felt the track sounded much better. The RC 48 Reverb has also made a massive difference, man do I love that plug in. Dropped the bpm's by 5 and added a few chord corrections, probably not many will notice but I just wanted to get it right for me.

The Tempus Collective - "Torridon Fair"
A track about a particularly beautiful but desolate part of the Scottish Highlands that has always been a favourite visiting spot for me. Thanks to Steve & Billy for Bass & Guitars again on this one. The faded whites of these snow capped fells, and mist that shrouds him.. well, Faintly…….The Stag steps from the glen. On the quiet hill, He stands, so strong.... At the Torridon Fair, she’ll take your hand to lead you there A fire burns within the soul, with a heart all shades of gold,.. The summer rains are in the air, and the red skies of the fair, A boat lies cast aside the shore, returns its timbers to God and rests in auld folklore, Of kings and men who stood and fought for so much more, Great Northern lights, the rise the fall, they guide them all, On this quiet hill, Their spirit lives on… Deserted barns, the empty crofts, the tumbled ruins, of what once was, Redundant rail tracks, the fallow mills, the ghosts of steel, of steam are all but heather now,

The Tempus Collective - "A Return To The Fray"
A track about the cruelty of war and the world's obsession with it, also the needless cruelty to innocent lives that get drawn into a conflict they often do not want to be involved in. A Return to the Fray. 1st Verse: They wanted to be strong, They wanted to be, oh so strong, They wanted to be free, They wanted to be free, just like me, But they failed, They were failed - failed by me. Chorus: Does anybody know, Does everybody fear, Did anybody feel - like I feel, Does everybody share, Does anybody Care, Did anybody bleed - the way I do. And they gave - but did they really have to go and stay, 2nd verse: They say it breaks no law, to take an innocent to war, I cant save this child, from life's disease, We didn’t have to stay, There must be another way, Bring us back now, Give it back now, Take me home......................... Chorus: Does anybody know, Does everybody fear, Did anybody feel - like I feel, Does everybody share, Does anybody Care, Did anybody bleed - the way I do. Does anybody know, Does anybody care, Did everybody feel - like I feel, If every soul thats here, could shed a silent tear, Could Everybody bleed - the way they do.

The Tempus Collective - "Yūgen"
Yugen “”to be so mysteriously faint and profound as to be beyond human perception and under- standing.” “a profound, mysterious sense of the beauty of the universe… and the sad beauty of human suffering” “To watch the sun sink behind a flower clad hill. To wander on in a huge forest without thought of return. To stand upon the shore and gaze after a boat that disappears behind distant islands. To contemplate the flight of wild geese seen and lost among the clouds. And, subtle shadows of bamboo on bamboo.” Zeami Motokiyo. Yugen (A Song For Pamela) The morning sun it hides, Behind the drawn blind, It cuts the air, Like broken shards, In a dusty room. We embrace the day, With open arms, And celebrate, With childish charm. The still un-woken mind, With thoughts of you in time, Remembered dreams, Of roses in a stream, Like tears in the rain, Like roses in a stream. So scared to lose, What has been found, So scared of living, With my feet upon this ground, And the flowers scattered on the stair, And the roses drift from here to there. It was all we ever had….. Relieved the night has come, Relieved the day has gone, Love is still here, And love it is still here, To greet the new days dawn…

The Tempus Collective - "Soham Rain"
"Sometimes it rolls in, as a gradual mist that makes for sad, reflective days; sometimes it descends as a thick fog, a blanket of pain and confusion,” Mr Wells senior said. “We accept that these feelings will be with us for the rest of our lives." Quote from Holly's father, July 2012 on 10th anniversary of his daughters murder..... Rushing, across fields that once were green, A fire in the breeze, The embers on the sea If I had - a penny for the rain, This pretty rain, Such pretty rain, The farewell prayers, In the rain, This rain, All so frail. So frail Lightning Strikes, Upon this face, Free......at last.

The Unwinding Coil was a big production and there were lots of wee bits of added polish to make it, this is how it sounded before it went into the El Greebo production pit, even tho it's raw, it still has something about it that stands out i think and I really like this less complicated instrumentation and less clutered vocal (there are no backing tracks at all) so just thought I'd share with you guys.

The Tempus Collective - "Rage In Desire"
Special thanks to Dan D (Collecting Pool) for the bass and Billy (Gentle Threat) for guitars, awesome job boys. This is a remake of the very first track we recorded is a studio back in 87, the original can be heard here http://snd.sc/LwWx8g It's been a bit of a labour of love and using a 3/4 time signature has proved to be very difficult for us but we enjoyed the challenge. Rage in Desire. Tempus. - February 2012 - A Reworking from 1987. Bio: This song was written some 25 years ago. While working with a small theatre co. I was struck by the competitive nature over the lead roles and general lust for fame and glory from the cast, mainly kids themselves. This was a comment on the attitude of the time, which has gone on to shape our current social society and dominate today's media. Lyrics: I want to have every part, I wanted to take hold of my heart, I feel now Iam ready to show, A feeling I just can't conceal anymore, Whenever you're young, this feeling inside, This burning desire, a feeling of pride, I stand here and why, my life burns the fire, I am watching my flame, it's been burning on, on......... I see it in their eyes, That diamond light is mine, I see what's ahead for me, and I shine on and on.... and on. I feel inside, the breath of all my crimes, Leading to all, well and I tried, The stage is set, The lighting glows, Enter the hope, And in my time, I believe, I must turn and complete, Any hold on my life, that is free and deceived, And Iam holding on........
