The Bridge Brothers Presents...

Matt and Nick Homer are back for the upcoming football season with two new football podcasts, The Bridge Brothers Podcast and FPL Bridge Brothers. The first of these is an irreverent take on weekly football stories where we cover topics such as non-league, EFL, the Premier League, WSL and much more. Our second show continues our Fantasy Premier League journey as initially documented in our podcast FPL Pod VS Tok, but is a more focused and streamlined show which follows the lads' journey as they continue to out-do each other in their mini-leagues and cup competitions. So welcome aboard for our two new shows! We cannot wait to get started! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Victory for VAR-senal and a Heart Felt Goodbye to Aerial Fantasy WSL...

The long and winding road that is this season's Premier League and, by extension, FPL is coming to an end. But with 2 more game weeks to go, the Brothers discuss their performances in double game week 36, (which was still ongoing at the time of recording), as well as their plans to finish with a flourish as the end of another campaign draws near. While the Prem is in its penultimate week, the WSL heads towards its last game. Unlike the well heeled and well sponsored FPL app, the women's game needs to contemplate life without fantasy football with Aerial FWSL bidding farewell to its many players after game week 22.So it for one last time, the FWSL deadline and joining code is as follows...Saturday the 16th of May at 12:00 FKWAXXFor the money bags Premier League and FPL, the penultimate FPL deadline and joining code is...Friday the 15th of May at 18:30. Score a Hat Trick or Stay Home...

"Score a hat trick or go home" is a phrase that we use referencing Aston Villa's Anna Patten with Matt hoping for a brilliant performance from her to continue his good Fantasy WSL season. However, we could also use it towards Nick who is lacing up his boots again as part of AFC Croydon's What a Life Cup and is fundraiser to improve youth facilities for the next generation of footballing talent. The Brothers also discuss whether Nick qualifies as a celebrity by virtue as co-presenter of this very podcast! If you're interested in attending and raising money for a good cause, more details can be found below...AFC Croydon WebsiteSpeaking of "this very podcast," the lads review their game week 35 performances and ask the question: "can Matt continue his good form now he has used up all his chips?"The chaps also share their FPL plans with Matt considering bringing in Saka and Nick deciding on "the tragic end of Igor Thiago" as he contemplates whether to transfer out the Brentford talisman. Things are a lot more interesting in Fantasy WSL, as the Bridge Brothers contend with Arsenal's triple game week as well as playing their respective chips ahead of the last game week of the season and, very sadly, the last ever game week for Aerial Fantasy WSL. Reviewing A Busy News Week for CFC.

It's been quite the week in the news for Chelsea FC. An insipid defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion was followed by the dismissal of Manager Liam Rosenior, all amongst increasing fan unrest at the BlueCo ownership. Fast forward to Sunday and the men's seniors, under the guidance of former Croydon FC and AFC Whyteleaf coach Callum Macfarlane, defeated age old rivals Leeds United to book their place in the FA Cup final. It's a funny ol' game sometimes! The Bridge Brothers talk about all of this as well as the Chelsea Women's 4-1 victory over Everton at Goodison as well as some Beyond the Bridge discussion surrounding AFC Croydon who reached the Isthmian South-East Play-off Final. If successful, they will seal promotion to the Isthmian Premier where they could play Matt's local non-league team AFC Whitehawk as well as Lewes FC.If you like to join the conversation, you can so do via the following ways...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue SkyX (mainly known as Twitter)Thanks as ever to Shane speed, aka Sea of Days, for his music for the podcast.Bye for now!Matt and Nick. The Bridge Brothers would also like to take this opportunity to state that all material in this podcast is the property of Matt and Nick Homer and we do not authorise the use of our show to train or be used in anyway by AI. FPL Chips Reflection and a Triple WSL Game Week.

With Matt having now exhausted all his chips in this season's FPL, the older Bridge Brother reflects, (in true Pep Guardiola style), on what went well and would could have been better. With Nick still having his bench boost and triple captain to play, is there still one last twist in battle for sibling supremacy. While Matt talks about his relief that all he needs to do is play one transfer in FPL this week, things are not so simple when it comes to Aerial WSL with the lads having a good few chips to play with only three games remaining. There is also, of course, the small matter of a triple game week for Arsenal. With other musings and reflections, including the Brothers' experience of interacting with the lovely people behind the Aerial WSL app, things are getting exciting as we head towards the business end of the football season.Game deadlines and codes are as follows...FPL: Game week 35: Friday the 1st of May at 18:30. "It Can't Go On Like This, Can It?"

Recorded ahead of Chelsea's 3-0 defeat to Brighton and Liam Rosenior's, somewhat inevitable departure at Stamford Bridge, Matt and Nick lament the Blue's Saturday defeat against Manchester United. It sees that Brothers compare the two teams, (United and Chelsea), both with similar dilemmas, yet the Red Devils seem to be getting the results in the Premier League.Nick addresses the issues at the heart of Chelsea's poor performances on the pitch and talks about these in the context of wider issues in the beautiful game.Matt on the other hand tries his best to be coherent as he deals with an April cold.If you like to join the conversation, you can so do via the following ways...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue SkyX (mainly known as Twitter)Thanks as ever to Shane speed, aka Sea of Days, for his music for the podcast.Bye for now!Matt and Nick. The Bridge Brothers would also like to take this opportunity to state that all material in this podcast is the property of Matt and Nick Homer and we do not authorise the use of our show to train or be used in anyway by AI. The Brothers [Correctly] Predict Another Chelsea Capitulation at Brighton

Recorded on Monday, Matt and Nick's assessment about the performance of their Chelsea assets in FPL was massively tempered by the fact that they felt that their beloved club would be soundly defeated at the Amex by Brighton and Hove Albion. Nick referred to it, in advance we should say, as a "blood bath at Brighton."With us releasing this on Thursday, ahead of the FPL deadline, this all seems pretty accurate with Chelsea offering up one of their worst performances in memory which was swiftly following by the sacking of the manager Liam Rosenior. But, anyway, back to FPL. Alongside discussing why it is foolish to look at Chelsea players in the game, (even though we still do for some reason), the lads review their double game week performances so far as well as what players Matt should look at when it comes to the big blank in game week 34.The Brothers also prepare their FWSL teams for the return of the Women's Super League and with fixtures moving and doubles and even trebles being on the cards, there's a lot to keep on top of as we head into the last few games of the season. Game deadlines and codes are as follows...FPL: Game week 34: Friday the 24th of April at 18:30. Double FA Cup Glory, But Premier League Problems Persist for Chelsea

Matt and Nick start the episode with chat about AFC Croydon and AFC Wimbledon's run of results as well as Chelsea's under 21s progressing in the Premier League 2 competition, anything is better than talking about the senior men's squad right now. With that in mind, the lads start by recapping their recent visit to Kings Meadow to see Chelsea Women defeat a resilient Tottenham 2-1 in the quarter final of the FA Cup. Alongside securing Chelsea's progress into the semis, the game not going to extra time meant that Nick could get his shopping at a local Korean super-market!Clips in this episode are all from this day out and capture our experiences of the day. With a degree of resignation, the chaps went on to talk about Chelsea's 7-0 mauling of Port Vale, (Rosenior would make a good League One manager), to their latest 3-0 defeat in the Premier League, this time at the hands of Manchester City.Like Chelsea men, Matt was also not on top form, as he was suffering a cold, but hopefully normal service will be resumed in time for next week.If you like to join the conversation, you can so do via the following ways...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue SkyX (mainly known as Twitter)Thanks as ever to Shane speed, aka Sea of Days, for his music for the podcast.Bye for now!Matt and Nick. The Bridge Brothers would also like to take this opportunity to state that all material in this podcast is the property of Matt and Nick Homer and we do not authorise the use of our show to train or be used in anyway by AI. A Wildcard is For Life...

Matt and Nick return for FPL Bridge Brothers episode 29 and the conversation focuses on GW 32 wildcard choices as well as chip usage for double game week 33 and the blank in 34.With the Bridge Brothers continuing to compete against each other the question remains, will Matt's double game week obsession come good, or will Nick's free hit strategy prove to be a genius move? The chaps sign-post to more WSL chat in future game weeks, but the Bundesliga side FC Union Berlin's appointment of Marie-Louise Eta gets the lads talking about how good the Chelsea men's squad would be if Sonia Bompastor or the managerial legend that is Emma Hayes took charge.Game deadlines and codes are as follows...FPL: Game week 32: Saturday the 18th of April at 11:00. Draw at the Den, Paris Analysis and Toffees Trouble

Despite decent good results for our teams beyond the bridge, it's been another difficult week for Chelsea, this time for our men and women's sides. The Bridge Brothers start with an analysis of Chelsea's 1-1 draw against London City Lionesses in the WSL. The blues' UCL ambitions have been dented at the Den by LCL.We then move from Nikita Parris to Paris Saint Germain with the French Champions taking another opportunity to thrash Chelsea in the men's Champions League. It didn't get any better for Liam Rosenior's charges with another 3-0 humiliation a few days later, this time at the hands of Everton. This prompts discussion of the joint BlueCo Out protests from Chelsea and Strasbourg fans this coming April, (the 18th to be precise), and Nick's frustration at Liam Rosenior who he does not think is good enough to be Chelsea manager. In an effort to cheer ourselves up, there is Alan Shearer chat alongside a coupe of other tangents along the way.The lads also finish the podcast by paying tribute to former Chelsea goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro, who sadly passed away at the age of 67.If you like to join the conversation, you can so do via the following ways...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue SkyX (mainly known as Twitter)Thanks as ever to Shane speed, aka Sea of Days, for his music for the podcast.By for now!Matt and Nick. An FPL Hiatus and a Big Week for FWSL!

The lads reflect on their game week 31 performances and start making plans ahead of the game week 32, despite the international break and FA Cup fixtures taking place ahead of then. With the Premier League not back until April 10th, it's all about the WSL with the lads sharing their plans for Aerial Fantasy as Matt tries to consolidate his lead in the Bridge Brothers league and Nick looking to cause an upset with his own team finding form.Matt and Nick will also be cheering on the Chelsea Women's side in person for the FA Cup game against Tottenham and we'll feature clips of that game in a forthcoming show.Game deadlines and codes are as follows...FPL: Game week 32: Friday the 10th of April at 18:30. League Cup Joy, Paris Pain and Magpies Sorrow

Matt and Nick tore up the script, at least partially this week, to discuss the Premier League punishment meted out to Chelsea FC. They talk the listeners through the ruling and give their take on it.Things aren't much better on the pitch for the Chelsea senior men's side as the lads talk about the Blues' 5-2 defeat away to Paris Saint Germain, (this was recorded before the 3-0 humbling at Stamford Bridge), and the home defeat to Newcastle.Thank goodness for Chelsea Women, Sonia Bompastor's team triumphed 2-0 over Marc Skinner's Manchester United. It is fair to say that Nick was not best pleased with the Red Devil's Manager's comments after the match. The Brothers finish the show by paying respects to the families of Amy Carr and Amelia Aplin, who were both goalkeepers. Amy Carr, who played for Chelsea, Arsenal, Reading and England at youth level, died at 35 after a battle with a brain tumour. Amelia played for Oxford and died after collapsing during a Junior Premier League game for Oxford United. We also send our condolences to former Blue Thiago Silva, who sadly lost his mother Angela Maria last week.If you like to join the conversation, you can so do via the following ways...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue SkyX (mainly known as Twitter)Thanks as ever to Shane speed, aka Sea of Days, for his music for the podcast.By for now!Matt and Nick. Tactics, Transfers and Staying The Right Side of Weird...

In episode 28, The Bridge Brothers take stock of contrasting FPL fortunes. Matt's team, albeit slowly down, is still riding a tide of green arrows, whilst Nick is finding a way to kick start his season. Despite Matt's good form, he does have Manchester City and Arsenal players that he needs to bench for their blank in game week 31. However, he has since realised that, instead of selling Marc Guéhi like he says on the pod, he can bench all these players if he choses to.The elder of the sibling's luck seems to be in as, despite missing the deadline to make his changes, he still got a good score, mainly courtesy of Tottenham's Signe Gauspet coming off the bench to claim 17 points. With the lads in attendance at King's Meadow for Chelsea's game against Spurs, Matt does declare that he would like to say thanks to Gauspet for saving his game week despite his deadline incompetence, but wonders if this would see him stray beyond the right side of weird!Nick also had some success by playing the wall chip which means there is still a chance he could sail up The Bridge Brothers WSL league. Game deadlines and codes are as follows...FPL: Game week 31: Friday the 20th of March at 18:30. Blank Game Weeks and an Aerial WSL Lament

Matt is riding on the crest of a green arrow wave as the Bridge Brothers sail into episode 27. The question is whether he can keep the good momentum going with blank game weeks on the horizon. A good chip strategy will be needed. When it comes to the young of the two siblings, Nick's charges need to re-discover their form if they want to finish strongly and ensure that the younger of the siblings doesn't decide to retire from the game completely next season.Alongside sharing their FPL experiences and advice, Matt and Nick also turn their attention to the Women's game with the WSL returning this weekend. It is a bittersweet feeling with the news that the Aerial Fantasy game will be discontinued after this season. Reflecting on this story, the Brothers reflect on how integral the game has been when it comes to improving their WSL knowledge as well as how invaluable it is for women's football in the UK too.The chaps are hoping that someone can sweep in and save the much loved Aerial WSL, but if indeed this is the last season we play it, game weeks and codes for the upcoming fixtures are included below...FWSL, Game Week 17: Sunday the 15th of March at 11:00 (Mother’s Day). Victory over Villains and an FA Cup Wrexit!

With a 4-1 win over Aston Villa and a 2-4 victory over Wrexham, it's dreamland for The Bridge Brothers as the Chelsea men head to Paris. As you'll find in next week's show, those dreams were ended at the Parc des Princes, but we'll stay upbeat for now. With Chelsea looking better in the Premier League, the chat includes references to "new R9 elect" Jõao Pedro, goalkeeper dilemmas, squad selection, controversial centre circle huddles and, of course, VAR. The Video Assistant Referee was actually on the Blues' side for the two games covered this week. When it comes to Wrexham, Nick takes a dim view of the BBC's Rob and Ryan love-in and what the financial model of the Red Dragons means for the English football pyramid. As a big Welcome to Wrexham fan, Matt does his best to air a different point of view.If you like to join the conversation, you can so do via the following ways...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue SkyX (mainly known as Twitter)Thanks as ever to Shane speed, aka Sea of Days, for his music for the podcast. Please also check out the latest episode of Matt's other podcast, Homer's Podyssey: Conversations on Purpose, where he speaks to the theatre maker, producer, beatboxer and writer, Mr Conrad Murray.Á Bientôt!Matt and Nick. Blues Must add Defending and Discipline to their Arsenal.

The "Blues Must add Defending and Discipline to their Arsenal" and, thankfully, in their following Premier League game they did when it came to the 4-1 victory against Aston Villa. However, in this episode of The Bridge Brothers Podcast, which was recorded after the defeat to Arsenal, the lads lament more bad set piece defending and red cards which have hampered Chelsea in their bid to be challengers to the Premier League title. The lads talk the inexperience of youth, managerial puppets and frustrations around the ownership model. They also look forward to the FA Cup game against Wrexham, in the "who can buy titles derby," as well as the game against PSG. Burnley draw Claret from the Blues.

In a slight change to our format, the Bridge Brothers are going back to their Chelsea roots and focusing on all things Blue, including the under 18s 3-0 victory against Southampton, the Women's fantastic FA Cup victory over Manchester United and, (perhaps less enthusiastically), the Chelsea men's senior team 1-1 home draw with Burnley. And it is this game against the Clarets that the lads focus on which brings up topics such as team discipline, inexperience, defending set-pieces and the future of players such as Liam Delap. Should Nicolas Jackson come in and get his place back from him?We also declare an emphatic no when it comes to the racist abuse experienced by Chelsea's Wesley Fofana. As Nick says, there is no place for discrimination in society and certainly not on the Bridge Brothers Podcast. One correction to add is that Matt mentioned Strasbourg won 3-0 against Lyon, whereas the final score was in fact 3-1.Thanks as ever to Shane speed, aka Sea of Days, for his music for the podcast. The Point(s) of No Return

In episode 26, Matt and Nick lament another tough game week with both siblings praying for strong performances from Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo in Manchester United's game against Everton.Perhaps ironically, it is the Chelsea triple-up which has been at the centre of the Bridge Brothers' anguish which leads Matt to conclude that he needs to trust his gut more when it comes to playing FPL. There's props for Fulham, consensus about "Doctor" Tottenham being a team to target and a bit of pizza chat thrown in for good measure. If you fancy your chances against the lads, the game week deadlines and league codes are included below.FWSL, Game Week 17: Sunday the 15th of March at 11:00 (Mother’s Day). It's episode 25 and Matt and Nick return with tales of a mixed game week 26. At the time of recording, Matt was holding out hope that Gabriel would make his dreams come true in Arsenal's away game against Wolves after he triple captained the defender. *Spoiler, he didn't!With the elder of the siblings left wondering what could have been, Nick is wringing the changes for game week 27 as the Bridge Brothers go again in their FPL adventure. It's better news for Matt in WSL as some good fortune sees him continue to dominate the Brothers' Aerial WSL league. If you fancy your chances against the lads, the game week deadlines and league codes are included below.FWSL, Game Week 17: Sunday the 15th of March at 11:00 (Mother’s Day). After offering his admin services to help with Crystal Palace's poor record of paperwork, Matt starts this week's topic which is..."Is the future bright for Chelsea women?"This question is off the back of a much needed win for the Blues who beat Tottenham away 2-0, all under the watchful gaze of the home fans, our travelling supporters and pop superstar Madonna! With there being a number of NBA Star Giannis Antetokounmpo joining Alexis Ohanian's investment group and the Head of Women's Football Paul Green departing, the Bridge Brothers ask what the future has in store for the club and whether we should be worried about being priced out when it comes to following the women's senior team too?As ever, you can also join the conversation via any, or all, of the following platforms...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue SkyX (mainly known as Twitter)The songs used in this podcast are Duality and Where Do I Begin? by the always amazing Sea of Days. Please also check out the latest episode of Matt's other podcast, Homer's Podyssey: Conversations on Purpose, where he speaks to the theatre maker, producer, beatboxer and writer, Mr Conrad Murray.A la prochaine!Matt and Nick. All Aboard for FWSL Game Week 16

Matt and Nick are in the thick of the action as this week episode starts as game week 26 begins. While we spoke about this double game week on the last show, the lads reveal their squad choices for the latest Premier League run-in as well as discuss their performances from 25. It's steady progress for Matt, (aka the over-thinker tinker-man), but Nick needs to stop the rot with his charges struggling for another round of fixtures. With Matt triple captaining Arsenal's Gabriel and Nick making some shrewd tactical moves, will the brothers be swimming in green arrows or crashing through the leagues in a sea of red? With the FA Cup taking over next week in the men's game, there is more time to talk Fantasy WSL with Matt continuing to lead the Bridge Brothers League although Nick's team continues to perform well in what is the brothers' apprenticeship season in the game.Like Madonna, who was there to see Spurs VS Chelsea in the WSL last week, you can "get into the groove" and join our leagues and compete agains us. Is this the end of the era for the Chelsea Women’s Team?

With defeats for AFC Croydon against Margate and AFC Wimbledon losing to Bolton Wanderers, it was the Chelsea men's team that lifted the spirits of The Bridge Brothers with their 3-2 come back victory against West Ham. But the lads were bought back down to earth with Chelsea Women's devastating 5-1 defeat away to Manchester City at the Etihad. The lads talk about this as well as Blues' 2-0 WSL defeat at home to Arsenal as they ask...Is this the end of the era for the Chelsea Women’s Team?Amongst the discussion is the future of Bompastor, (will she win Chelsea their first Champions League), the form of key players such as Bright, Kerr and Cuthbert and whether the West London team's poor recent results and dip in performances is actually good news for the WSL.We also briefly discuss the proposed move of the Chelsea women's team to AFC Wimbledon's home ground, the Cherry Red Records Stadium (aka Plough Lane), and whether this will be a good deal for both clubs. "Death, taxes and leaving your best players on the bench..."

In a role reversal, Matt has had a good week in FPL with Nick unusually not meeting the high standards that he has set himself. Will things change in game week 25?The chaps discuss goal-keeper choices, a West Ham revival and whether the Black Cats of Sunderland are largely fixture-proof when it comes to Fantasy Premier League.Matt's good fantasy football week continued in that he is now top of the Bridge Brothers' mini-est of mini-leagues, (you can find out how to compete against us below). He would have possibly beaten Nick's better score this week had he not benched Olivia Godfrey's 11 points. To refer to Oscar Wilde, the consistencies in life are: "death, taxes and Matt leaving his better performing players on the bench."As ever, the game week deadlines for FPL and FWSL are included below, as well as the joining codes for our mini-leagues. Back to the Future

The Bridge Brothers begin by asking what inspired a mystery FPL player to captain Patric Dorgu in Manchester United's 2-0 Victory over Man City? Did he have a Biff style sporting almanac? When it comes to their teams, Matt changes the subject as much as he can instead of talking about his side's performance and this leads the brothers to speak about last weekend's AFCON Final between Morocco and Senegal.Coming back to all things Fantasy, Nick is again making the changes and it looks like Saka is on his way out of his side. Matt also gleans his brothers' knowledge to improve his own fortunes. With the lads back at Stamford Bridge this Saturday to watch Chelsea V Arsenal in the WSL, the chat turns to the Aerial app and their decisions for Fantasy Women's Super League. Will Matt go with Borbe in goal against his beloved Blues?Apologies too in that, while advocating for Liverpool's Women's team, Matt refers to Red's boss Gareth Taylor as Gareth Evans. As you'll hear, it wasn't his day for WSL manager's names this week.Nick also tries his hand at a new catch phrase for the pod. This week's deadlines and league joining codes are included below...FWSL, Game Week 13: Friday the 23rd of January at 18:00. What are our expectations for new Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior?

After a run-down of a mixed bag of results for Croydon's football teams, most notably Crystal Palace's dismal defence of the FA Cup, the lads go back to the subject of Chelsea FC and discuss what they can expect from new Head Coach Liam Rosenior. While generally positive, the Bridge Brothers return to the subject of multi-club ownership and agree that Racing Club de Strasbourg's fans must be furious by the way the BlueCo group have treated them and their club. This leads Nick to state that if Gary O'Neil takes charge of Chelsea in two years time after Liam Rosenior becomes tired of being a "grateful puppet," he may just instate AFC Croydon as his one and only football club. Maybe the pod then needs to change its name to the "Mayfield Maestros"?As ever, you can also join the conversation via any, or all, of the following platforms...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue SkyX (mainly known as Twitter)The songs used in this podcast are Duality and Where Do I Begin? by the always amazing Sea of Days. Please also check out the latest episode of Matt's other podcast, Homer's Podyssey: Conversations on Purpose, where he speaks to the theatre maker, producer, beatboxer and writer, Mr Conrad Murray.See you soon!Matt and Nick. Things Can Only Get Beata…

Nick consoles Matt after another poor performance from his charges and gives him some much needed advice on how to improve his team for game week 22.There's also mutual frustration regarding West Ham's FPL and FWSL assets and Nick makes his pitch to be the number one fan in the Caoimhin Kelleher fan club. With both brothers on "glorious and fantastic" podcast form, Matt finishes the pod on a brighter note as he shares his excitement surrounding his strong Fantasy WSL team with the brothers looking forward to seeing their beloved Chelsea take on Arsenal in game week 13.As ever, the game week deadlines for FPL and FWSL are included below, as well as the codes if you fancy your chances against the Bridge Brothers. Festive Pressure in FPL and FWSL Reflections...

After another poor game week, there is pressure on Matt and his FPL team as some incorrect 50/50 decisions seems him slide further down the league tables. One of his new years' resolutions has to be to stop benching his better players. Nick on the other hand is riding the crest of a wave and benefited from his accidental wildcard.Looking forward, it's now or never for Matt's bench boost as the brothers talk about their plans for game weeks 18 and 19. Nick, conversely, is looking to remove Brentford's Igor Thiago whose form has been very disappointing of late.Matt and Nick finish the show with by reviewing their Fantasy WSL season so far. Following on from our Bridge Brothers World Cup episode, (a performance piece rather than a podcast), the brothers are back to talk all things FPL.There's game week 16 analysis as well as transfer chat, accidental free hits and Matt's long awaited bench boost plan! The lads also float the idea of a "Investor Chip" where you only know which potential owner you have been allocated once you play it. Will you get a billionaire Dubai based group, or Mike Ashley? But the FPL battle between the Bridge Brothers continues, will Matt end his slump or will Nick be hoisted "on a Scouse petard"? After discussing good results for the AFC Croydon, the Chelsea men and women's sides and AFC Wimbledon who drew with Shane's (aka Sea of Days) very own Mansfield Team; the lads get stuck into the FIFA World Cup, particularly the obscene ticket prices. As ever in these chats, we cover a lot of ground with Nick lamenting how the game has been lost to big money and that he will quite happily sleep through FIFA's flagship tournament which is hosted in the US, Canada and Mexico. Arguably, Matt should have picked a gentler subject given his brother's personal frustrations about his washing machine breaking down just before we started recording.American listeners may, especially, want to join in the discussion with this edition's show questioning if the World Cup should have returned stateside after 32 years.InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue Sky X (mainly known as Twitter)The song used in this podcast is Duality by the always amazing Sea of Days. How Should Clubs Manage Their Iconic Players?

We open the show with Nick talking about the AFC Croydon Christmas party, the club's recent victory over East Grinstead and how, as a new Rams Ultra, he is creating new chants at the Mayfield Stadium! The lads then turn their attention to the end of Chelsea Women's 585 day unbeaten streak with a 1-0 defeat to Everton. As Nick says, "Chelsea didn't have the teeth for the Toffees." However, like Blues Legend Lucy Bronze, Matt and Nick are philosophical about the loss as, amongst other things, it shows that the Women's Super League is becoming more competitive. We then come to our question of the week which, in the aftermath of Mo Salah's media outburst after Liverpool's 3-3 draw with Leeds, we ask..."how should clubs manage their iconic players once they are no longer automatic picks in the starting 11?"As ever, you can join the debate in the following ways...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue Sky X (mainly known as Twitter)Please do comment, like, review and share the show to as many people as you possibly can!The songs used in this podcast are Duality and Where Do I Begin by the always amazing Sea of Days. The Bridge Brothers are back and begin the show discussing AFC Croydon's 3-1 win over Hassocks FC followed by their visit to Stamford Bridge to watch the 1-1 draw between Chelsea and Barcelona in the Women's Champions League. This episode also contains highlights of that match.Matt and Nick use the second half of this episode to answer the question: Were Premier League kit sponsors in the 90s better than they are now? This was inspired by Matt's time at a 90s themed birthday party and sees the lads discuss the likes of Chelsea's partnerships with Coors and Autoglass, Liverpool with Carlsberg, Arsenal with JVC, Aston Villa with Muller and much more besides. If you can think of any iconic club and sponsor partnerships, you can get in touch via the following ways...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue Sky X (mainly known as Twitter)Please do comment, like, review and share the show to as many people as you possibly can!The songs used in this podcast are Duality and Where Do I Begin by the always amazing Sea of Days. After seeing Chelsea V London City Lionesses as part of Nick's birthday celebrations, the lads reflect on their positive match day experience and how this was massively enhanced by the great vibes courtesy of Chelsea Super Fan Basil Goode. This inspires the brothers to answer this week's question which is: "How can and do fans make a difference to their football teams?"We talk Chelsea, of course, Wimbledon, Sheffield Wednesday and Portsmouth. There is also some tangental spider chat along as the podcast is interrupted by an eight-legged visitor. In what is a somewhat surprising turn for The Bridge Brothers podcast, Nick pays tribute to Nottingham Forest owner who has offered to pay for the medical bills of the victims of the Huntingdon train stabbing. Back with a Bang!

There's significant improvement for the Bridge Brothers' teams in game week 10, even if Matt does continue to leave loads of points on his bench. With birthday boy Nick flying high there are little, if any changes needed for his FPL Team. However, Matt has a Reijnders shaped problem. Will it be Saka for Rice, then a Reijnders upgrade, or should Matt go with Nick's tip of bringing in Sessegnon as a like for like replacement? Guess we will wait and see. The Bridge Brothers Have An FPL Horror Show!

After a horrific game week 9, The Bridge Brothers try and dust themselves off and go ahead for game week 10.The lads recount the terrors of the last game week with Matt paying for not using his bench boost, (Van de Venn's 23 points didn't look so nice sitting on his bench), and Nick didn't make the changes he intended and which would have kept the green arrows flying high. Hopefully there won't be any more own ghouls, I mean, goals from the brothers going forward. The WSL also returns this Halloween weekend with Matt and Nick going to Stamford Bridge to see the mighty Chelsea take on London City Lionesses. Why Do We Keep Coming Back For More?

In a week that saw Chelsea lose to Sunderland, AFC Croydon defeated by Herne Bay, AFC Wimbledon beaten by Burton Albion and the Lionesses tamed by Brazil; Matt and Nick ask the following question..."Why do we keep coming back to watch our teams?"Despite the results mentioned above, this question was largely inspired by West Ham's defeat in Yorkshire last week against Leeds with the Hammers fans still following their team through what is looking like a dismal season. Our chat not only covers our memories of watching Chelsea, but also our thoughts on AFC Croydon, AFC Wimbledon's Phoenix-like resurrection after Wimbledon FC was sold down the river to become MK Dons, Sheffield Wednesday fans getting their club back and Cardiff's brief transformation from Blue Birds to Red Dragons at the hands of owner Vincent Tan.Matt also asks the controversial question as to whether he should switch his MLS allegiances from LA Galaxy to Vancouver Whitecaps. For Nick, it's all about New England Revolution. You can join us in this debate via the platforms below, or contact us to suggest your own topic...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue Sky X (mainly known as Twitter)Please do comment, like, review and share the show to as many people as you possibly can!The songs used in this podcast are Duality and Where Do I Begin by the always amazing Sea of Days. “Should Premier League Managers generally be Given More Time?”

In episode 11 of The Bridge Brothers podcast recorded on Monday the 20th of October, Matt and Nick ask the question: “Should Premier League Managers generally be Given More Time?”This question was inspired by Nottingham Forest's sacking of Ange Postecoglou after just 39 games. Ahead of our discussion, Nick mentions the now well known stat that in the time it takes to get from the UK to Australia, Ange could watch all of his games on the flight home as well as all three Crocodile Dundee films.Had we not experienced some technical issues with this episode, we could have discussed that statistic ahead of our rivals, but we did also talk about how far Pep Guardiola could travel in space if he watched every Man City game in his 9 year tenure at the club. Let's find a podcast that could do that! Check out this episode for the answer.Otherwise, we chat about the troubles at Forest, reflect on Chelsea's own revolving managerial door and also discuss the fact that these coaches are also human beings with professional pride and emotions. João Gyökeres

In episode 12, Matt and Nick look to build on their respective impressive performances in FPL by making some minor adjustments to their teams. Matt is thinking of reinvesting the money from the sale of Mo Salah towards a, hopefully, more prolific striker and Nick is pondering what to do with the under performing Phil Foden in his midfield. Speaking of strikers, Matt could be tempted to sign another famous "Nick" in Nick Woltemade, or should he get Crystal Palace's in form Jean Phillips Mateta? Nick Homer, on the other hand, is ruing his signing of João Pedro and Viktor Gyökeres who, despite their early hype, are still yet to take the 25/26 season by storm. Welcome Back FPL and See You Soon FWSL!

With the men's international break coming to an end and the women's just beginning, the brothers Bridge look ahead to Premier League game week 8 to build on their success and take stock of their FWSL performances after game week 6.Nick hosts another exciting edition of FPL Bridge Brothers and with Matt wondering where to invest his £4m+ from his sale of Mo Salah, it's just some minor tweaks for the younger sibling whose FPL season is going from strength to strength. Matt tries his best to find out his secrets, but Nick is keeping his new routine to himself, but still sharing his advice and experience to benefit the listeners. There's also the usual tangental chat as the lads talk about rumours of Sean Dyche taking over at Nottingham Forest and dream scenarios of the former Burnley man being in charge of Real Madrid. Now that would be something! We also have plenty of WSL chat with Matt and Nick talking about the rise of Tottenham under Martin Ho and the rise of London City Lionesses, a game that the chaps will be attending in person at the beginning of next month.Clips featured in this episode come from our match day experience of the Chelsea V Liverpool Legends match on the 11th of October 2025.You can engage and contact us via the platforms below...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue Sky X (mainly known as Twitter)And when it comes to Fantasy leagues and codes, you can play FPL against us via the code BN59SG. Why Do We Love a Chelsea Legends Match?

Matt and Nick take to the microphone again this week and recount match day experiences after seeing Chelsea V Liverpool Legends at Stamford Bridge. After basking in a nostalgia fest which saw them see the likes of Petr Cech, John Terry, Joe Cole, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa take on Liverpool's Pepe Reina, Ryan Babel, Jay Spearing and Martin Skrtel; the lads ask the question: "why do we love a Chelsea legends match?"Cue a yearning, not just for their youth, but also the glory days when their beloved Blues of the 2010s won Premier Leagues, FA Cups a Champions League and, not to mention, a league cup thrown in for good measure. After wiping away their rose tinted tears, the brothers compare this golden era with the early days of the current squad and just hope that they emulate their now retired heroes. You'll be pleased to hear listeners that the match day clips are back and features tributes to Diego Jota, Joey Jones and Matt Beard. You can join us in this debate via the platforms below, or contact us to suggest your own topic...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue Sky X (mainly known as Twitter)Please do comment, like, review and share the show to as many people as you possibly can!The song used in this podcast is Duality by the always amazing Sea of Days. The New Regime

The FWSL deadline is: Sunday the 12th of October at 11:00 (apologies, we said it was the day before in the show!)It's episode 10 and there's something slightly different about this week's FPL Bridge Brothers as Nick takes the reigns as the show's host. The younger of the siblings' mood is especially good with his side getting 92 points in game week 7, with Matt trailing behind with a credible 76 (albeit that doesn't include his -4 points for an extra transfer). With the chaps's team doing pretty well, the next steps are all about kicking on Nick considers bolstering his strength in depth and Matt is all about upgrading his strike force. There's also FWSL chat with the lads recounting their progress and looking to take advantage of the men's international break as they get to grips with this new Fantasy challenge. We finish the show by paying tribute to the new over 70s World Cup Champions Wales who beat the USA 2-0 in the final and, in doing so, retained their title. What Can Chelsea Realistically Achieve This Season?

After a week which saw the Chelsea men's side beat Jose Mourinho's Benfica, followed by a much needed victory at home to Liverpool, the Bridge Brothers are suddenly feeling more optimistic about their team's prospects this season. Against Chelsea's underwhelming results the previous week, the inconsistency of the Blues' form does lead Matt and Nick to ask...What Can Chelsea Realistically Achieve This Season? You can join us in this debate via the platforms below, or contact us to suggest your own topic...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue Sky X (mainly known as Twitter)Please do comment, like, review and share the show to as many people as you possibly can!The song used in this podcast is Duality by the always amazing Sea of Days. Matt Pays Big for Benching Bee's Thiago

In a highly animated show, Matt tries to avoid the subject of his catastrohic team selection which saw him bench a 23 points which would have seen him achieve a very tidy 82 points in game week 6.Cue a rant that event Mark Kermode would be proud of, as the older of the two siblings laments his luck and tactics as his Nick continues to fly up the FPL rankings.Riding on a tide of green arrows, Nick ponders his next moves for game week 7, although listeners should be aware that this podcast was recorded on Monday the 30th of September long before Liverpool's Alisson Becker's injury, so make sure you give the otherwise formidable Brazilian a swerve when it comes to the immediate fixtures. The lads also talk through their FWSL teams with both brothers slowly getting the hang of it with Matt in particular playing his first chip of the season. We end the show by paying tribute to the Women's England Rugby side who defeated a formidable opponent in Canada to win the World Cup. The brothers celebrate the Red Roses Victory and tell Canada's PM that there are no excuses not to better fund his nation's female rugby stars. You can of course get in touch with us via the following platforms...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue Sky X (mainly known as Twitter)And when it comes to Fantasy leagues and codes, you can play FPL against us via the code BN59SG. Where Do Chelsea and Maresca Go From Here?

Nick starts the episode by recounting his match day experience seeing AFC Croydon return to the Mayfield Stadium to take on Jersey Bulls. Alas the Rams went down 3-2 to the Bulls, but there is much to be hopeful about, especially with the positive changes that have been made to Croydon's home ground. The lads are less buoyant about the Chelsea men's side who, again, were embarrassed by Brighton. By losing to the Seagulls, of course, the Blues have subjected Matt to more ridicule as he walks around the south coast in his expensive Chelsea home shirt. But anyway, with former legendary Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho coming to Stamford Bridge this week as manager of Benfica, Matt and Nick ask the question..."Where Do Chelsea and Maresca Go From Here?"You can join the debate via the following platforms...InstagramYouTubeTik-TokBlue Sky X (mainly known as Twitter)Please also comment, like, review and share the show. The theme tune for this podcast is Duality by the always amazing Sea of Days and you see see and hear the whole song via this link: DualityThanks again listeners and bye for now!Matt & Nick.
