The Legacy of Marshall Tucker Band's Toy Caldwell
Former Marshall Tucker Band drummer Paul T. Riddle joins Matt to talk about his exciting new band that pays homage to the songwriting of his former MTB bandmate, the late Toy Caldwell. Riddle is joined in the lineup of Toy Factory Project by Marcus King, Blackberry Smoke's Charlie Starr, Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers Band, Dead & Company), Josh Shilling (Mountain Heart, Wynonna Judd plus Billy Contreras (Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder) on fiddle and Jimmy Rector on additional percussion. Toy Factory Project made its live debut in 2025 at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and returns to the stage starting tonight (Feb. 26) at the Capitol Theatre with additional live dates following in May as well. Paul shares stories about the birth of the project, why Toy Caldwell was such a special musician and songwriter, the TFP album they've completed featuring guests like Peter Frampton, Derek Trucks and Vince Gill, plus plenty of war stories about the early days of the Marshall Tucker Band, interactions with the Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Grateful Dead as well. It was a lot of fun to speak with Paul about his long history in music and what's ahead!

William DuVall of Alice in Chains
William joins Matt to talk about "Black Horizon," his debut with Metal Allegiance and the first new music from the hard rock supergroup in eight years. UCR's Gary Graff joins Matt to reflect on the news of the passing of Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead. The Early Days of Aerosmith
Aerosmith released their first album this week in 1973, so we're cracking the seal on a conversation you haven't heard yet with legendary producer Jack Douglas. He started working with the band beginning with 1974's Get Your Wings and shares the story of what he learned listening to their debut record and how the future Boston legends evolved in those early years. Along the way, Douglas also shares anecdotes regarding his experiences with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, the Who and what he's up to these days.

Rik Emmett, Mike Levine and Gil Moore joined Matt on the eve of the tour announcement for Triumph's reunion tour to share the stories behind how the 2026 outing came together and also talk about how they're getting ready for the shows -- and how new band members Phil X (himself a Triumph alum), Todd Kerns and Brent Fitz will be integrated into the performances. We discuss a number of different subjects, with Rik offering insights on how the added three players will actually help them finally be able to play some of the songs live in a way that will be more representative of how they were recorded. Chris Mars of the Replacements
An expanded box set for The Replacements' Let it Be album is due out in November, so it was a lot of fun to talk to Chris Mars to revisit his memories of how the album came together. We dug through a lot of different Replacements-related topics, but also plenty of other subjects, including his time working with Golden Smog, his solo work, his artistic endeavors with painting, drawing and video and a good amount of conversation outside of all of that with Chris Mars, the music fan. With Bad Company's Rock Hall induction happening this weekend, we got together with Def Leppard's Joe Elliott, a longtime fan of Free, Mott the Hoople and Bad Co. to get his thoughts and memories on being a fan of what Paul Rodgers, Mick Ralphs and Simon Kirke did both together and apart throughout their long career. He shares his happiness regarding the induction, telling us, "No band deserves it more." We also talk with Joe about collaborating with Paul and Simon on a new version of Bad Company's Seagull, Def Leppard's Las Vegas residency and more. Note: This conversation was recorded before we learned that Paul Rodgers would be unable to participate in the Rock Hall induction ceremony.

We’re Really Excited About the Rush Reunion!
It's the news that many of us never saw coming. Rush will return in 2026. Matt was in attendance last night at the private event at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland where Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson announced their reunion plans and shared some great war stories. The events that followed that incredible night made a summit with Chuck Armstrong necessary to discuss a number of topics. We share our reunion thoughts, of course, plus news of a contest opportunity for UCR and Loudwire fans to win a trip to see Rush in Chicago on July 18. There's some "fly on the wall" style commentary about some of the people who were in attendance, including industry legends Cliff Burnstein and Peter Mensch and also, former WMMS music director Donna Halper, who played "Working Man" for the first time on U.S. radio and helped set an important course for the band here in the States. We even discuss an interesting Rush promo item that you might need to add to your life. Big thanks to the folks at the Rock Hall, particularly Jason Hanley and J.R. UCR comrade Chuck Armstrong is back with Matt to share a conversation he recently had with Yungblud about the forthcoming collaborative EP with Aerosmith, One More Time. Former Styx vocalist and songwriter Dennis DeYoung is with Matt to discuss the history of two key Styx albums, 1977's The Grand Illusion and 1978's Pieces of Eight. Long before he joined Yes, guitarist Steve Howe had already developed a great love for Bob Dylan's music. A few decades later, he found himself recording 1999's Portraits of Bob Dylan. With the album being reissued alongside 2001's Natural Timbre on CD -- and for the first time, vinyl -- Steve joins Matt to discuss the experience crafting his versions of both Dylan fan favorites and deeper cuts. He joins Matt to discuss his role as one of the Executive Producers for Billy Joel: And So it Goes, the new documentary from HBO that made its debut today. Steve shares the story behind the doc, which was directed by Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin. He also digs into his own personal history with Billy with some stories from their years on the road together.

You've probably heard Steve Stevens' musical work in a lot of different places. From the world-famous theme for the blockbuster Top Gun movie in the '80s to his '90s adventures with Motley Crue's Vince Neil and beyond.
