This story is based on “Reynard and Bruin”, a story which was collected and published around 1916 by Joseph Jacobs, in the volume entitled "Europa's Fairy Book". Joseph Jacobs was an Australian folklorist. He was born in Sydney, Australia, in 1854. Jacobs was also an anthropologist and historian, contributing to publications on society and religious matters. Although born in Australia, he became known as an authority on English, Celtic, Indian, Jewish and European folklore. He collected many stories which are well known and popular through their many other names and adaptations.
