Matthew has previously released on his own label and others like Side Off, and eloquently marries dub, techno and house into smooth and sensuous sonic landscapes. The opening track ‘Psycho Hub’ is an atmospheric and spacious roller with dubbed out drums and pads, coupled with incendiary hi hats urging you along. ‘Shroud’ is seven minutes of slick and spaced out deep techno with liquid synths and clacking hits all racing along and making for a frictionless groove that sucks you right in. Finally, ‘Get in the Fridge’ slows the tempo down and becomes an even more widescreen and roomy roller with suspensory pads, smeared synths and aqueous sonic details that make you feel like you are floating in sound.

It marks only the Dutchman’s third release—the second on his own label after an EP from Natan H—but is a truly deep and atmospheric offering that takes its cues from many different sounds and scenes. Opener 'Concealed' is a deep, firmly rooted techno cut that is hugely expansive and cavernous, with smeared pads stretching out in all directions. The drums are heavyweight and rumble down low as grainy, lo fi atmospherics suck you in up top. 'Exposed' is another insular and heady house roller, this time with dubby chords fleshing out the more bumpy groove. Carefully filtered pads pan around the space to add a sense of scale as you glide along, then '19_Eleven' burrows deep underground with soft but driving drums, a heavy autumnal fog and lingering pads all trapping you in Arnemann’s stoned, bleak yet somehow inviting world.

In the past Natan, born Jordan Hochenbaum, has released on ManMakeMusic and Finale Sessions as well as Altered Moods and favours a deep, absorbing house sound full of cosmic atmosphere. Opener 'Erklingen Dub' is a seriously widescreen bit of richly detailed dub with smeared chords, buried deep drums and warming sub bass all enveloping you in a hypnotic rhythm. 'Te Aro' is just as deep and absorbing, with vast but lazy house kicks rolling on beneath heavenly pads and gently tumbling drum hits. 'Submission' gets a little more upright but is still richly layered in lush, gloopy synths. 'Orthogonal' closes things out with an off-kilter, broken dub beat that is run through with static, hot cosmic winds and a certain sense of late night spirituality that will make any dance floor feel cosy and inviting.

After over six years in the Dutch techno scene Kevin Arnemann is beginning a new chapter in his career. In addition to his own productions, Taped Artifact will feature releases from a selection of artists that think outside the box and are not confined by genre. The main focus for this label is to allow the artists to focus on incorporating aesthetics with atmospheric and profound sounds that will capture the attention of listeners around the world. The first release comes from the young man Kevin Arnemann himself. His opener ‘Lumière’ is a robust dub techno cut full of atmosphere, lush open spaces and squelchy bass. ‘Røssaak’ is then a deep, involving track that opens on wide horizontal planes, with churning drums and icy hi hats, whilst ‘0011’ is even more striped back. Hugely textured and marbled with slithering pads, metallic little synth lines and spooky reverb, it’s a super heady, super slow motion techno trip. Known for his uncompromising techno sets, this release showcases Kevin’s deeper side by delivering three profound excursions.
