Episode 32: “Tyler Terens: World Cup Commentator for Fox Sports”
TYLER TERENS is making his World Cup announcing debut for Fox Sports in 2026. He’s been assigned to work with former U.S. National team player Maurice Edu, starting with a game between Sweden and Tunisia June 14 in Monterey, Mexico. Terens started his career working lower level games at Vista World in Florida, calling games on a monitor. He then did Chicago Fire games for three years before doing Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass. He’s a New Jersey native, a former soccerplayer at Hobart College in New York, and not the only alum who has worked on national television. Egan’s film takes an inside look at Best, who became a teenage star in the late 1960s at West Ham United in England, straight off the island of Bermuda. Best then would be one of the early stars of the North American Soccer League in the mid-1970s. This film looks closely at Best and also racein soccer/football in the world. He has been the lead Spanish-language voice for Apple TV’s presentation of Major League Soccer since 2023. He will once again be heard on FDP’s presentation of the World Cup on the radio. They have been the Spanish-language home of US Soccer and the World Cup in the U.S. since 2002. At the end of his 17-year playing career Herculez Gomez turned to the broadcasting business. He started withFox Sports while still playing, and since 2017 he has been with ESPN, where he hosts a daily show Ahora o Nunca (Now or Never) on ESPN Deportes and ESPN+. He also appears on ESPNFC and you can find his work on YouTube. A Mexican American who chose to play for the US national team, Herculez says he is equally comfortable in either country and broadcasting in both languages.
