The Melbourne Dérive

This podcast series will take you through, around, over, under, and inside different parts of Melbourne life.The word ‘dérive’ in the title comes from the theory of psychogeography which begun in France in the 1950’s. I’ll be using it to guide my exploration of Melbourne, drifting around and looking at parts of your urban environment you might normally walk by.

In this episode I went to Biba Hair Academy for a cut and colour then interviewed the teacher at the end of it. I wanted to find out where else to go for cheap student services so I had a chat to some local Melburnians. Episode 10

David fixes up, and alters bikes for a hobby. He has quite a collection and gives us an insight into the Melbourne bike scene. I chat to some cyclists to see what they think of Melbourne bike culture. Episode 9

In this episode I explored the Melbourne graffiti scene. I met up with a photographer who takes progressive shots of graffiti. And I talked to some locals about their favourite spots for graffiti. Episode 8
