Combatting Dehumanization in our Communities and our Hearts
Dehumanization -- depriving someone of human qualities, personality, or dignity because of perceived differences -- has been responsible for the some of the darkest chapters in the history of the world. How do we root out this significant societal problem from our communities? It begins with each one of us rooting it out of our own hearts. As we lean in, get closer, and try to understand the unique lived experiences of each person, we begin to see their choices in new light, and we can't help but discover a renewed sense of respect. In 2025, as we see dehumanizing viewpoints and actions creating hurt and difficulty for many across the United States, it's vital that we lean in, learn from the past, and see eachother for what we truly are: human beings, all created equal. Thanks for joining us for Season 1 of The Let's Talk Sis Podcast. We'll be back this fall with Season 2. Subscribe, and stay tuned!

Our American History and the President's Executive Order to "Restore Truth and Sanity"
On March 27th, President Trump issued an executive order focused on "Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History." In part, it read, "Over the past decade, Americans have witnessed a concerted and widespread effort to rewrite our Nation’s history, replacing objective facts with a distorted narrative driven by ideology rather than truth. This revisionist movement seeks to undermine the remarkable achievements of the United States by casting its founding principles and historical milestones in a negative light. Under this historical revision, our Nation’s unparalleled legacy of advancing liberty, individual rights, and human happiness is reconstructed as inherently racist, sexist, oppressive, or otherwise irredeemably flawed." The order goes on to empower Vice President JD Vance to "remove improper ideology" from federal museums and sites. The truth of the matter is that while America's achievements in the advancements of liberty are real and powerful, our history does also include real and painful stories of the oppression of women, African Americans, Native Americans, and other marginalized groups. We ignore, hide, or rewrite those stories at our own peril. The greatness of America is in the power of its people to see truth for what it is and to overcome and become better. That only happens when we see one another as human beings, listen to each other, find common ground, and come together to build what Dr. Martin Luther King called "the beloved community." After a recent trip to Washington DC and the Smithsonian African American Museum, we're eager to get into this discussion. Join us!

The History of Racial Terms
At the base of everything we do is a desire to help all of us create more powerful human connections despite the differences that could divide us. We've made particular effort in our training and consulting work to help people understand how to use the most humanizing terms possible when we refer to one another. But the history of racial terminology is complicated and nuanced, and we know that many people wonder if they're doing it right or being as sensitive as they could be. We celebrate and honor that desire. In this episode, we take a walk through the history of racial terms to help you better navigate your relationships in the hope that it will help you form deeper human connections in the community circles wherever you live.

Maintaining Healthy Relationships Amid Serious Differences
In today's world, within families, friend groups, neighborhoods, religious congregations, and communities, serious differences seem to be emerging--political, religious, cultural and otherwise. Learning to interact peacefully and respectfully amid these differences is vital for our survival and happiness as a society. Study after study has revealed how much human beings need each other. Cutting one another off because of our differences will never be the answer. That only leads to serious declines in physical, social, and emotional health. But how do we manage, maintain, and even strengthen our relationships amid the tensions we're experiencing today? Join us for this important and emotional discussion on The Let's Talk Sis Podcast.

Historical Implications of Beyonce's Cowboy Carter
After multiple historic wins at the Grammy Awards earlier this month -- including Album of the Year and Country Album of the Year -- Beyonce's Cowboy Carter is seeing a resurgence in streaming and in dialogue across social media and beyond. Some feel Bey deserved the wins. Others have questioned the validity of the Recording Academy's voting processes and the relative value of a "country" album that doesn't really sound like country music. But no matter your opinions on the project, Cowboy Carter represents something much more important than just another collection of songs. It's a cultural statement, a reminder of the rich and diverse history that gave birth to country music as we know it today, and a recognition of the influence of black musical pioneers and their influence on what we listen to every day. Our producer, Ross Boothe, a current member of the Recording Academy, joins us to discuss Cowboy Carter, its historical underpinnings and implications, and its historic wins at the 67th annual Grammy Awards.

The Super Bowl & The Black National Anthem
The Black National Anthem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing," is typically performed at the Super Bowl following "The Star Spangled Banner." We always get a lot of questions about the anthem: Where did it come from? What is its historical and cultural significance? Does it add to or take away from The Star Spangled Banner? What does it mean to the Black community when it is performed? We're talking about those questions and more on today's episode of The Let's Talk Sis Podcast. Produced by Ross Boothe for WB Productions. For more, join us on Instagram: instagram.com/letstalk_sis

This is a conversation we are 100% ready to have. Join us on The Let's Talk Sis Podcast.
