The Investlete Podcast

Investlete covers the intersection of sports and business. We spotlight athletes who had to figure it out after their playing career — not the biggest names with the flashiest deals, but the ones who actually built something. The stories that don't get enough attention. Each episode, we sit down with a former athlete and break down their career, what the transition out of sports looked like, and what they're building now. We talk about the real stuff — the businesses, the investments, the pivots, the failures, and the lessons that came with all of it. No scripts, no fluff, just honest conversations with people who went from competing at the highest level to building something on their own.Whether you're an athlete thinking about what's next, someone in the sports business world, or just someone who respects the grind of building from scratch — this show is for you.

George Asafo-Adjei: Former NFL Offensive Lineman Turned Serial Entrepreneur

George Asafo-Adjei was born in the Bronx, moved to Ohio at 8, and worked his way to becoming a team captain at the University of Kentucky. In 2019, the New York Giants selected him in the seventh round of the NFL Draft. Before he ever played a regular season game, a concussion in training camp put him on injured reserve. By March 2020, he was waived with a failed physical. His NFL career was over before it started. But George had already been building. He founded GeNi LLC while still in college, and since then he's launched multiple ventures including Groov Club, an on-demand service booking app, CLUB YOU, a premium mobile nightlife experience, and his own clothing brand. In this episode, we talk about what it was like going from the Ohio to Kentucky to the NFL, saying goodbye to your career at 22, and how he turned that into a portfolio of businesses. A different kind of pivot, but the same grind.

Brandon Miller: Former Professional Soccer Goalie Turned Entrepreneur and Investor

Brandon Miller spent 10 years as a professional goalkeeper in the USL. He won a championship, set league records, and was named Goalkeeper of the Year. But before he ever retired, he was already building. In this episode, Brandon talks about grinding through years as a third-string keeper, what it took to break through in 2015, and why he pushed back when everyone assumed coaching was next. We get into Prime Focus Goalkeeping — the brand he started while still playing that grew 33% year-over-year for five straight years — his work co-founding the USL Black Players Alliance, and what he's building now at Miller Woods Capital Partners, his Charlotte-based investment firm focused on real estate, sports tech, and lower middle market businesses. This one's a good one, enjoy!
