From my position as a retired family practitioner for 16 years. I graduated UC Berkeley in 1968 and UCLA medical school in 1972.. My postgraduate work was done at Bridgeport Hospital (a Yale affiliate) followed by by two years working for a county medical clinic in the San Fernando Valley. My next step was two years on active duty in the US Navy . Unfortunately, while on deployment as a general medical officer for a seabee battalion (USNMCB40). Unfortunately, while on deployment, I developed symptoms of a sensory and motor neuropathy. This led to a medical discharge and a change of direction in my career. I now spent 2 years working as an emergency room physician but extreme fatigue forced me to leave.. Next, I found a good family practice in Thousand Oaks California. which lasted 16 years until symptoms of my neuropathy forced men into retirement in 1994 at age 47..My practice experience included starting a bioethics committee at my community hospital in 1984.
