Background Michael is a 2026 biographical film directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan. It follows the life of American singer Michael Jackson, covering his involvement in the Jackson 5 in the 1960s to the Bad tour in the late 1980s. Jackson is portrayed by his nephew Jaafar Jackson and as a child by Juliano Krue Valdi, both in their film debuts. The supporting cast includes Nia Long, KeiLyn Durrel Jones, Laura Harrier, Jessica Sula, Mike Myers, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo. principal photography took place between January and May 2024. After a clause was discovered in a legal settlement, references to the 1993 child sexual abuse allegations against Jackson were removed, the third act was revised, and reshoots took place in June 2025 In the second half of 1993, Jackson faced significant controversy following allegations that he had sexually abused 13‑year‑old Jordan Chandler, whom he met that year. On December 18, 2003, Santa Barbara authorities charged Jackson with seven counts of child molestation and two counts of intoxicating a minor with alcoholic drinks.[289] Jackson denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty.[290] The People v. Jackson trial began on January 31, 2005, in Santa Maria, California, and lasted until the end of May. On June 13, 2005, Jackson was acquitted on all counts. Key details regarding the allegations: 1993 Allegations: Jordan Chandler accused Jackson of sexual abuse. A criminal investigation was conducted, but no charges were filed after a settlement was reached out of court for an estimated US$23 million. 2005 Trial: Jackson was tried on 14 charges related to the abuse of 13-year-old Gavin Arvizo. He was acquitted on all counts by a California jury after a four-month trial. Posthumous Allegations: The 2019 documentary Leaving Neverland featured testimony from Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who alleged they were abused by Jackson. Both men had previously defended Jackson under oath, but later stated they lied to protect him. Defence Perspective: Supporters, including some friends and family, argued the accusations were extortion attempts motivated by money MJ The Musical is a hit West End show at London’s Prince Edward Theatre, focusing on the rehearsals for Michael Jackson's 1992 Dangerous World Tour. It features over 25 of his iconic hits, including "Thriller" and "Billie Jean," and runs until February 28, 2026. I was in an 11 piece Funk /Soul band called Motel out of York when Pat the drummer rang me at work mid afternoon and said are you free tonight we’ve a gig supporting Dexy midnight runners can you be at Alcuin dinning hall for 6:30pm - Alcuin was one of the colleges at York University amazingly I would end up having my office in Alcuin college for 16 years when I was their as a lecturer. I got to the gig just as Dexy finished sound checking the road crew were great and was the band except Kevin Rowland who wander around with a scowl on his face We play the crowd loved us and we did 2 encores after We’d moved our gear off the stage I was walking up to the shared dressing room and Kevin Rowland passed me on the stairs and muttered 2 fucking encores bunch of amateurs - I was speechless Now that tour is covered in the book York isn’t mentioned but let me read a small paragraph So it wasn’t personal Kevin was being a dick to everyone and that comes across in the book its everyones fault not his faulty he went bankrupt thats his managers and accounts fault You could say the writing was on the wall when 5 members of the original Dexys left because of him and the same happened with the 2nd version of Dexys The book has left me not liking Kevin Rowland and it seems clear that he has mellowed over time but he has diminished my eyes and I not know if I want to keep all of the Dexy records I have maybe I’ll just keep the greatest hits and flog the rest Recommendations andor on Disney Chocolatemilk on bandcamp 38 releases not Chocolate space milk the 1970s funk band it sort of electronica with retrowave Ranzee albums now on sinners music
