The Venezuela team scored first in the 3rd inning off a sacrifice by Maikel Garcia and again in the 5th, off a homer by Wilyer Abreu for 2-0 lead and kept the United States team at bay for most of the night. Venezuela's pitching was solid all night until Bryce Harper jacked a two run homer in the bottom of the 8th inning to give the U.S. life. In the top of the 9th, Luis Arraez led off with a walk and Javier Sanoja came in to run for Arraez. Sanoja stole 2nd and came home as Eugenio Suarez doubled to center. Send a textWeek 4 of the NFL. Part 2. Recap now Thursday Night Football on Prime - Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals. Sam Darnold played an efficient game and got the win. In our opinion Marvin Harrison Jr. needs more touches. Two Monday Night Football Games took place with the New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins and the Cincinnati Bengals vs. Denver Broncos. The Jets started the game pounding the ball in the running game from one end of the field to the other, but they failed to score turning the ball over as they crossed the goal line. Their defense is still one of the best in the league, but they couldn't prevent the loss27-21. Tyreek Hill is out for the season with a gruesome injury to his knee. The Broncos blew out the Bengals 28-3. I know it's early but the Broncos seem to be positioning themselves for a playoff run. Which school has the best receivers in the league, L.S.U. or Ohio State? Send a textThis week in the NFL brought a lot of excitement again. Pittsburgh and Minnesota met in Dublin on Sunday morning and gave a good show for American style football. Aaron Rodgers hit DK Metcalf on a 80 yard strike to give the Steelers the lead that they would not give back. Carson Wentz had 350 yards on 30-46 with 2 TD but also 2 INTs. The Falcons handled the Commanders, Michael Pennix Jr is proving to be the new Lefty in Atlanta. The Giants gave Jaxson Dart his first start and got in the winning column against the 3-0 LA Chargers. The Bills and Eagles remained undefeated now standing at 4-0. There was so much action we had to cut this episode into two parts. The USA reigned supreme on the basketball court and dominated gymnastics as well as the track and field. The women took the gold on the soccer field. There were a number of controversies that affected the outcomes of events. No conspiracies but there are grumblings under the surface that I hope one day are revealed. We saw some very enjoyable events and some amazing outcomes in sports we never paid attention to before. But the Olympics were fun and we will share our choices of the best events that we watched. Send a textInside The NBA on TNT has been a standard bearer for basketball analysis of high profile games during the season and playoffs, for almost thirty five years. Ernie Johnson Jr. has been the host since 1990, Kenny "The Jet" Smith since 1998, Charles Barkley since 2000 and Shaquille O'Neal since 2011. They are writers and producers on the show as well and have built an amazing following over the years. It is disappointing to hear that the league, who gave them five days to match an offer received from Disney, NBC and Amazon Prime Video, did not accept the offer from TNT's parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery. Inside The NBA is an institution, garnering 19 Emmys over the years for their work in Sports Broadcasting. There will be future conversations about a coming law suit by TNT against the NBA to appeal the decision. Look out for the New Edition tribute to Inside The NBA by yours truly. How well will their fan base sleep this off season with questions also facing Kawhi Leonard who has left Team USA, who is preparing for the Olympics. Send a textNBA Free Agency opened July 1, 2024. The Sixers  got their man, Paul George. His Clipper teammate James Harden resigns with the Clippers. Knick fans were surprised to learn that center Isaiah Hartenstein signed with the Thunder, who also traded for Alex Caruso. Hartenstein's former teammate OG Anunoby resigned with the Knicks. Kentavious Caldwell Pope signed with the Magic after winning a ring with the Nuggets a year ago. Klay Thompson, a four time champion with the Warriors is headed to the Mavericks in a sign and trade. After we got off the air, DeMar DeRozan completed a sign and trade to go to the Kings. Harrison Barnes goes to the Spurs, and Chris Duarte is headed to the Bulls with picks. Alot more going on and we plan on covering it as we get more information. Social Media has gone wild with people taking sides on whether the Lakers as an organization did the right thing for the team or was LeBron James wishes the most important thing? Whatever the case, the pick is controversial. Bronny averaged 4.8 points a game in a shortened season due to health issues that didn't allow him to play a full season. All we can really do is hope and pray he's fully recovered and he is going to develop before his dad's career comes to an end. Will they force him out on the floor before he's developed a NBA game for the sake of legacy? So many takes on what is right. Send a textThis is a recap of the 2024 NBA Draft. Two rounds over two days and a lot of emotion is displayed as new millionaires are living their dreams. The first two picks are from France, the third pick, Reed Sheppard is the best shooter in the draft as he is shooting 50-50-80 and a quality player for the Houston Rockets. We review the Top 10 picks and jump around the draft for the most probable players to have an impact this season. Zach Edey's stocl fluctuated like there was a recession. He didn't bother to attend the draft, we think because of the embarrassment it would cause if he was to fall down too far. Surprisingly he was taken at number 9 by the Memphis Grizzlies. Rob Dillingham out of Kentucky went with the eighth pick to the Spurs and traded to the Timberwolves. Two players from the two time champion UCONN Huskies, Stephon Castle and Donavan Clingan are lottery picks at number 4 and number 7 respectfully. The pick at 55 became a bigger story than we could handle in this episode, so we are dedicating episode 10 to Bronny James. Send a textThe Nets have traded their best player Mikal Bridges to their crosstown rivals, the New York Knicks.  The Knicks already have three players from the 2018 Villanova championship team, and now they bring in the quick slashing wing, Bridges.  The Nets were briefly building around Mikal after the Kevin Durant trade that brought K.D. to Phoenix. Mikal had an immediate impact in the Nets lineup, averaging 26.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists, in just 27 games. They were a playoff participant, eventually losing to the Sixers. After the season Mikal played for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup. He played well, but the team faltered after group play. When  the '23-'24 season was complete, the Nets had fired their head coach,  missed the playoffs, let go of their interim coach and had no picks for the upcoming draft. The Knicks also resigned O.G. The rumors have been on going since JJ has been spending the last few months doing a podcast with Laker star LeBron James. Questions about the hire include, why would a franchise with championship aspirations hire a coach with absolutely no coaching experience? Send a textWe see the Celtics come home for Game 5 after a 38 point blowout loss in Game 4. Kristaps Porzingis is cleared to play, but is a question mark as to how effective he will be. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving played their best game of the series as a duo in Game 4. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum played their worst game and are looking to bounce back in Game 5 to close the series 4-1.  Porzingis contributed 16 minutes of solid play, Sam Hauser and Al Horford made key three point shots to help extend the lead, Jrue Holiday had 11 rebounds,  Tatum 31 points and Brown 21 points to lead the team to victory. Send a textThe Dallas Mavericks were back in the home stadium but suffered the same fate as the first two games in Boston. Kyrie Irving played his best game of the series thus far but his backcourt partner Luka Doncic was off the reservation and spent a lot of time flopping on drives and trying to draw fouls. He ended up fouling out himself with four minutes left and the game still not determined. He hurt his team more than helped, even though he was the second leading scorer. Boston got great contributions from the two Js. Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown had 31 points and 30 points respectfully.  They had support from the other starters and the bench. The Celtics didn't miss a beat even with Kristaps Porzingis sidelined with a rare foot injury. The Celtics are on the verge of a sweep. The only question is can they finish in Dallas, or are they going home to try again at TD Garden?It was announced today that  after losing out on UCONN coach Danny Hurley, NBA analyst, JJ Redick will be interviewed this weekend for the vacant Lakers head coaching position. Send a textThe Dallas Mavericks started game 2 with more focus and a Luka midrange jumper. Kyrie had 8 first quarter points, and PJ Washington was more involved as well, for a 13-6 lead, time out Boston. Once the Celtics regrouped they began to right the ship and they were on their way to another sold first quarter. Kristaps Porzingis scored 8 points in the first and intimidated on defense.  Jason Tatum was driving and dishing and Jrue Holiday was cutting and swishing. Jason Tatum was one rebound short of a triple double, 18 points, 9 rebounds and a healthy 12 assists. The Celtics struggled from three point range or we would have seen another 18 point win. Both teams had trouble from beyond the arc, Kyrie was silent after the strong first quarter. Send a textThe Celtics came out in Game 1 on fire and ended the first quarter up 17 points.  The Mavericks were overwhelmed by the Celtics defense, two players, Porzingis and Brown had three blocks each. Dallas know as the new "Lob City" didn't get a lob until mid fourth quarter. The Mavs made a galant 29-9 run in the third quarter  cutting the Cs lead to 8 points. The Celtics regrouped and made a run of their own, stretching the lead back out to 16.  They never seemed to really be challenged by the Mavericks the rest of the night. Dallas star Kyrie Irving had shooting difficulties most of the night going 6-19 from the field and 0-5 from three point range, finishing with 12 points. You can expect a better game from Kyrie in the next game. Dallas' other star Luka Doncic scored 30 points but he had to work hard to get these points. The Dallas Mavericks are a talented team that has fallen short annually but they have made some additions that have, along with their stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving have them in position to upset the storied franchise in Boston. Dallas Mavericks Battle between two great duos that have had great play throughout the early rounds and Dallas is now set on sweeping the T-wolves. The battle in the Eastern Conference is similar as the Boston Celtics v. Indiana Pacers is also a 3-0 series. Boston is going for the sweep, but the Pacers have been in every game and I, Kev Mints  predicts that the Pacers will save their season and win game four. There was a lot to unpack with the death of Chadwick Boseman and the decision to not recast the character of T'Challa, the Black Panther and king of Wakanda. A rewrite had to be viable to keep Marvel fans engaged in the new storyline. Also there was the introduction of the anti-hero, Namor and the Talocan nation. Incorporating the characters death into the story was risky and an emotional rollercoaster throughout the film. Could it be a success? Will we like the direction Ryan Coogler took the film? The loss of Chadwick Boseman the star of the first Black Panther movie changed the dynamic of this next chapter in the Marvel Universe. A lot of people petitioned to have the character recast and continue with the storyline. Others, which include the director and the producers want to move slowly in making a decision on the character. This movie serves as a tribute to the actor and star of the first Black Panther film. Josh Mint and I have a hard time disagreeing on the content of the trailers though we may disagree about recasting. Some well known college stars were on hand and some unknown commodities were in the green room, looking to make a name for themselves. The top three picks were supposedly set in stone, but ended up in a blender as the draft commenced. We give our take on who we thought were the top draft picks for this year. Send a textThe Golden State Warriors are down 2-1 to the Boston Celtics and have to be in desperation mode as to not go down 3-1. The Warriors will be in serious trouble if that happens. Steph Curry finished with 43 points (14/26 FGs  7/14 3FGs) and 10 rebounds, but was it enough? Draymond Green seems to be depending on his podcast to share his narrative but is still so-so on the court in Boston. Jayson Tatum had 23 points and Jaylen Brown 21 points and 6 rebounds, and the Celtics have had good fourth quarters. How did it end? He looked out of sorts and didn't have the same aggressiveness we saw in Game 2. Draymond is a fellow podcaster and some say he was distracted by still religiously doing episodes on the road and responding to critics in real time. The Celtics responded in Game 3 with three players, ( Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart) with 20+ points, 5+ rebounds, and 5+ assists. They now have a 2-1 lead with Game 4 at home in Boston.
