    Market Update - March 2026

Joe Barry, founder of Barry Investment Advisors, explains that markets may appear calm at a glance, but the quarter has been volatile beneath the surface due to geopolitical tensions and rising uncertainty. In response, portfolios have shifted more defensively with increased cash and reduced exposure to longer-term bonds amid persistent inflation and higher rates. Despite short-term swings, the focus remains on long-term positioning with global diversification, natural resources, and liquidity for future opportunities.

    Market Update - January 2026

As 2025 comes to a close, Joe Barry reflects on a remarkable year across global markets. From U.S. equities finishing near all time highs to standout performance in gold, natural resources, and international markets, this update explores how leadership may be shifting away from an increasingly expensive U.S. market toward more attractively valued opportunities abroad. Joe also walks through the importance of disciplined asset allocation after an unusually strong run in precious metals, explains how Barry plans to manage risk through thoughtful rebalancing in 2026, and highlights tax aware strategies including ETF tax loss harvesting and donor advised gift funds. The episode closes with a timely reminder that strong markets can create powerful opportunities for both prudent planning and meaningful giving as we head into the new year.

  3. 43

Gold's Role in a World of Rising Markets

In this brief market update, Barry Investment Advisors' founder, Joseph Barry, discusses recent movements in the gold market and why the metal remains an essential part of a diversified portfolio. While gold prices have surged alongside other assets this year, Joe explains how profit-taking and short-term volatility can emerge even when the long-term fundamentals remain strong. From record earnings among gold miners to central banks diversifying away from the U.S. dollar, this episode offers valuable perspective on why gold continues to play a stabilizing role when traditional markets face turbulence.

Cutting Through the Noise in Q3

Sometimes investing feels like detective work. In this quarter's market update, Barry Investment Advisors' Tyler Craig, CFA, follows the breadcrumbs across growth, inflation, and innovation to uncover what's really driving the markets. From a resilient consumer and shifting inflation pressures to the Federal Reserve's delicate balancing act, this episode breaks down the competing narratives shaping Q3. We also explore how the AI boom and a weakening dollar are reshaping global markets, why commodities are quietly outperforming tech, and what that could mean for investors heading into year-end.

  5. 41

Cutting Through the Noise in Q2

In this episode, Barry Investment Advisors' Tyler Craig, CFA unpacks the surprising strength in markets despite rising global tensions, persistent inflationary pressures, and ongoing political uncertainty. From meme stock surges to record-breaking performance in gold mining stocks, we explore what's fueling the latest rally and question whether it rests on solid ground. We also take a closer look at the effects of tariffs, the dip in consumer confidence, and the potential shift in global equity leadership. You'll hear why a weaker dollar, geopolitical fragmentation, and structural inflation could play a major role in shaping investment trends in the months ahead. If you are wondering how these developments might impact your financial plan, or are curious about opportunities in gold, commodities, or international markets, this conversation offers perspective and clarity on the road ahead.   Barry Investment Advisors ("BIA") is an SEC registered investment adviser.
