RavenTV: Wayside Thrift Returns to STHS
On Wednesday, January 15th, STHS’s National Honor Society hosted Wayside Thrift, an annual clothing fundraiser held in the school gym. The event ran from 3:25 PM-4:15 PM and featured donated clothing items available for purchase by students and staff. NHS members volunteered during 4th period and Raven’s Nest to set up, manage checkout stations, and maintain the shopping areas. The fundraiser required extensive planning and coordination, with NHS officers creating volunteer schedules, layout plans, and specific position assignments to ensure smooth operations throughout the event.Wayside Thrift offered two purchasing options for shoppers. Students could buy bags (small for $2 or large for $4) and fill them with as many items as they could fit, with everything inside the bag being free. Alternatively, shoppers could purchase individual items with prices ranging from free tank tops and t-shirts to $3 for formal wear and jackets. The event had clear rules to maintain order: no backpacks allowed, no food or drinks, payment required upfront with no coins or bills over $10, and all sales were final. NHS volunteers staffed checkout registers and helped shoppers navigate the gym setup while maintaining a respectful shopping environment. In this broadcast, Joscan and Rashell take you to Wayside Thrift, showing how NHS transformed the gym into a thrift store and highlighting the community response to the fundraiser. The segment captures student reactions, volunteer experiences, and the overall success of this student-organized event. This is a public episode.
