Episode 9 - Gareth Fox - The Power of The Mind
In the latest episode of the podcast I sat down and had a powerful conversation with Gareth Fox. Gareth is a qualified sports hypnotherapist and has worked with various athletes on improving their mental performance and focus in order or overcome mental blocks, limiting beliefs and negative self-talk. He has worked with GAA players and athletes from other sports as well as members of the general public. Gareth is also an accomplished journalist with him regularly writing articles for Gaelic Life. We took a deep dive into a myriad of topics as we discussed Gareth’s work as a Sports Hypnotherapist and dispelled many of the myths and fallacies surrounding hypnotherapy. We discussed some of the challenges Gareth has faced during his career as a sports hypnotherapist as well as what the greatest lesson he has learnt over his professional and personal life. Episode 7 - Johnny Bergin - Finding Your Passion and Purpose
On today’s podcast I had the honour and pleasure of having Johnny Bergin. Johnny and I have a lot in common. We are the same age, both from Armagh both operate as Personal Trainers and online coaches and most importantly are values and principles synch up and are very much in alignment. We had a powerful and profound conversation as Johnny explained how he got into fitness and health and how he like me was influenced by the “aesthetics movement” and wanting to build the beach muscles to impress others and seeking external validation. We discussed the evolution of our fitness journeys and how are values shifted from seeking external validation from others to cultivating intrinsic drive deep from within our being. We discuss the challenges Johnny has faced both on a personal level and on a professional level as a PT and online coach. We discuss the distinction between a fixed and growth mindset and the importance of cultivating a growth mindset in order to facilitate greater personal development and growth in all domains of your life. Episode 4 - Guilherme Passos - My Brazilian Bror 🇧🇷
In this episode of the podcast I have my good friend and Brazilian brother Guileherme. We began the podcast by Guilherme telling his story of how he grew up in Brazil and how him and his family eventually moved to Ireland when he was young , we talk about the transition he made moving from Brazil to here and then we took a deep dive into many topics ranging our own thoughts on the Coronavirus pandemic, the biggest lessons we’ve learned in life, what our definitions of greatness are, the routines and practices we’ve found to ensure continuous and persistent personal growth, the importance of daily reading and lifelong learning as some of the keys to fulfilment in life, the importance of drive, self-talk and setting goals, spirituality and meditation and finally how our experiences of training martial arts, in particular, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu have had a profoundly positive impact on our lives in terms of building mental and physical toughness, resilience and strength as well as building greater confidence and self-belief that has then translated into having greater confidence and self-belief in how we interface with all the other aspects of our lives.
