Hosted by Michelle Doran a lover of words and curious about language, we asked the questions - What are these words? Where did they come from? How are they constructed and how do they become part of modern day use. Expert and academic from the University of Worcester - Dr Jenny Lewin Jones guides us through this word phenomenon explaining the history, language use, International words, Word of the Year, the Oxford English Dictionary, Urban Dictionary, the Australian Macquarie Dictionary ... and least of all - Humpty Dumpty. We hear from Julia with her Etsy shop explaining the explosion of mechandise and all things Barbeheimer and Manchester United Fans talk Brexit, KFCKing and McFred. How many Portmanteaux can you spot in the following text: ‘Last year I decided to take a staycation, I had just finished working on a documentary about Botox (ouch)..and needed a break. Am sitting in a café having brunch, headphones in trying to avoid checking my emails – listening to a podcast where they are discussing Trussonomics (boooo) yeah I know.  I drop my spork, reach down to pick it up and realise I have forgotten my anklet, must have left it at the motel  – oh no – I say out loud.  A waiter appears – I explain what's happened.  Ah I see – he says and disappears.   A few minutes later he returns - ‘Bloody Mary Mocktail’ on the house, chillax, its Twixmas!
