That sounds harsh until you watch the pattern repeat itself over and over and over again. If they lose an election, the system is broken. If a court rules against them, the court is illegitimate. If constitutional checks prevent them from getting what they want immediately, then the checks themselves must be removed. Not debated. Removed. Which brings us to Virginia. Following the Virginia Supreme Court’s rejection of a Democrat-backed gerrymandering effort, voices on the Left are now openly floating ideas that amount to court-packing at the state level—expanding, restructuring, or politically purging the court itself because it refused to produce the preferred ideological outcome. Think about how insane that actually is. Not “we disagree with the ruling.” Not “we’d like to challenge the legal reasoning.” No. The reaction increasingly sounds like: “If the institution won’t obey us, we’ll replace the institution.” Jonathan Turley rightly pointed out the danger in this mentality. What’s especially revealing is how quickly national Democrats and activist voices moved toward the same familiar conclusion Americans have now watched for years: if constitutional structures stand in the way of progressive power, then constitutional structures themselves become the enemy. It rewrites the balance of power across two active conflict zones and two hostile regimes that have been leaning on China to survive. Start with Iran. The Iranian regime has been propped up economically by one primary customer—China. Discounted oil, shipped through shadow fleets, laundered through intermediaries, tolerated because Beijing needed the supply and didn’t mind the political friction. But that arrangement only works if China has no better option. Give China access to long-term American LNG at scale, and suddenly Iran goes from essential supplier to expendable risk. When people in positions of power constantly frame their opponents as existential threats or enemies, they aren’t calming anything down. They’re pouring fuel on it. That’s just reality. But instead of taking the hint—maybe dialing things back even a notch—House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries went the other direction entirely. He leaned in. “Maximum warfare,” he said. And if anyone was tempted to give him the benefit of the doubt—to assume he meant it in some careful, political, metaphorical way—he cleared that up himself. He doesn’t “give a damn.” Not about the criticism. Not about the concern. Not even about the fact that we’re living in a moment where political violence isn’t theoretical anymore. He said it anyway. And honestly, that tells you more than any press release ever could. Because this isn’t about one quote or one bad day. It’s about a mindset that’s taken hold in certain corners of our politics—a belief that the rules don’t really apply to them, that their words don’t carry consequences, that their cause is so righteous that anything they say in service of it is automatically justified. Military pressure intensified. Negotiations that had been quietly underway through intermediaries, such as Pakistan, stalled out. And then came the announcement that changed the entire equation: President Trump ordered a blockade of Iranian ports. That wasn’t just another move on the board. That was the board flipping over. Because if you trace the timeline honestly, the story becomes crystal clear. The United States applied decisive military pressure. Iran’s capabilities took a significant hit. Diplomatic channels opened—some of them quietly, some of them through regional partners trying to broker a way out. And then Iran did what it has done for decades. It stalled. It delayed. It rejected. They had a chance to de-escalate. They chose not to. And that choice is what made the blockade inevitable. Let’s be very clear about what this is—and what it isn’t. This is not escalation for the sake of escalation. This is not a march toward a drawn-out conflict. This is what happens when a regime is given an off-ramp and refuses to take it. You don’t keep offering the same exit indefinitely. At some point, you change the pressure. That’s exactly what just happened. A blockade is not symbolic. It is one of the most concrete, immediate forms of leverage a nation can apply short of full-scale war. It doesn’t ask for compliance—it enforces consequences. And in Iran’s case, those consequences strike at the heart of how the regime survives. Ports are not just entry and exit points. They are economic lifelines. Oil exports flow through them. Sanctions are evaded through them. Weapons and materials move through them. Revenue—desperately needed revenue—depends on them. Cut that off, and you don’t just inconvenience the regime. But because it’s so painfully obvious. The question at hand is simple: Should ballots that arrive after Election Day be counted? Pause there. Read that again. Not ballots cast late. Not ballots discovered later. Not ballots “found” in the back of a truck three days after the fact. Ballots that show up after the election is over. And somehow—somehow—this is controversial. The Supreme Court’s conservative majority is signaling what every rational American already knows: Election Day should mean… Election Day. Revolutionary concept, I know. But let’s unpack what’s really happening here—because this moment matters far beyond one case in Mississippi. It goes to the very heart of whether we are serious about election integrity or just pretending to be. At issue is a law that allows ballots to be counted up to five days after Election Day as long as they’re postmarked on time. Sounds harmless, right? Until you think about what that actually does to an election. It stretches “Election Day” into “Election Week.” Or “Election Month.” Or, if we’re being honest, into a moving target where outcomes can shift long after votes are supposedly finalized. Even the justices picked up on this. Justice Samuel Alito warned that public confidence can be “seriously undermined” when results flip due to late-arriving ballots.  Translation: when Americans go to bed thinking one candidate won, and wake up days later with a different result, trust evaporates. And trust—not turnout, not convenience, not even speed—is the currency of democracy. And yet somehow the national media still pretends there is no pattern. No ideology. No cause. Just isolated “incidents.” But Americans are not stupid. They can see what is happening. They can also see something else: the ideology behind these attacks is collapsing globally, and that collapse is making its adherents increasingly desperate. That reality is playing out on two stages simultaneously — abroad and at home. While the threats increase, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been left operating without full funding after congressional Democrats refused to support immigration enforcement reforms tied to the funding package. That decision matters. Because border security, counterterrorism intelligence, and domestic threat monitoring all fall under DHS jurisdiction. Weakening the agency responsible for protecting Americans in the middle of a growing global conflict is not merely irresponsible. It is dangerous.
