The Fourward Pass

In this week's edition of TFPP, Luke and Charlie go through some of their favorite drafts from late April before diving into the Game 7 between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics. They also play the game, "Guess the record," with a few intriguing college football programs. To finish the show, they talk about the Brandon Soresby gambling scandal, and how this is just the tip of the iceberg of a massive issue in American sporting society.

TFPP is back for the NFL Draft. Although this Quarterback class is weaker than most, this draft brings intrigue from less-coveted positions. There is a good chance a Running Back, Safety, and Off-ball Linebacker get drafted in the top ten. That being Jeremiyah Love from Notre Dame, Caleb Downs from Ohio State, and Sonny Styles from Ohio State. If you are a football junkie plugged into college football, there is plenty to be excited about in the 2026 NFL Draft. March: the third month of the year in the Gregorian calendar that has 31 days. Originally, the first month in the Roman calendar and a time where 18-22-year-old basketball players define lifelong legacies... We, the people, just get to enjoy the ride.

Sam and Charlie hop on the pod to talk all things Olympic Hockey. The Slovak, Finland, Sweden group gave us some fun upsets, but the rest of the round robin was pretty chalky. The discussion ranges from the best and worst parts of team USA and team Canada, to the most frisky European teams in this tournament. The US will most likely have a date with Finland in the Quarterfinals while Sweden while Canada awaits the winner of the 8/9 Czcech Denmark game. Ultimately as hockey fans, we hope to see a US Canada Gold Medal game, and we pray that the race for gold isn't determined by a 3 on 3 overtime. At the end of the podcast, we discuss some of the other storylines around Milan.

Not the most entertaining Super Bowl Game, but the story of this playoffs has been the improbable career turnaround of Sam Darnold. The Sam Darnold Doc is going to be a great watch one day. The podcast then dives into their favorite Quarterback contracts in the NFL, and some of the worst. After this, Sam gives his scheduling fix for the NFL, so that Americans can get off work Super Bowl Monday. NDSU has been a storied program in Division 2 and FCS, so fittingly they have made their way into the bright FBS lights. This is a great move for the Mountain West conference, as NDSU immediately becomes one of the most recognizable brands in the conference. But this move is devastating for an FCS subdivision that has already lost JMU, Delaware, Jax State, and Kennesaw State over the past few years. The pod speculates that this move will be followed by a few other Missouri Valley and Big Sky Schools, perhaps the Montana schools and South Dakota State. The Olympics are back with NHL players for the first time since 2014. We bring on special guest Esai Morse to talk about some international puck. Canada and America are the favorites in the odds market, but the continent of Europe plays hockey as well, and they may have something to say to their North American counterparts.

There is no greater story in college football than the one that played out before our very eyes. When you get the chance to watch greatness, cherish it. You get the picture. When greatness arrives, it captures the hearts and minds of the American public. That’s exactly what the Indiana Hoosiers have done on this run. From there, we shift to the more corporate but still wildly entertaining world of the NFL. Los Angeles Rams vs Chicago Bears delivered a thriller and quite possibly the single greatest play I’ve ever watched. We field questions on the future of the Houston Texans and the Buffalo Bills, break down AFC and NFC outlooks, and pose a thoughtful question: What magic, if any, do Jarrett Stidham and Sean Payton still have to offer?

But the Ole Miss defense is a tier below the other defenses left in this tournament.
