Winter Storm Warning | Michigan Weather 6 PM
Good evening! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Michigan Weather Podcast for Tuesday, February 24th. Folks — winter's throwing us a curveball tonight. And you'll want to pay attention. We've got a real mixed bag rolling across the state. And depending on where you're standing, your evening looks very different. Step outside in Detroit right now and you're feeling low 30s. Not terrible, right? But a clipper system is sliding down from Ontario. And it's bringing a wicked mix of light snow and freezing drizzle with it. By midnight, you could see an inch or two of accumulation across the southeast. Hidden black ice is going to be coating side streets, so if you're heading out tonight, take it slow. Heading up toward Traverse City, it's a different story entirely. Lake-effect snow bands have been hammering the northwestern shoreline all afternoon. Some spots near Leelanau County are already sitting at four to five inches. And it's not done yet. Another three to four could pile up before sunrise. That's the kind of snow that makes Wednesday morning commutes brutal, so Dress warmly and give yourself extra time. Over in the Upper Peninsula? Marquette's getting absolutely buried. You're looking at eight-plus inches by tomorrow afternoon, with winds gusting near 35 miles per hour. That's near-blizzard conditions. And wind chills are dangerous — dropping to minU S One0 overnight. If you're up there, stay inside if you can. Down in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, you're catching the lighter side of this system. Mostly cloudy skies, temperatures hovering around 28, with maybe a dusting overnight. Nothing dramatic, but those roads will still be slick. Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. Wednesday stays cold and snowy up north, but things start calming down statewide by Thursday. Temperatures climb into the mid-30s Friday and Saturday — practically a heat wave by late February standards. Perfect weather for getting outside and shaking off the cabin fever, if you ask me. One more thing — we're sitting at just over 11 hours of daylight now. Spring isn't here yet, but it's definitely peeking around the corner. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!

Michigan Weather: 02-22-2026
Good evening! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Michigan Weather Podcast for Sunday, February 22nd. Folks, winter just punched the clock for overtime. That dusting you woke up to? Just the appetizer. Snow rolls back in around 5 P.M. Across the state. And from there, things get interesting. Southeast Michigan picks up 1 to 2 inches by 4 A.M. Monday. Enough to slick every road, not enough to cancel anything. You're hitting 34 degrees around 5 P.M., then sliding to 25 by 9 A.M. Northwest winds at 13 miles an hour make it feel like 12 degrees by morning. That's the kind of cold that finds every zipper gap. Swing over to West Michigan and the snow wraps up by midnight. Less than half an inch, but black ice doesn't need much. Highs reach 32 degrees, then drop to 20 by 8 A.M. Wind chills down near 8 degrees at dawn. Now up north is where winter really throws its weight around. Snow starts at 5 P.M. And doesn't quit until 9 A.M. Monday. Heaviest bursts around 7 P.M. Highs struggle to 26 degrees, then crash to 15. Wind chills hit zero by 8 A.M. Winter Weather Advisories are up near the lake coasts. Bridges and overpasses will be treacherous. Slow down. Monday's deep freeze pushes wind chills below zero statewide. Northern Michigan flirts with minus 10. Your exposed skin won't last long out there. The week ahead tells a wild story. Tuesday dumps another round of snow, 2 to 4 inches up north with lake effect piling on. Wednesday eases into the mid 30s. Thursday teases more snow, track still uncertain. Then Friday delivers the plot twist. Highs near 41 degrees in the southeast, 45 in West Michigan. Your coat might actually feel optional for five minutes. I'll be tracking this all night. Charge those phones and top off the gas tank. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!

Northern Michigan could see 2 to 4, especially near Marquette. After that? Things quiet down. Skies stay cloudy but temperatures start climbing. By Friday, West Michigan touches 44 degrees. Northern Michigan flirts with 40. Almost feels like progress. But Saturday night crashes back to 24 degrees with snow showers. Classic. One bright spot. We gained nearly 3 minutes of daylight today. Winter's grip is loosening, even if it doesn't feel like it yet. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
