Sound Lounge Radio

This is a special Sound Lounge Radio podcast of FLOCstock, the 2nd Annual Earth Day Rock Fest that took place at the FLOC Outdoor Education Center (www.flocoutdoors.org) on April 20, 2008. The show features the music of and interviews with two great local young bands, Mr. Potter and the Truth Squad and Lazaretto. We give a shout out to the bands and everyone else who braved the monsoon weather to make the day a success!

The AWESOME Club is a group of middle school students dedicated to educating their peers on the dangers of underage drinking and drug-use. This is a short film that club members created, acted in, and produced about marijuana's effects on short term memory. Mastering took place at Mike's Legacy Studio at FOCUS. AWESOME stands for Alcohol Won't Ever Destroy Our Memorable Events. DVDs available upon request for a small fee.

Ever wonder what goes on in the production studio? Probably not, but what you hear on the air is probably not the first take in the studio. Or the second. Or the third. Here's Real Radio - A Glimpse Behind Radio Production. This episode comes from way back at the beginning of my radio career when I was just starting out in Virginia. (The station's call letters have been edited out to protect the innocent). The PSA really wasn't that difficult. I stopped counting the takes. But we stuck it out to the bitter end. The PSA actually ran on the station for years. I still laugh until I cry even after all these years every time I listen to our struggle. I guarantee you will know what a PSA is by the end too.
