Types of Cemeteries: Pioneer Cemetery
In this trilogy, Brian talks about types of cemeteries that you might find when looking for a final resting place for a loved one. In this podcast, Brian talks about how a cemetery is considered a pioneer cemetery. Brian talks about Alder Grove cemetery in Waldport as an example of a pioneer cemetery as well as Eureka Cemetery in Newport, Oregon. Some pioneer cemeteries still have spaces available to do burials, like Eureka Cemetery, while others are full and are no longer accepting burials. Types of Cemeteries: Traditional Vs Memorial Park
In this trilogy, Brian talks about types of cemeteries that you might find when looking for a final resting place for a loved one. In this podcast, Brian talks about how a cemetery is designated a memorial park versus a traditional cemetery. He talks about the perpetual care and types of headstone or markers allowed in the different types of cemeteries. Memorial parks are a newer type of cemetery introduced about 75 years ago. They are parks and gardens where memorials (instead of tombstones) are placed level with the ground to blend with the beauty of the landscape. They often feature expansive lawns with a variety of trees, flower beds and gardens, as well as benches, memorial statues to create reflective landscaping.A traditional cemetery has a variety of tombstones from upright monuments, usually made of stone to flat markers. Because many have functioned in their communities for over 100 years, traditional cemeteries typically contain a great deal of history.Send us Fan Mail Contact Bateman Funeral Home in Newport, OregonVisit Bateman Funeral Home's websiteFollow us on Facebook Email us at [email protected] more information about preplanning and the funeral industry, you can find out more on our website. Options for a Final Disposition
In this trilogy, Brian talks about your options for final disposition and a final resting place for a loved one. For this podcast, Brian talks about the different options families have for a final disposition. For burial, there are three different resting place options: above ground, in the ground or at sea. A body can be entombed in a mausoleum or buried in a cemetery. At sea, a body can be released into the ocean in a biodegradable container that is weighted. If cremation is chosen, there are several different options. An urn can be buried in the ground at a cemetery, urn garden or memorial garden. Like a casket can be placed in a crypt, an urn can be entombed in a niche. A biodegradable urn can be released at sea, or in an inland body of water. A well known option is that cremains can be scattered or kept at the home of a loved one.Additionally, Brian talks about body donation and scattering at sea performed by the Navy. https://www.epa.gov/marine-protection-permitting/burial-seaSend us Fan Mail Contact Bateman Funeral Home in Newport, OregonVisit Bateman Funeral Home's websiteFollow us on Facebook Email us at [email protected] more information about preplanning and the funeral industry, you can find out more on our website.
