The Sucky Sisterhood Podcast: Interviews with Miscarriage and Infant Loss Survivors

The Sucky Sisterhood Podcast: Interviews with Miscarriage and Infant Loss Survivors (formerly Slaying The Stigma) is a series focused on changing the narrative of miscarriage and infant loss, one voice at a time. We highlight women and men who vulnerably share their perspective, their heart and their stories. By normalizing the conversation of pregnancy loss, we are collectively encouraging those in their healing journey and educating others who are unfamiliar with the issues surrounding baby loss. The Sucky Sisterhood Podcast helps loss moms and their allies overcome isolation and stigma, so that they can reshape the narrative surrounding baby loss together. This podcast is part of a bigger movement called Gathering Hope, where we empower women to grieve & celebrate the lives they lost alongside other mothers. Gathering Hope is a nonprofit based in Texas, reaching women across the country through our national loss mom conference, Wave of Light ceremony, wor

Slaying the Stigma with Stefani Hohman

In the next few episodes, we have pulled from past interviews to introduce you to some of the women you will meet at Gathering 2022.  Raised in Richardson, TX, Stefani Hohman now resides in Fort Worth, with her husband of 15 years, Marc. They have 5 children ranging from 14 to 3 years old, with their daughter Wren in Heaven. She is a professional photographer and is also in her final year of college to be an elementary teacher. She loves plants, paper planners, thrifting, camping, volunteering with PTA & Gathering Hope, watching her kids play sports and her family’s yearly tradition of going to Galveston.“I learned about Gathering Hope a few months after losing Wren in 2018 and attended my first Gathering that fall. My anxiety almost held me back from coming, but I went ahead and signed up because I really needed something to look forward to.I loved that there was going to be worship time and having the opportunity to listen to speakers. But just getting to go share my story with a table of other women who had also experienced loss was the icing on the cake. And exactly what I needed to help propel me through my healing.Halfway through my second Gathering, in 2019, I knew I was signing up to be a table leader the next year. Last year, I served as the lead for the table leader team and the rest is history.”Slaying The Stigma: Changing the Narrative, One Mother at a Time, encourages survivors in their healing journey, while also educating others who are unfamiliar with the issues surrounding miscarriage & infant loss. Slaying the Stigma with Clint Watkins

In honor of Father's Day, we invited Clint Watkins to join us for a conversation about bereaved fatherhood. You will be inspired by Clint's expression of love for his children, as he talks about grieving alongside his wife, Jillian. Clint also points to misconceptions of masculine grief, using Biblical examples of lament. This conversation doesn't shy away from the gutting sorrow that comes with child loss, and how this experience can lead to questioning God. He openly shares how wrestling with faith can be a gateway to a stronger faith that is anchored in true hope. We also talk about how to support dads through loss and what our culture needs to understand about the complexity of grief. Clint is a missionary with the posture of a wounded shepherd. As a campus minister, he helps men and women find hope through the death and resurrection of Jesus. As a sufferer, he and his wife lost their first two babies in two years. In 2018, they lost Eli during delivery due to a fatal condition. In 2020, they lost Rowe through miscarriage. What sustained them was God's invitation to struggle honestly with him in their sorrow. Now, Clint teaches and writes in order to extend that same invitation to others. The Lord welcomes our wrestling in order to offer us rugged hope. He and Jillian live in Lancaster, PA, with their third child, Conley.  You can read more of Clint's writing at FrailFather.com or ClintDWatkins.com and connect with him on Instagram at @clintdwatkins. Support the showInterested in sponsoring an episode? ABOUT THIS SHOW
