Mel, Tom and Robert talk about version 9 of the software, the earnings call. Tesla is PROFITABLE - can it stay that way? Mel is enraged by the idea of opening up Tesla superchargers to other electric car manufacturers! The plan is to go back to twice a month with our full shows, for the Talking Tesla Patreon Patrons.

Talking Tesla Nation! Another episode is here. Just for a change, Mel rants about superchargers. Tom discusses his recent trip to Oregon. They discuss Autopilot and V 9.0, and Model version 9. Usually we would send out an interview or tell a Tesla story - but not this month. There has been SO much happening it the Tesla universe, that all three of the guys got together to discuss the news. There is discussion of the Tesla earnings call, and of course Elon’s recent tweet and blog post. Tesla going private?

The guys begin this episode by calling out a certain podcast that has appeared with an awkwardly similar name! Robert tells the details of his recent car accident. Luckily, he was driving his Model S! The guys discuss. How long will it take to fix his S? How much will it cost? Mel talks about his recent Model X tyre replacement situation and his monthly Model S lease.They also catch up on the news of the past month for all things Tesla, Space X, Model 3 and more.

Tom and Robert bring you this weeks Talking Tesla news. This week's show focuses on the Model 3 user interface. They walk us through the Model 3 screen interface and explain the centre screen in detail. They have also just returned from the Los Angeles Tesla Owners Club event and they have much to report, including this week's Tesla, Autonomous driving and Space X news.

Then much discussion ensues about the dubious rumors in articles this week about the fate of a top-secret spacecraft, known as Zuma. The guys talk about truckers and the future of automation- after reading a NY Times article about the "Death Of The American Trucker". They talk about solar in California, and the economics of public utilities. Plus all of the usual Tesla, and Supercharger news and updates.

Happy Holidays to everyone! Lots of fun to report this week. Tom and Robert return from their big adventure up to Vandenberg for the Space X Falcon 9 launch with stories to tell. Robert interviews the first Non-tesla-employee-or-person-with-tesla-connections to receive their Model 3! Also Mel gives us a little update about what been going on in his world. Robert and Tom talk Model 3 Deliveries, including the delivery of Model 3s to non-Tesla employees! Big news for EV's in China this week, apparently by the end of 2017, Shenzhen's entire fleet of 16,000 buses will have shifted to electric. Also another big week of Supercharger announcements, and Robert and Tom invite you to come meet up with them at the Vandenberg SpaceX Launch!

This week Tom and Robert bring you all of the tesla news, including some exciting Boring Company plans. News about VW, the US Postal service, and London Black Cabs. Also Tesla Semi receives another large order of 50 electric trucks from Sysco and some investors in exchange traded funds are taking another look at the long term future of energy companies focused on fossil fuels.

Tom and Robert bring the Tesla news to Tesla nation this week. Lots of focus on batteries, with switching on of South Australia's new Tesla lithium battery, the Hornsdale Power Reserve. In other exciting news, the reported total orders of the Tesla Semi trucks including WalMart, Loblaws, Ryder & J.B Hunt is up to around 200! The guys cover the ePrix, Elon's Roadster in space, the supercharger update, and the wonderful letters from our listeners.

Mel is back in the studio this week! He and Tom talk the Model 3. This week the Model 3 Owners Manual was leaked in full, and Tesla opened up Model 3 orders to regular reservation holders to configure! Exciting times. They also speculate about the Tesla Semi and its cost, batteries and more. Robert reports from NYC about this week's Supercharger updates.

THE SEMI EVENT! Tom and Robert have so much to report this week...and they have a special guest in the studio: Dr Mel Herbert! The team are back together and they are talking trucks and fast cars. 

Tom and Robert are in the studio and they are gearing up for the big Tesla Semi Truck event later this week. In the mean time they bring us all of this week's EV, Tesla, Solar, Space X, and supercharger news. Mel chimes in about charging infrastructure, and the ideal EV range. Join us this Thursday for our livestream commentary (we'll shoot out a link via twitter and the show notes) of the Tesla Semi Truck event. 

In this 2017 third quarter, Tesla delivered the 250,000th Tesla, and they experienced an order of magnitude increase in five years. Elon said they were experiencing a “mad growth rate”. This being said, there was also discussion about the Battery issue, and the Model 3 delays. The guys deep dive, and unpack the earnings call.

This week Mel and Robert go deep into the Model 3. They have a friend, Carl Gustave-Rydberg, standing in for Tom this week. Much discussion about the Model 3 trunk, the cupholders, the seats and the screen ensue! Also, they talk about Tesla installing Powerpacks at a Children's hospital in Puerto Rico, some Space X news and Elon Musk’s Gigafactory Campfire!

Thanks to a sale of some 4,000 hats, The Boring Company has raised an additional $80,000 in funding! Tesla is launching new all-electric service vehicles, used to replace service vans next year. They also discuss the 11,000 recalls of Model X, Hyperloop One - now called Virgin Hyperloop, due to The Virgin Group investing in Hyperloop One, and Mel and Robert give their latest opinions on AP 2.0 v AP 1.0. This weeks episode focuses on the Model 3 production schedule. It seems that Tesla has missed production by 85%, according to the goals for delivered vehicles by September. The guys discuss what this means, and why this happened. Level 5 autonomy is also a hot topic this week, after Director of autonomous vehicle integration for General Motors, Scott Miller questioned whether Tesla's hardware is capable of Level 5!

Specifically, Elon announces Space X's 'BFR', the largest rocket ever! Also, Talking Tesla has exclusive audio of Elon unveiling the progress on the world’s largest battery, in South Australia (thanks to Brad Clark). Another huge week in Supercharger news, and lots of other EV news and fun.

Tesla has released a configurator for employees, so the guys discuss whats next. There is much talk about how Tesla is expected to introduce more options for the vehicle, like the non-premium interior and the standard battery pack. Lots of other EV news from Jaguar and Infiniti. Some rumors about Tesla battery packs, news about Gigafactory 1, and a huge week for Superchargers. Another exciting week in Talking Tesla nation!

Nissan, Renault ad Mitsubishi are all ganging up to make EV’s. Elon has been tweeting about the Tesla Pick up. Gigafactory 2 is ramping up officially manufacturing solar roof tiles. Discussion about the power outages during Irma, and how some houses kept the lights on with Solar and batteries. And so much more.

Plenty of climate change discussion after Former FEMA chief advocates rebuilding infrastructure in a way that mitigates storm damage in the future. China announced they will set a deadline to stop fossil fuels, and Chinese EV supercar maker is prepping an all-electric SUV! Also, Tesla updates Model S interior with new back seats. All this, and the usual banter.

So much talk this week in Talking Tesla Nation about the confirmed existence of Hardware 2.5! As you can imagine, the guys have some thoughts. Also discussions about how Tesla sold $1.8 billion of eight-year unsecured bonds at a yield of 5.30 percent. Lots of other news, including more Model 3 details, Bollinger's B1 electric utility truck, the new Leaf, and Mel drools over a story about the Model Y. This week is all about the Tesla 2017 2Q Earnings Call. Mel, Tom and Robert unpack all that was said. There is also some more discussion about who is placing their orders for the Model 3, and we received an anonymous letter from a Tesla employee, explaining some misunderstandings about the Model 3 Delivery Event. SN1 arrived on Saturday, Tesla board member Ira Ehrenpreis was in line to receive the first car, but passed its rights to Elon Musk as a 46th birthday present. Other big EV news is that Volvo announced that all Volvos will have some electric motor, hybrid or full EV from 2019. In Battery news, TESLA energy is about to install the world's biggest battery backup in the world, by a factor of 3 (130 MWH) in 100 days...or forfeit about 50 million! Lots of other renewable energy, autonomous driving, and EV discussions this week.

Its a big week for EV's with Elon's very exciting tweets on Sunday about the Model 3 production schedule, also Tesla introduces new performance enhancements to the Model S and X, Porsche plans 50% of its production to be electric within 6 years, and a Model 3 was spotted in New Zealand! 

There are some new Model 3 photos which are pointing to 300+ mile range and a lot of interior details. Also, conference organizer, "Forth", recently helped to launch an electric car-sharing program for a low-income community in Portland, The Queen of England has made some very green announcements, and a certain little Nissan Leaf is going to do a 10,000 mile trip from the UK to Mongolia!
