Reading of Diane Gilliam Fisher's "Explosion at Winco no. 9"
This poem is from Diane Gilliam Fisher's, Kettle Bottom, Perugia Press, 2004. I am sharing it out as an example of documentary poetry for learners in News Writing and Reporting Techniques. The poem includes a point of view and details that aren't often included in news stories, and makes the news hit deeper. This is important work journalists and poets! Here's to our learning!

Poem for Learners
43 seconds of praise for persisting as learners in fall 2020. The text is: For all of the learners flying out to the air from Texas to Taiwan to Japan and New York. We fly we sit we wait, for pandemica to lift, affecting all of us, the whole world over, in different ways from trees to mountains to seas. We are the bumble bees, taking to the streams and clover and water cups. Tiny toe sucking it up. We’ve lived through nuclear air, Hades ascent and furious fire. We’ve lived through shared breath. And still we’re here.
